What’s crazy is don’t forget Subaru named Patrasche himself. He even named her after a dog from his favorite real-world story (A Dog of Flanders, 1872). So Volcanica knowing that name raises many questions.

My guess as an ANIME-ONLY is that there’s a time loop thing where Subaru is Flugel. It would explain why the first tower exam was based on real-world constellations, why Shaula is so insistent that Subaru is her master, why Volcanica knows Patrasche, and why Emilia’s handprint is in the tablet. And that little scorpion could genuinely just grow into the actual Shaula that waited 400 years, which would explain why she knows so much real-world slang and also why Flugel told her he would be back. Volcanica also snaps to seeing Emilia as Satella when she brings up the witch of envy, and implies they were friends before something happened that “reduced her to the witch of envy” so I’m guessing Satella really is just Emilia. Would make sense why she’s so obsessed with Subaru, and also in this ep they cut straight from Satella’s face to Emilia’s. And plz no novel readers spoil if this is right or not 🙏

Amazing season I still think Season 3 was my favorite all the characters, fights, powers just constant action was so good... But Season 4 was crazy with the story and how brutal it was. Ive personally never been a fan off amnesia arcs but Rezero did it really well and Queen Rem finally awake great season.

I think Subaru being Flugel is too simple and too obvious. Everything I've seen from the anime, and read in the novels is that nothing is ever that obvious. It's the same reason why I don't believe Emilia is literally Satella, despite looking pretty much identical. I have my own theory for all this, but I don't want to go into too much detail because I don't want to even indirectly spoil anything by accident. The most basic version though is that I think Subaru is part of a long 400 year cycle and someone, probably Echidona, at the start of it is able to observe or know about the things that happens during the time loop due to her authority, and she is trying to engineer events through the books of knowledge to push Subaru and others to make decisions to reach a certain goal.
