Anybody who pronounces GIF like "Jiff" is a f***ing R*tard! The G in GIF stands for GRAPHICS. The G in graphics is pronounced with that hard G sound from the back of your throat, like the G in "guy," "guilt," or "girth." It's the exact same for acronyms like GUI... I don't give one F*** about how the person who created the file format says he pronounces it! He's wrong and he doesn't get to make up or change the rules on how the English language works!... Sorry... that's the end of my rant. Again sorry. Stupidity is just a pet peeve of mine. It's one thing if somebody wants to be a silly goose and pronounce it wrongly on purpose. That's their right. But it really sets me off every time I hear somebody try to incorrectly "correct" somebody else and tell them it's pronounced like jiff...

What about words like gender, giraffe, or gentle? There are no "English language rules" being changed here. I pronounce it as jiff because its an acronym and the letter G is pronounced as "ji". I don't have any problem with others pronouncing it with a hard G. The only thing that pisses me off here is people like you who disregards other people's opinions.

Bro doesn't know how acronyms work 🤦‍♂️, take laser for example, it stand for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The S in "Stimulated" makes a "ssss" sound and the s in "Laser" makes a "zzzz" sound. Acronyms don't have to follow the pronunciation of their individual words. I don't have any problem with people saying gif with a "guh" sound but that does make the "je" sound incorrect, bozo.
