Lucifer isnt a bad dad. Like the music showed, he cares about Charlie more than anytihing, he didnt want to support the redemption hotel because he feels scared of heaven and thinks heaven doesnt deserve their trust, because of whatever things heaven did in the past to him and to his wife. He wanted to protect Charlie from heaven

Oh Lucifer, he means well. He's probably my favorite character this season actually- definitely not the best dad, made some wrong choices, but he LOVES Charlie, and you can see that in his actions, even if they are extremely misguided. Charlie mentioned a frustration she had with him is that he "allowed" the exterminations to happen, but in episode one Lute and Adam also said that his agreement for the exterminations included protection/pardoning for Charlie and other hellborns, therefore protecting her from being exterminated. So, he definitely did wrong but he also did whatever he could to ensure his daughter's safety in it all At his core he's just a depressed guy who over time (especially when his wife Lilith left) lost his hope and will to dream due to his circumstance, and became a recluse. He has never been allowed to see any of the good that has come from humanity after he gave them free will, only the terrible
