Sword Art Online - Episode 17 "Captive Queen" (UNCUT REACTION)

Comments

Luigi Sequino

People telling you will drop the series only feels like a forced thought, ruining probably moment that you could actually like, just drop it whenever you like if it will eventually bore you, but I don't think it's the worst of the worst series, you can easily enjoy it even if it's not that appreciated

Blank Atua

Yeah, don't listen to the babies constantly saying this arc is shit and to skip, they're just riding off the old hate like toddlers without their own opinion

Sigfried

again the "boring" part is 3-5 episode during the second part of season 2.

Christian

“This show is so fucked up. I love it so much.” lol I love that

Master

Maybe, just maybe, you will actually like this arc 😂

MIce1987

Yes! More SAO! Awesome reaction!

LetMeTalk

So happy your sticking with this show it’s honestly amazing and you haven’t even witnessed the best parts of it yet

BojacksReacts

The only part people could be talking about is s2. But (in my opinion) that season isn’t even bad. So can’t wait to see your own thoughts

Zenkusen

Idk why everone is saying you're going to drop this arc, when the actual bad arc is the second half of season 2, right before alicization.

Martin Fink

Yea Asuna can't fight back; I think you missed the part where fairy perv has admin privileges so it basically makes him a god in this game. Honestly I do feel bad for Suguha.

izamyc

came and left bcz of slime but Im totally back to see you finish this series. It gets different to SAO, so ppl complain but the rest of the anime is also great, specially Alicization, if there is any point you might get a bit bored its gonna be the second part of the second season but man... just you wait

pancake boi

fax the quests episodes are actually unbearable

Laura Alonso

Ok I think he won’t mind that one character. I didn’t pay it attention and enjoyed the show back then

Vern Saeteurn

Waiting a week for the next episode reactions are so tough 😭

Fizz

Nicks face when he realized it was the sister lmao

Marcus Vinícius Schmitz

yeah, the excalibur arc is really boring, but right after there is mother's rosario which is one of the best short arcs.

Lucifer

You may drop the second half of season 2, as it's mostly side stories and fillers. S3 onwards is good

Martin Fink

Nah he likes side stories besides one of them is important for Asuna.

Zachary Schemmel

I might be the only person who enjoyed the 2nd half of the 2nd season and not care for the first half. I am glad you are enjoying it. This anime has been top 3 for me for a long time.

DreaMy

I mean it was good. But it feel like it was mainly due to multiple reasons that people didn't like it. Nick doesn't read comments, but ima do a SPOILER TAG here: Firstly the aincrad arc was relatively short, and it felt like we never got any answers. And going straight into a new part of the season, where there is even more groping and rape than the first part of the season. And having kinda incest vibes between kirito and leafa during the entire thing. It was just weird. I myself, didn't hate it like others do. But i do get why they do not like it

Merami Merami

Only 2-3 eps are irrelevant bro.. wtf are u saying

OpMan

good thing we pay nick and not u for reactions

gun Rail

Same here, the second part is definitely better for me. The plot flows way more naturally, making it way more enjoyable to watch.

flowww

Nick (like 20 times so far): I'm not dropping SAO braindead people every week: nIcK iS sUrElY dRoPpiNg It just cry in your corner bozos, he's dropping gachiakuta instead

linked winters

i think the reason alot of people hate this arc is just the sheer dropoff from season 1 This is just my opinion, and I'm sharing it with no disrespect to anyone who likes sao and enjoys it. MAJOR SPOILER WARNING one of this arc's biggest issues is that Asuna was actually a decently compelling character in SAO aincrad. She was as strong as kirito, and even though Kirito was op, it wasn't op in an unjustifiable or over the top way. Kirito could lose fights, Kirito could have equals, Kirito was a top player, but he wasn't unmatched. Even klein was about nearly on kirito's level. Asuna was an interesting character in that she was a strong, female lead that didn't fall back on tropes that isekai often fall on, like making them a damsel in distress just because they're a woman and the show's target audience happens to overlap pretty strongly with lonely weebs who don't speak to women. It also had this oppressive air where anyone could die. There were stakes. Yeah, it wasn't perfect, and I do have issues with SAO aincrad. The pacing was pretty bad and it had way more potential than it knew how to deliver, but it was at least entertaining. So, take that setup, and completely flip it; Turn asuna into a damsel (both literally, and narratively killing anything that made her more than just a drawing of some girl that moves sometimes), Make kirito's op-ness completely unjustifiable, for example all of his stats transfer into alfheim with no issue (even though alfheim is a completely different game, with stats that are somehow supposed to split between eight races), and then make kirito master flying and then somehow beat the best player in the entirety of alfheim after a week of playing. Take kirito's sister and make her want to bang him for some reason, insert multiple sexual assault scenes and a corny villain that is the first of many rapist villains in SAO (cause reki doesn't know how to make a villain who isn't one), waste half of the arc on some weird sidestory that doesn't at all matter to the main story and kills all the urgency, a sidestory which is meaningless also because death means nothing at this point, and the only stakes are the fact that the main cast are wasting time that sugou could be using to molest asuna (graphically on screen for us all to see). SAO isn't terrible, but it's far off (in my opinion) from being good, and this arc and the arcs to come are a big reason why. It was a promising show that had zero idea what to do with it's ideas, which were good but just not well researched enough, and so yeah, THAT'S why this show gets hate. I feel like alot of SAO fans don't try to understand the hate, and just call it blind hate because it's popular, but there really is a lot to criticize about it. Even solo levelling fans understand that a show like that is fun to watch, but there's not much more to it than that.

Jules vr5

Already 3 episodes into season 2 and people still come in here to complain about it. If you don't like it, just don't come here ffs. Instead you complain about the Anime, about the Fans saying they aren't willing to understand, while you yourself aren't any better if you call Alicization bring bad, there being nothing to it and what not. Sooo many SAO fans don't like this arc either, but you twist it like "sao fans love this no matter what and they can' t take different opinions" just to fit your narrative. Looking st all comment sections for the videos so far shows that you are wrong.

Jules vr5

I'm happy we get at least 2 per week! It will take it's time with I think 96 episodes + 1 movie but imagine he only does 1 a week, we would look at almost 2 years!

Jules vr5

I wonder how he reacts to alicization, especially part 2 (which many call season 4) as the production quality is insane, the audio quality (what he often really really likes) is the best I have heard so far and it:s hype moment after hype moment

Jules vr5

What is your issue with mother's Rosario?

Jules vr5

You mean Excaliber arc? That's 3 episode

kyri3322

asuna and yuuki

Ruukasu97

Asuna doesnt know if Kirito is alive, when they last saw each other both of them thought they were dead

Ruukasu97

Titania and Oberon are characters from Shakespeare

kyri3322

IKR like let people watch what they want. We all know some parts of the anime is bad but most of the times its great. A show doesnt have to be perfect to be good. As long its enjoyable for you its good enough. The only time i didnt enjoy SAO was the Excalibur arc but thats only for few episode. The "pacing issue" in the first part is always hated. Like what part specifically are they hating ? Yea its time skip, but it didnt confuse people that much its just "some time has past and here is what the character did" you must be insanely dumb to know roughly what happen during the time skip. Actual pacing issue is like one piece punch thats a few minutes to land and show us every single frame of it. Im not saying the anime is bad but holy those moments are the worst.

Ruukasu97

Suguha doesnt how Kiritos ingame name, hes Kazuto to her

夜空 NightSky

Dont worry guys. Nick doesn't listen to crybabies. he always checks it by himself not by fans opinion

Berchi Sergiu

This show is wild sometimes, but still great. I've seen on youtube that Kawahara wrote the light novel in 2001 and was only published 8 years later, so, some things might feel too much for some people. It has flaws, since it's so much older that most of the anime watchers, but it's a great anime.

Zakura

I know i'm an unpopular opinion here when saying i really don't get what's so peak about Alicization. I watched it when it came out and i really liked the first part. But war of underworld was such a disappointment to me and it just kept being that. Maybe i remember it wrong or should rewatch it, but i just go to my MAL List and see it having one of the lowest ratings i ever gave a show. And i was a SAO fan before that. I wasn't influenced by any haters or stuff like that.

DJSkywalker

I'm really glad he's into it. There's a lot of good story to come with the second and third series.

Nel Fănel

i can tell the views will slow down a bit bcs that part of anime is the weak among all arcs, but after that Sao gets better and better and will be very close to Aincrad

Michael Lucas

He’s gonna rape her … by force …. Yea nick that’s generally how that depraved act unfolds ….

Joeri

So it begins....

Daniel iacomi

I am scared he will drop JOJO for the hundred time again, lol.

Gael

spoiler.

Xan Acktor

@Sumic I understand how you feel. Im an old SAO fan and read the light novel as it was being translated. The reason you feel this way about this arc is justified. Reki Kawahara the writer of SAO had a really cool idea at the start of sao but he was a beginner at writing and to be blunt the alfhiem part is him at his worst. Thats all i have to say about that. Reki Kawahara gets much better at writing as the show progresses and if this arc breaks the whole show for you cry about it.

Xan Acktor

Fair. If you dont like it dont lie about it. Im not so sensitive as i used to be. Hey look me up on MAL and send me a Friend request.

linked winters

@Jules vr5 I just wanted to write this here because I see the whole comment section talking about nick possibly dropping the show, and talking about people hating on SAO, and I wanted to actually provide reasoning. I keep seeing comments talking about SAO haters having no reason to hate SAO, and I felt like actually providing some solid reasoning. Also, a lot of SAO fans genuinely do love alfheim (and they're allowed to) but this whole "cry about it sao haters" shit is so stupid and immature, because before I commented this everyone was schizoing about nonexistent haters still 17 episodes into the show. To be honest, I don't care that nick is watching SAO, he can watch whatever people want him to. And you're allowed to enjoy whatever you want to as well, this is all just my opinion, and I commented this because I like talking about anime and sharing opinions, and since I dislike SAO, commenting something like this in a comment section of SAO fans starts a discussion I enjoy having

linked winters

@Zakura This is also how I feel, although I did only watch the first 20 episodes. I was a little disappointed with the way that reki once again had a very good idea for a direction the story could have gone, and it instead felt like gun gale again. Kirito goes on another quest with another girl who he has another romance with, with an obligatory rape scene to boot. It had very interesting ideas, and it was a step up somewhat, but I don't think it was very special. Now, after that, I haven't seen any more of what SAO has to offer, except that the next arc obviously has a rape scene in it too

linked winters

@Xan Acktor That's fair enough. To be honest, you're allowed completely to like whatever you want to. This is just my opinion, and thank you for being civil about it. Also, based made in abyss pfp. I haven't seen any evidence that reki gets better, but I'm open to examples if you want to give any

linked winters

@kyri3322 I don't disagree with anything u said lmao. Literally my comment ends with "Even solo levelling fans understand that a show doesn't have to be deep to be good". But my issue with SAO and it's fans is that a lot of them (not all of them) like to pretend that it's some masterpiece, which is super interesting and fun to talk about. And they're entitled to that opinion, but again I'd love to see you guys defend that viewpoint a little. Though, if you don't believe that it's a masterpiece and simply enjoy the show then that's okay too! I'm not judging anyone for liking a show, and it's not shameful to enjoy a not that good (imo) show for what it actually is maybe my comment was too ragebate-y i guess

Xan Acktor

Woah, good one. You stick around for 17 episodes to make that joke no life?

Daniel Thompson

Another day, another internet warrior misunderstanding comedy

Xan Acktor

Im not an internet warrior. I forgot this was a joke after a few weeks. Dude its an awful joke that only confuses people.

Beast

I thought it was funny

Majid Abdulkhalek

Yup people back then weren't such snowflakes like today.

steneric tamm

If he makes it to gun season i will be happy

Michael Lucas

Guys those listing spoiler … I just repeated what Nick said during the episode 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️ and was saying the act in general is by force .. context people ……so if anyone actually spoiled anything , it was y’all

Abirim

You don't like ass?

Саша Одинец

The comment itself is actually a good example of why people hate SAO but not in the way it was intended to. It's because a lot of stuff people hate about it - is made up by them and they refuse to engage with facts that do not fit in with the opinion they already have and tropes they've memorized. It's safe to say now that it's no longer any spoiler, but Asuna's character did not change in any negative way throughout the arc, it's her perception by you that did it. Who mentally breaks down throughout the arc? Kirito, not Asuna. She fights the entire time, never gives up, almost escapes on her own and in the end provides means of saving her and is the one to console Kirito in the end. Narratively, she kept all of her development while it's Kirito who's shown flaws and weakness and forgetting some of the lessons he should have kept. This is where him keeping the stats comes in - he has the stats and relies on them instead of relying on bonds he made along the way. He didn't try to fix the issue irl because the easy way was presented to him - VR, where he feels he has a power. Asuna on another hand, has no stats, but she fights every day she's in captivity. It traces the general theme going from arc to arc in SAO that stats aren't the most important strength in life - the line Kirito spells out back in episode 4 of s1 and has to reminder himself by the end of this arc. In same way you've ignored what was going on in the story because you've already applied memorized "damsel" trope onto it, you've just sexualized what is happening between Kirito and his sister. "Take kirito's sister and make her want to bang him for some reason" - at no point in the story, there was ever anything sexual between them, not a single wish from her to engage in anything of a kind. You've misunderstood the character and is trying to blame the story for it or fans for liking it. You don't want to accept that something you've associated with so many bad plots that the original story is no longer recognizable in your retelling of it - is somehow a masterpiece. But it is. In Japan, SAO is not only beloved, it became Light novel of a decade - not for a pretty picture or music, but specifically for the storytelling. It stands above an entire decade worth of culture in Japan in the book segment. If it isn't a masterpiece, nothing is.
