Please watch the extra scene for season 2! It's six minutes. Thank you for reacting to this.

Dendro

Gimme SHIPPUDEN! 🙇🏽‍♂️

Alexandra

Lev is half-russian. And yeah, nicknames get more "cutesy" I guess.

stephanie johnson

Did nick not watch the aoba Josai ova during the stream?

Ggeko

The animation got worse because its "to the top" animation. The animation studio changed from season 3 onwards, so from now on, I.G. productions animates haikyuu!. Much like when MAPPA adopted AoT and the CGI on titans looked ugly. This means the animation style is closer to the manga designs (soon you'll see the new designs for the karasuno guys (new hinata, Kageyama...)) and its FAR WORSE. The animation is noticeably worse from here, and it sacrifices quality for impact shots. In previous seasons you could predict if a ball was in or out just by looking at its trajectory before watching it land; but now even trajectory of the ball getting out of setter's hand look more sketchy. Such a shame, but you'll have to get used to it and move on.

All i’m saying is at this rate you’re not gonna make it in time for the movie. HAIKYU WEEK INCOMING?! i’m too excited for this movie

I dont think it was to bad. But really hope they step it up for the movie in terms of overall good animation not only In the impact shots and stuff you mention.

etboss
>>128424266

from the trailer it looks like the old animation is returning which is a major W

I love the Haikyuu OVAs. They add so much context, raise the stakes and make the anime feel that much more like it’s a living breathing world, where even if we’re not focusing on our main team, the world around them is still moving on too. Also, I would get used to this level of animation because when I say season 3 is peak, I meant it. It takes some time getting used to the choppy style going forward. Story is still great though

Celphan

"How did they make it this far?" Nick's question regarding one of the strongest high school teams in the whole NATION lmao No worries tho, as soon as you struggled to remember who bokuto was , I knew you didn't remember Fukurodani's play style at all

uzumaki

bokuto is my favorite character! I’m glad you watched these ovas

Sabrina

I love all those teams, they all work hard to achieve their dreams, such an inspiration 😁

Jaming

always watch OVAs… the animators and voice actor put so much love and time in these

PubicLice
>>128428660

I guess he missed the part where they say bokuto is just outside of the top 3 spikers

Beast sama

I don’t even think he realized Nekoma lost to Fukurodani lol

here's the thing: while yes, often, OVAs are more like "special" episodes that don't really relate to the main story a lot, that's not always the case. these ones are actually adaptations of the manga chapters 196-206(? somewhere around there), so they're FULLY canon. though they really didn't do well by trying to squeeze those 10ish chapters into 2 episodes, so i'd still suggest actually reading those chapters, even if it's just on your own. the easiest way to clear these things up would be to just ask, make a poll or something so you don't end up missing things. that being said, there's still that one 6-minute aoba johsai ending scene from one of the movies that people have been telling you to watch. i don't recall you having uploaded or talked about it & who knows if you'll still do it at this point if not, but here's the link anyway: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lao54_hFaA0

The animation is still good even if not as great, especially episodes 22 and 24, plus the story is still amazing as usual!

BlankJames

you should pick up the pace if you want to do a live reaction to the movie coming up in 2 weeks (just an excuse I give for you to upload more cuz I love haikyuu).

kimcch

separate comment for this bc why the hell not! funnily enough, nohebi DIDN'T actually cheat. that's their whole point. they're not breaking any rules, just taking advantage of the circumstances in any way they can - trashtalking, sucking up to the refs, blocking the view of the ball, etc. something that they for some reason didn't include in the OVAs was that at the end, kuroo actually went and stood up for that team, acknowledging that they're very skilled & intelligent, and mocking anyone thinking that "cheating" is all they're good at...so, basically you, lmao

victones

Can you put the vimeo link back Nick? Plz! We cant set the quality on this patreon player, its really bad when we try to watch it outside home on 4G/5G

Raigo91
>>128447861

100% agree, it just shows how determined they're to win, as it was stated that they are williing to do "everything", even when it becomes not too sportsman-like, but in the end the victors write history

dzuudo
>>128424266

sigh... I only hear negative comments about s4 animation. I personally think it's really beautiful its own way and im not trying to lie to myself. My honest answer

Raigo91
>>128447861

i swear like nick missed everything possible about them but what do you expect XD

Thiivi
>>128424266

I prefer the fluidity and dynamic shots of S1-3, but I actually like the art style of To The Top more. I'm hoping the movie will be a blend of the two!

Thiivi
>>128424824

It airs in Japan on the 16th, so won't it still be a couple months until it airs in other countries?

Vailing Bow

Bro forgot about the match between Karasuno and Fukurodani. Fukurodani isn't just a 1 man team. Also, Idk if Nick realized Fukurodani lost to Itachiyama.

Vailing Bow
>>128462090

Stop asking for that. He already explained why he won't. At least for a while.

Vailing Bow
>>128447861

Except they did. The trash talking and sucking up wasn't but blocking the refs view IS. Yes, they're skilled but if they constantly have to use tactics like sucking up to win and shit like blocking the refs vision deliberately completely undermines what Kuroo says about them.

Vailing Bow
>>128424266

Bruh. It's not bad animation in the least, lol. It's annoying how people like you think change = bad animation. Season 4 cour 2 did have wonky faces and bodies and a single bad animation of a jump float serve to Nishinoya, the season is otherwise fine. Not to mention there's way worse animation out there, lol

Vailing Bow
>>128424266

Etboss it's not old animation, lol. Look again. It looks more like a combination of both.

Vailing Bow
>>128424266

Dzuudo people just like to associate change with bad animation and think change automatically = bad.

Adam

17:15 Nick fully just looked at the playoff bracket, saw that Nekoma lost and said that they where gonna win the entire thing

Ggeko
>>128424266

Didnt mean to say that new designs are bad or worse, they ARE just different. What I'm trying to say is that the quality of the CGI on the ball, heck, literally what the anime has most of, is very sketchy. It looks very artificial, in comparison to seasons 1-3, and that's not my opinion, it's just done much more poorly than the clarity and meticulosity from the previous animation studio. If the ball physics were the same, I would have literally zero complaints. I much rather have s1 animation (although its 2014 animation, with much worse finishes, but having perfect ball physics, because it takes me out of the game), that of course, its just my opinion. I will say tho, new designs and close ups on hands/bokuto spike in the ova are beautiful.

kimcch
>>128447861

you can't get this far by using dirty tricks alone though. as i said, they simply took advantage of the situation. was it a cheap move? sure, but making use of all the loopholes they can find also shows how smart & crafty nohebi is. if that specific instance of them making the "out" call was against the rules, literally anyone on the field could & should have called it out, but they didn't.

Toff

Bokuto is the GOAT

Nikki C

I named one of my cats Levochka cause of this... I really feel like he does look like Lev in cat form. 😂
