Can't wait to watch a SINGLE MINUTE of Frieren: Beyond Journey's End - Episode 28 for the next 22 months (Nick said it, not me). WE CAN'T LET IT END. NOT TILL SEASON 2!!!! Btw, just a correction, Frieren and Serie are NOT equals in strength. Lernen surmised that Frieren's *full* mana is equal to Serie's. But in reality, Serie is also suppressing her mana to a higher level of control that makes it appear like it's equal to Frieren's. If we take Flamme's teachings of limiting your mana to 1/10th of its capacity. Then Serie's mana pool is literally 10x of Frieren's.

BTW what the show is suggesting when Serie says he didn't see her mana fluctuations is that despite her mana being extremely powerful she's still suppressing it, which is terrifying

NGL few shows have such dedicated masterful crafting , I must have rewatched it 7 or 8 times , one solo and the others along side reactor such as Nick (I'll probably watch it again solo and with new reactors) , no other show beside Naruto (3 to 4 solo watch and 3 or more with reactors ) have come close to the amount of rewatch I have on Frieren and Naruto while peak it's also because Nostalgia it's a comfort show , so it's a testament to how I LOVE FRIEREN . for me it's Anime of the decade even and among the top of my Life !!

Bro Fern as the innate Talent to do that since she a kid and Frieren improved her on that :'P , Frieren took a millennia , Fern a decade thx to her talent and Frieren nurture. it's the reason she is so hard to detect ! Fern can be basically invisible to Mages . Frieren said multiple time she struggle to find Fern even when she was a child !

If you pay close attention , the White flowers in the garden are Flamme's favorite , it's the one that came with the first flower field we see Frieren do , for Flamme's Grave , these specific white flowers are seen in that scene around her grave but also in SERIE flash back with child Flamme , went walking with Frieren , but we also see then here IN SERIE GARDEN , she planted them , so while she talk shit about it she look at these same flower she herself planted , she loved FLAMME and she loves all her student , that fcking Tsundere grumpy grandma Serie !! XD c'mon it's just PEAK

Frieren is able to see Serie's mana suppression as she is better at mana detection that Fern, as it's to be expected, and this is made clear in later chapters in the manga. Serie was gonna fail Frieren either way as they have completely opposite views on magic: one is a gatekeeper, the other thinks magic should be free (just like Flamme).

Even based on the anime itself, nothing suggests Frieren could not see Serie's mana supression as she is better than Fern on every metric (apart from casting speed). Serie's test for Frieren did not revolve around that, and she was gonna fail her no matter what she said.

You got it wrong Fern is far more adapt in mana detection and while Frieren cannot see the the instability in Series mana BUT she has pretty good idea of what Serie is hiding, she is not stupid after all she just doesn't care is all.

Yes in terms of teaching Serie is not really on top but you can't say anything about her accomplishments. Serie has lived way before the demon kings time and we know nothing of that as even things from 1000 years ago are just rumors at this point. Not to speak how when she did decide to come back into the picture 50 years ago she once again turned the magic world upside down.

Serie is probably way stronger. Frieren is actually inexperienced for her age from spending a lot of time training mana suppression and just collecting spells as a casual hobby rather than for strength. Serie on the other hand seems to be all about getting stronger spells and training, and not to mention she’s much older than Frieren. Also, Serie’s suppressed magic was the size of Frieren’s actual magic as pointed out by that first class mage. There’s other little hints like Serie saying mana suppression could take a century or two for the untalented, implying she might have learnt it in less time. And considering Serie is known as the “living grimoire” from having nearly every known spell, her attack arsenal is likely far crazier than what we saw Frieren doing against the clone.

Lernen was acutally the one who recognized Frierens amulet and let her take part in the exams even though she was not certified at all. Forgot which episode it was. And Edel at some point talked about her grandfather being a first class mage. A little hint :)

Oh, Nic mentioned that maybe Fern will learn to suppress her mana too; she already has, and that's how she defeated Lügner, the blood controlling demon. She fooled him into believing she had low mana when in reality she had far more than him but had perfectly suppressed it. She was praised by Frieren for her talent from the very first episode. I'm pretty sure Eisen taught her to do that.

11:39 Serie is someone that's as strong as Frieren, if not stronger just based on mana levels (15:02) since they have equal mana levels visually according to Lernen but Frieren's suppression and the resulting fluctuations were noticeable while Serie's were not, along with Serie's longer experience.

2026-09-06 19:00 I am still not sure if nicolas ever picked up on the fact that serie had fluctuations in her mana too. Even after saying how useless it is to supress mana and what a waste of time it is she still does it. I wouldnt even be surprised if she taught flamme that technique. This means that series massive mana aura seen during here many is what it looks like surpressed to 10% or less of its full volume. Insane.
