Thoughts after digesting for a while… That teacher probably would have been fine if he didn’t die. Well okay maybe not fine, but from what I’ve heard in most CSA cases in the US charges are dropped if the child can’t explain exactly how it was inappropriate, which is why it is important to teach kids the proper names of genitalia and stuff. That coupled with the fact that Gilbert is lying meaning he is unlikely to go through multiple reports with consistent stories means the case may have never even gone through. This means he likely wouldn’t face jail time even if he was fired. And later when Gilbert was older he would probably have far less guilt since he didn’t die and would have been able to explain why he lied. So while I’m sure that’s an impossible situation, I feel like it’s likely he was already facing mental health issues before for him to resort to it without even going to trial.
