OP fans would come up with any poor explanations, but its simply just lazy writing. Zoro in general was a total background character during the main events of the arc

luffy isn’t trying to defeat kizaru, he’s just trying to hold him back, I think luffy could easily defeat kizaru if he wanted to. Like kizaru only hit him one time in g5 and that was when he was distracted.

In general admirals are slightly weaker than yonkos. They can keep up a fight but they would be at great disadvantage. Some yonko's vice captains like marco and ben beckman seem to be depicted as ppl who could compete with admirals, but in general, vice captains stand no chance against admirals (zoro, king, katakuri, sanji, queen etc); i'm mentioning sanji and queen because their power level is slightly under zoro's and king's. In the case of luffy vs kizaru fight. It wasn't a fair one on one. Kizaru spent his entire time running and cloning and was more focused on achieving his mission. Luffy's g5 lacks stamina so the fact of chasing after kizaru tired him a lot. But in the end you can see that when luffy managed to give a deadly shot it was extremely effective and it took him down. On a more direct one on one fight, luffy's win would be clearer and more indisputable

The flashback and the filler are 2 separate things. The flashback itself is canon, and supremely important to the story. However, next week's episode is some filler about Chopper instead of this flashback. Without spoiling, I can say this flashback will be of the same importance as the Oden flashback in Wano, and it will be the PoV of Bonney since she's the one who saw the memories from that bubble.

Luffy definitely has the haki advantage, partially sided by the fact that Kizaru doesn't really want to do this, but Kizaru seemed pretty confident that he could handle Big Mom and Kaido at the same time. I think from a raw power perspective they're probably all around the same level, but then it comes down to haki and fruit matchups which are where fights get determined.

Lucci could have been easily dealt with just like Kaku with that bubble pistols, but Oda needed an excuse to ignore Zoro for the rest of the arc, so he put Lucci up against him off-screen, so he didn't need to bother writing anything for Zoro

Nah man he doesnt come close of handling both big mom and kaido. He was asking to leave for wano since he thought the navy had to do something about it but akainu which is more realistic, didnt allow him. Maybe with a great fleet and dome celestial knights he would reduce considerably kaido's military power but with huge losses. And it's pretty obvious that every emperor alone would beat kizaru.
