honestly i don't think it's impossible that gilbert's being gaslit (part of me hopes so) he only ever says "what if i made it up" like he's unsure of himself and it wouldv'e happened about 7 years ago when he was 9ish? and it sounds like he already carried a lot of guilt and self-loathing so someone who's evil ig (like someone who beats orphans) could have used that to make him question himself and exacerbate those feelings

Damn. Okay. So, IRL part of the reason it’s very rare that kids lie about sexual abuse is because they don’t make up sexual encounters *without some exposure to those behaviors*. So it’s ALWAYS going to be a 🚩 either way. If we’re going with the theory that Gilbert lied about the sexual abuse from this specific teacher as a child, it seems pretty likely to me that he’s refusing help for being physically abused now b/c he thinks he deserves it, for having lied as a child. Which is HORRIBLE. Even if he lied entirely when he was a kid (i.e. he wasn’t abused by someone else and lied about who it was), he still does not deserve to be & should not be abused now.
