The past two episodes were a setup to this and the upcoming episodes, and they sure left everyone with more questions than answers. Thankfully they managed to pace this episode so well that it answers nearly all questions the past two episodes and many episodes before created.

This season starts off slow, but it's always magical to watch things slowly come together until it all makes sense. I can't wait for the generational run of episodes to continue

rizqiefajar

Glad you've understood it better now. Aside from how messed up it is, the mystery aspect of this season is so intriguing

Andy Lyu

You have to admit that you are not good at concentrating sometimes. Do better job.

The next episodes are going to ramp things up to an 11

Yeah season two was not the strongest part thus far in my opinion, but it is still peak to bring out the real reaction and Made in Abyss is one of the few anime to do that.

Idris Naama

When it comes to anime's like Made In Abyss I prefer when you're reacting in a chill/calm way, because to me it seems like you understand things much better than when you're trying to put more effort and energy into reacting by raising your voice a lot to entertain us (nothing wrong with that)

Idris Naama

For me personally I think Season 2 is better than Season 1, but with the movie its always alternating between the 2

Ivan Dukov

Man, you really have to rewatch this show on your own, so you could focus more on the things happening. I feel like it is the only scenario in which you really could fully appreciate the story

Ivan Dukov

This season steps off from show's original adventure theme, that really can take off some viewers, but story is not bad, by no means, if anything, it is one of the most unique pieces of work in anime, I can't even recall something similar to this. It just shows how multi dimensional it can be and you either accept a new approach to storytelling, and go with the flow or not

Idris Naama

Excluding characters like Nanachi and Bondrewd, I honestly feel that the new main cast introduced this season, especially Faputa, Vueko, Belaf, and Wazukyan, are much more better written than Riko and Reg. Riko and Reg are still good characters, so this is not meant to take anything away from them, but there is a clear difference in depth that they have not reached yet. Right now, the newer characters are simply more emotionally compelling, and their presence has really elevated this season for me, making the overall story hit much harder so far as you'll see in the coming episodes Nich.

pancake boi

This season is like the alfheim arc in sao, but done way better. They just take a break from the adventure and expand the lore and depth of the story

Explaining what happened this episode without spoiling anything. After Iru absorbed the egg she wished to be a mother and her body took a grotesque form in the shape of her wish. The babies where underdeveloped so they kept dying one by one but more developed each time. Vueko had fallen ill along with the others from the pseudo water, however she feels better after Wazukyan feeds her a delicious smelling soup. She wakes up as if she was never ill in the first place and finds out that Wazukyan used Iru's babies for food and becsuse they're a cure for the illness. That's why Belaf went mad, because he knew he was eating her babies. We come to find out that when Vueko had fallen ill, Iru grew weak as well, connected by a psychic connection of sorts. At that moment Wazukyan fed her another egg but with HIS wish still intact. I imagine his wish being something like "safe sanctuary" or a "safe haven". THAT is why Iru's body grew huge, because of HIM not because of her own wish to become a mother. They said adults shouldn't use these eggs because their minds are complex and in turmoil so they might end up dying. But we've seen Wazukyan, this fuckers mind is clear as day, he knows what he wants, his wish is clear. When vueko jumped off the cliff and Wazukyan caught her, she mentioned that he used an egg on HIMSELF. Now we know that's not crazy, he can use them like candy. The reason he used one on himself could've been as a backup plan, if Iru had failed to become their sanctuary, he would have been the one to become their sanctuary instead. That's why he said "im glad we made it in time" any longer and he would've turned like her. When Wazukyan visits Vueko in the dark room he said that the egg he used on himself went to waste, that's because his body fucking exploded to become a hollow like how belaf did. That's when the egg probably fell out of his body and failed to complete his wish. The hollow people took the egg and worshipped it for a time. However, Iru who became the village, with the little strength remaining in her mind, she attempted to sneak the egg out of the village and fulfill one final wish with that third egg, for a final child to be born, faputa. That child harbored all of Iru's pain, all of her suffering and rage she endured because of Wazukyan. With many years passing, the village grew bigger because they were offering it value. It's from that "Luring" thing they did before where they hunt creatures inside the village. Anyway that's all, if i got everything wrong then just fucking wipe your memory men in black style from everything u read here.

Ivan Dukov

Man, thx for the explanation. Rewatching this show and keeping find out new stuff for myself. You said wazukyan used wish egg to himself as some kind of a backup plan and it made so much sense to me know, when he used his ability and covered the village with wooden net, which showed, that his longing for the safety of his crew took it's form in this crazy way.. WAZUKYAN IS SO FUCKED UP, BUT WHAT A GOAT LEADER, because of that I hate, when people say, that 2nd season felt boring...It is has so many intricate plot lines and packed in just 12 episodes

Hxlo

I was unsure about this season but man after ep 7 and 8 geez this show became a top 5 anime for me

Vincenzo

You're not enjoying this season as much as the previous ones because you're constantly talking throughout the episode, missing important dialogue and not understanding what's happening. Many people have already told you that you should have paid close attention during the second season, otherwise it would have been confusing. That's not a criticism, I'm just being honest.

RadzioxxD

For me, Vueko, Belaf, Wazukyan & Faputa are more complex. But i still love Riko, Reg & Nanachi

RadzioxxD

For me, this season is all about the characters. It's true that our heroes have a break because this is, after all, layer six. Literally a handful have reached there and moved on. So, in my opinion, it's even better if the characters have a break to discover what this layer hides.

Idris Naama

That's completely valid. Just because something or someone is objectively better than something else doesn't mean you're obligated to like it more. Thats why preferences exists and having favourites means you love something unconditionally regardless if its objectively good or not.

Hero

WHERE IS EP 2X7??

tiggy zzz

true, i get that he's trying to be entertaining but he keeps looking away and talking when they're explaining or saying something so crucial

RadzioxxD

I mean, I actually prefer these characters to Riko, Reg, and Nanachi. My poor English is probably showing again, and I wrote something wrong. Or maybe I'm misinterpreting it. Yea.... I'm dumb

bob

the captain guy is the embodiment of toxic positivity

L1nk

Vueko: I just don't want to forget about her. ED: I still remember you.

Azariel 竜月

yeah granted it's all wierd as fck but it all stem into motherhood , sacrifice , defying the unknown , facing the consequences of your actions and or the choices or the non choices you've made along this treacherous path into a pure dive onto an attempt of ascending as GODS

Azariel 竜月

I think it's fine , he will eventually get it and since he is re-watching by himself too (he said it) , I know someday just like I did and still do on every re-watch gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of this show , it's how Made in Abyss is. we got to make him discover it and get his first impression of it all and that very cool to me.

Absolute cinema. The author is a madman

Alan Bun

I agree on a few things 1. Season 1, 10/10, movie, 11/10, but season 2 was a 9 out of 10. Don't get me wrong, I love the second season, but I think the reason is that a lot of it potentially sets up more for season 3 once the manga catches up, while also telling a fantastic story within itself. I haven't read ahead in the Manga, but from season 1 I remember seeing egg like things, similar to a cradle of desire, in the earlier layers and episodes. The green thing that opens up when Belaf enters Irimuuyi also looks very much like the green thing they jumped into to enter layer 6 at the start of the season. I know that these seem to open up your darkest desires but in a sort of monkeys paw sort of way, so I wonder if the entire Abyss is made up of people and their deepest desires. Perhaps all the creatures of the abyss are people who have used a cradle of desire. Probably just talking shite right now, but I think this season essentially sets up what we see in the depths of the abyss, in that is shows the sort of blessings/curses the cradles of desire can bring out, and I think they will play a much bigger part in future seasons. I don't think this is just a side story to show what the 6th layer is like, but that it will give more meaning to future seasons/layers. At least that's what I hope. A bottle and a half of wine deep so fuck knows lads.
