There has been consistent animation throughout this episode, rather than still frames. When you pay attention to the animation solely from the first frame to the last, you’re bound to have a more terrible experience watching it. Ever since they changed the artstyle for JJK S2, I was worried cuz of the quality. And even when I nitpicked at everything about the animation in none other than JJK S2, I had a more terrible experience. I didn’t enjoy it fully as I wished, until I rewatched it again with reactions. How much more is this guy going to ask?

Some anime like Jojo and Solo Leveling also had still frames in dialogue scenes, just the mouth moving with minimal movement. And no one called out for it, cuz everything else like the action fight sequences made up for it. Give me a break. What do you mean not enough? Do you want every character to be moving non-stop like fight action sequences like most episodes of Solo Leveling? Its not every time that someones has to fight, people actually sit down or stand up and talk with each other. Do you know how animation actually works? Do you not know what the norm is in anime? S1 OPM relied on still frames too

I honestly thought it was a noticeable improvement, but it's still lacking in some areas. I've read the manga so I'm not really trying to put unfair expectations on them, some of the shit coming up is borderline impossible to replicate and most likely took the bulk of their production schedule. But I do feel like they're just being too timid with adding their own flavor to the panels to make things flow better. There were some moments in here that showed they can put their own spice things, but I just think they were given a task that their studio wasn't entirely qualified for/capable of completing.

The main issue is really the lack of movement BETWEEN FRAMES It’s really like just showing manga panels with NO MOVEMENT in between them whatsoever. They have the good action shots, they really just need to animate the in between 🫩😭

To be fair the crash outs before the anime even dropped were maybe a bit too forced and probably had a bit of rage bait built in, but everything afterwards is absolutely justified. Its one thing to overreact because previews are underwhelming, but seeing this level of quality is what cuts the rope for the people still hanging on to hope. What people don't seem to understand is that while some think that what they are seeing is ok, the quality this show is getting is on the level of unknown 3.1 rated slop that Crunchyroll throws into the rotation to fill out their quota for a season release. OPM is one of the biggest names out there and it is being treated with the same level of respect as slop. You can still enjoy the fact that your favorite show is finally getting a third season, but at the same time call out the studio for absolutely butchering it. As much as I'm personally glad season 3 is here, I also believe that every single person who touched this episode should be on a no fly list somewhere as an act of quarantine for the rest of the anime community.

This feels like another Blue Lock S2 situation, where most of the animation is bad except for some important/hyped up scenes. Hopefully, the good animation scenes will be a lot more frequent than in Blue Lock S2. Besides that, everything else is great. Personally, I’ll probably still keep watch cuz of how good everything else is. It might help that I already read the manga though.

Regardless of how limited the animation is, I wanna draw attention to two positives: 1st: Many scenes have quite thicc, strong lineart, similar to the artstyle of the first season of AOT. 2nd: The compositing and art direction are well executed. The lighting seems intentional and textures such as metal look more pleasing than they did in Season 2. Does that mean that I really enjoy the animation? Not really. I'd just like to inspire more nuanced takes on it :)

Nick, it’s not good — no one’s arguing that. But could you please react to the actual plot? At least a little? It’s not interesting to watch 30 minutes of complaints and you roasting the anime. By that logic, OPM S3 is a bad anime, and your reactions to OPM are bad reactions too. It’s the same level of disappointment — people don’t pay to watch you trash an anime while giving 0 (okay, maybe 22%) attention to the plot.

i mean, ive never seen a laziest animations, that werent put into parody or a meme, so at least you had a reason for it to be that bad. i honestly admire someone who has so much hope for the series to watch this every week and react to it, couse i dont think its gonna be any better; i dont know what kind of penny size budget they had for this season, but i guess some series should just be continued only in the manga, if thats the outcome we will get. you aint over reacting this show is genuinely Ugly AF only issue is you think committee is responsible without even knowing wtf the committee is its not some mega corp it can even be an individual they offer the job and JC staff took it. You're over defending a mediocre studio that's released slop for years and is probably pocketing the money from the committee while delivering PNGs editing in movie maker. The shows not underfunded S2 and This season are a bigger budget than S1. There was also plenty of time to work on it JC staff just literally didn't bother.
