To your question about "What would have happened if Gaara hadn't come?" well to be honest Sasuke would have been splatter all over the place in pieces, and the Raikage was willing to sacrifice his leg to do that, so Gaara really saved him from death here.

Sasuke could potentially survive if Madara conveniently showed up after he took the hit and sucked him and Karin in to his dimension to have Sasuke get healed ASAP, but yeah otherwise Sasuke would prob just die very quickly. I think he could potentially survive just cause he survived that insane lariat wound from Bee for a little bit.

It's still 5-7 episodes a week. In fact, start of this arc we got at least 10 episodes in one week. Not understanding what you mean by "split up". He only guarantees 4 episodes per week if you read description, but he often exceeds that.
