Aaron Miranda

K

The dub actor of Simon is the same voice actor for Sasuke

Logan H

TTGL helped me during m'y dépression 10/10

Miroku

Gurren Lagann and Code Geass came out the same year. us mecha fans were eating good

Raz S

Lucky to be with you, thought about me watching the whole thing about a week ago

Luke

gurren lagann is absolutely a 10/10, at least for hype and showcasing the indomitable human spirit in an anime. Animation/style is amazing as well for 2007.

TheRagaz

any real anime fan will bring up gurren lagann when the topic is ''best animes of all time''

Fiore

Nick! After watch TTGL you should watch PROMARE movie (studio Trigger), you gonna love it! (Music in particular!) It's a tribute from studio Trigger to ttgl 👀 greetings from Argentina!

Roger Baltazar-Justo

Bro you gotta watch the movie when you get to the ending of GL it’s way better

Houcine Kraiem

The fact that Yoko is 14 years old looking like that is kinda crazy still a 10/10 anime for me though

Popcorn

IMPORTANT Nick there is one episode that looks VERY bad because it was animated by a different team, and I think a different directory. So there will be 1 bad looking and directed episode around episodes 4-6, i don't remember which one it is. Another thing, most of this anime can be summed up by these words "Don't think, feel". Not always, but sometimes.

Hxlo

8.5

Daniel iacomi

10/10 when I first watched it. Now maybe I'll give it a 9.

ariah

100/10

KS6820

10/10 the dub, ost, and show all deserve more praise

Popcorn

Gurren Lagann has 1 anime & a Movie adaptation with some changes, especially in the final battle. I would really like to see your reactions to the final battle in the 2nd Movie version after you finish Gurren Lagann. Ps: I think you're gonna love how characters evolve throughout the story, especially Simon

Marcus Donaldson Jr.

THE GOAT! I would have to say 9.5 out of 10 because it took a few episodes for me to fall in love with it. But when I did, I fell hard! My favorite anime to date.

Daniel iacomi

Yeah, Deku is a copy of Simon, except Simon is 10 times a better character than Deku will ever be. Simon ,for sure will not be a McDonalds worker at the end of the series, not like a certain other character.

aido8101

9/10 one of my favorite anime ever

Meunji

Anything about mecha you need to include GL in any conversation. Such an amazing experience watching it. Character growth definetly what you must look forward.

Joshua Partridge

I've been waiting ever since AOT reactions for this 10/10

rizqiefajar

Let's gooo! I don't know if you noticed, but Yoko is voiced by Armin 😅

Jorge

i real wanted to liked this anime sucks I couldn't anyway enjoy it

Magnus

bro u good, or retarded

Fabien

Actually, if you think, there's an interesting internal logic in the anime which justifies the unapologetic "shonen power". There's even a valid nihilist thought and its counter which raises an interesting philosophy to live your life. Deep down, in my opinion Gurren Lagaan is far less superficial than for example Death Note. The anime doesn't try to, but it still does. Despite how it looks at first glance.

Xan Acktor

I almost died trying to read that.

FiH Priime

Yoooo 100/10 anime !!!! Soooo happy you reacting to it ♥

Fabien

Eps 25-26-27 are indeed incredible. Notice how you never hear the best music in the anime until ep 25, and then you hear it again in ep 26, and then again in ep 27. It really adds to the emotions and to the epicness.

Kuro

you should also try out the dub its peak and so iconic!

Naki

10000000 out of 10

Crisp

Goated reaction to a goated show

Naki

i respect your opinion but with all respect your opinion sucks

Kaba

So you're telling me I have to wait 7 days for ep 2

Patricio Andrades

omg this anime is so good, u won't regret watching it at all, you gonna love it!!

Joey Zero

See-moan or She-moan (as Kamina says) is his name and definitely in my top 10

ExiledJitsu

man other than watching naruto on cartoon network this is the anime that really got me into it all, happy to watch it again with you and go thru the experience.

poka4611

for its 1. steins gate 2. code geass 3. gurren lagann i love that u picked it up

Reginald Martin

this anime keeps getting better too, if you end up loving it then you will love studio trigger anime

Lazy Lenni

7:51 "Or like Cyberpunk" Interesting that you say that because it's animated by Studio Trigger, just like Cyberpunk :)

Popcorn

Some people like when anime tells you everything, and some like to interpret things their own way. I love to see things in differet ways or see situations from different perspectives, and Gurren Lagann is a example of being "Dumb fun", but has also a lot more in it than that, so much it actually made me tear up a bit at the end on my 2nd watch. Chainsaw Man is the same, people know it for craziness, dirty jokes, gore and Action, but I think it's a masterfully written story, probably the best from from Fujimoto. And I LOVE anime or shows like this, Heavenly Delusion was the latest example of that that comes to mind that is like this(kind of) So even if the author didn't intend the scene to be that deep, I still like to interpret and see the story for what I want or see it to be(if that makes any sense) Sorry if my reply is too long, I just love that kind of narrative.

9/10

pancake boi

LETS GO YULIAN TOMORROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY EVER SAO FANS RISE

NikoCat11

My fav show ever, let's fn go. This is legitimate an incredible experience. You might need a little bit of time to adapt, because it's super fast, peculiar and over the top, but it will happen and I think you'll love this show. This show is art at its purest!!! Btw you'll get Cyberpunk Edgerunners energy watching this because the team behind it was on GAINAX before the studio unfortunately went bankrupt and so they moved on to create Studio Trigger (Gurren Lagann's legacy, pretty much, and the ones that created amazing shows, such as Edgerunners). This show was made by some of the most capable and talented names on the industry, and it's an original project, it wasn't adapted from any prior media. Let's fn GOOO

Nicholas Forehead TV

It's getting so much better each episode, you're gonna love it

poka4611

u spitting facts

NikoCat11

Well, then Gurren Peak is not for everybody, it's seems like 😂

NikoCat11

Me too. Been requesting this show to a bunch of people and finally someone started it.

Xel lal

I remember watching this on tv when I was a kid and it blew my mind My No1 anime of all time I know you will enjoy it

NikoCat11

It does because it's VERY different from the average show. But try watching it again, you'll probably love the beginning now, every detail, since now you know what to expect.

NikoCat11

The movies are great for when you want to re-watch it, but doesn't have much free time to spare. Very good

Manvelly

This checks so many boxes! Its really an amazing anime

NikoCat11

Actually, Gurren Lagann animation directors differ a lot from episode to episode, and it was intentional. They wanted to do something very experimental, and it's part of why this anime is so goated. But episode 4 was directed by a guy that everyone hated at the time, because his stuff are... very peculiar, to say the least. That's why it ended up looking the way it did lol You can even see this clearly when you watch the Gurren Lagann Parallel Works, which are a BUNCH of experimental shorts they made for the show (they are BEAUTIFUL, highly recommend it, you can find most of them on YouTube btw).

NikoCat11

Yes, TTGL is anything BUT superficial. This show was created with a very clear idea in mind, and they managed to capture it insanely well. That's why it's such a relatable show. It's not complicated, it's pretty simple, but it's deep. It was meant to be like this.

NikoCat11

Undeniably true.

NikoCat11

Code Geass is 2006, alongside Death Note. Gurren Lagann came the next year :D

Shaded

Come up with a new joke, that shit is burned out and not funny also if you have a brain, you'd know thats not how MHA's story ends lmfao

David Mohn

I thought it was a 9/10 series until I watched the last episode. I felt the last couple of scenes (no spoilers) was handled poorly and didn't line up with the rest of the show, so it kinda ruined the whole thing for me.

Shaded

I think alot of nick's patrons doesn't have brains lmao

Shaded

91 DAYS OAT, i loved that one so much man goated recommendation

Achieve210

Oh, you're in for something special, Nick. I watched Gurren Lagann a decade ago, and I still think about it often. The amount of times I think about this anime during hard situations or whenever I needed to push myself has been what's gotten me as far as I did in life. Is Gurren Lagann the best anime ever? No, of course not, but it is without a doubt my personal number one because of what it means to me. I hope it has even a fraction of the impact it had on my life with your watch through, and with everyone else here watching it for the first time. Sidenote: still thinking about getting a team Dai Gurren tattoo on my arm.

Marcus Donaldson Jr.

I’m sure! I was waiting for a reason to rewatch it. And it looks like Nicolas reacting to it was great timing! I’m gonna enjoy this

Vinny Deluca

Gurren Lagann is unironically my fave series of all time, 10/10

Aaron Koda

Its peak man, u will enjoy it (i hope) hahah

Ritzer

First I see Bleach, my favorite anime and the one that got me into anime, and now Gurren Lagann, the anime that helped me through my darkest moments. Truly I'm blessed.

Vinny Deluca

This series is pretty 1:1 Sub/Dub so take your pick, imo it’s one of the best dubs ever

DJays32

This anime might change your life.

Able Kwok

I kind of hoping Nick will watch Kill la kill

Flow

hell yeah, this would perfectly fit his style

James White

Top 3 anime for me and its probably top 1

Chortle

Gurren Lagann my top anime of all time. You just cant compete with how epic the characters and plot are. Can't forget the OST either

Okeda

Finally one of the best anime off all time !!!

The_Cringe_Nerd

I rate it a "Who the hell do you think I am!" out of 10

JuniorTheMeme

it could be that i'm totally wrong, but isn't gurren lagann on crunchyroll stuck in 480p? Like, the highest resolution on crunchyroll for gurren lagann is 480p?

Jimmy

Bro watch the dub it’s soooo good

꧁Coltonius Maximus꧂

If fmab watchers couldn't get him to watch the dub, I doubt anyone can with this either, sorry home slice

Connor Fears

So glad ur doing this, one of the most powerful anime’s. Easy 10/10

Christian Bauer

The animation is still absolutely incredible. Same level as movie quality

MrShaDowAnDub

It's 2007 for you 😀 I'm sure you'll love it

Sorcerer

I think it's mid. Yeah, I'm that guy. I gave up after about 5 episodes.

Daniel

i already know what you're talking about and its a terrible take

Super Ryo Reacts

Its kinda depressing my old ass to think that this is now considered a "classic" anime to some people. I remember this anime like it was yesterday! And its ONLY from 2007, thats only like three years ago right? RIGHT??

Joel

yeah im watching it illigally and its in 780, or even 1080 p

NikoCat11

Yes!! Gonna be fun

kazu_art_park

Thanks to you I became interested GURREN LAGANN!!! I Watch this!!!☀️

Cayn

This is one of my tops. And the best mech anime ever. Started my anime journey. You are in for a damn hype treat. It's lovely to see my favorite reacter watching this.

Brendan Williams

Also idk if Nick reads the comments but it’s the same studio as Cyberpunk, Kill la kill etc.

Zelek

One of the better mecha anime

A

Nick. On episode 6 be sure to watch Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Mitee Mono wa Miteen da!!" Special. Instead of the normal one because it seems it is usually a censored version of the episode with recaps instead of the original content

Hxlo

U know believe it or not I did not finish this show so I guess I’m watching with u the last time I seen this show was in 2015

UnbreakableFire

There is only a few animes out there where dub is a must and I'd have to say this is 1 of the few. Kinda like sub there are animes out there where sub is a must then you have animes that dont matter how you watch it.

MIce1987

So glad you watching Gurren Lagann! It is one of my all time favorite anime.

Ren

this is such a feel good anime

bruhbruh

10/10 my favourite fr

Orange

I never watch this anime, i watch for the first with you, but that remind me a little of Aldnoah 0 (there mecha)

maximgeld

The Quality is so bad , You can find this anime in at least HD , id sugest looking for a different streaming website or look if you can change the quality settings

H Roz

this is my top 3 anime !!!! i fucking love it !!!! it was the 3rd anime i watched as a kid so it has a special place in my heart !

Grady

This is a very entertaining series. Definitely hyped to watch it again with you

Momar

Wow, Nick finally made it here. What a blast!

Momar

Crunchyroll and other streaming services only has this in low def. There is blu-ray quality of this floating around. Luffy and his crew probably came across it at some point at a certain bay.

Aaron Keith

i literally started the show two days ago, what a coincidence. 5 eps in rn, its pretty good so far, love the dynamic between the main three.

RawDuck

Finally! I waited for so long for you to react to this series. You won't regret it trust me. Btw you compared it to the cyberpunk which was correct since gurren lagann was made by Gainax, you can say that Gainax later changed into Trigger.

iAlpha Soul

ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH ! ! ! 👌🔥

EkkaLula9

Studio Trigger is the GOAT OF ANIME. Legendary style.

Meow Man

BRO BEST ANIME ON MY CATS SOUL

Super Ryo Reacts

Yep. 2007. To me thats not that old but holy shit yeah thats like 18 years ago... its now of legal age! But brother, trust me its not THAT old! See, as anime switched to a mostly digital art pipeline in the early 2000's, studios were still trying to get to grips with the process, and so, so many anime all started to look alike. Very flat, very basic coloring, no style at all. I was getting bored with anime like that at the time. When Gurren Lagann came out, it was really the first time in a long time that a series returned to adding STYLE and FLAIR to its animation. Something that didn't feel digital, something that felt like the animators could still add expression and exaggeration to their frames. It felt like how a lot of great 90's anime felt, and I loved it for that! This anime will keep you surprised as you go along, you never know where its going from episode to episode! A suggestion for fun: Look up and react to Yoko's music video "Stars", its so fun!

Hélio Mothci

this is, for me, the bst anime I have ever watched, it gets better with every rewatch. I've been dreaming of rewatching TTGL with your reactions because I believe you'll go crazy watching it and I'm HERE FOR IT!

Hélio Mothci

Use T o rrent to get the blu-ray version. they are BEAUTIFUL!

Joshua Partridge

The last couple scenes were essential to the entire point They lined up with the entire setup from the rest of the show And kept in line with the established world rules

Marlon

this was from the end of the old Gainax days... RIP to the goat studio
