Yeah, the author is awesome. She grew up in a farm, so she's used to hard work and had an interesting perspective towards life. She even made a manga about farming (Silver Spoon). She also likes to read history and stuff, which explains why she's such a smart author.

Yeah its recap for the most part but there is some REALLY important interactions that NEED to be seen for the future. Mainly what is going on in Hohenheims head. I don't think Nick needs to record it but he 100% needs to watch it.

I feel like theres a discussion to be had here, but i dont believe envy that the souls dont remember who they were and are just energy. It sounds like something that envy, being someone who only sees humans as a resource, would say. Some of the soul's lines indicate they do remember, and have been conscious this whole time, which is terrifying

For episode 27, you can just watch the first 3 minutes and last 5 minutes, and skip the rest of the middle bit which isn't new content Edit: there's a few new scenes still I guess, maybe just watch the whole thing on 1.5x or something.

Bro the ending was actually made by the animators. It was originally just Ed saying the same as he got pulled in. The animators changed it to him smashing open the door after getting pulled in and then yelling and pointing. The author actually loved the change also.
