Chapter 6- How to defeat an Immortal

As she stared at the defeated form of her [Pawn] she could only say one thing."Grayfia, tell my brother I agree to the rating game."

Grayfia stepped forward, "I will inform him immediately."

Riser laughedat that.

"Riser," she turned toward him and gave an icy glare, "believe me when I say we will annihilate you!" She told him.

He just walked off. "I look forward to it dear. Riser will see you in the game." And with that, he teleported back to the underworld in a ball of fire, laughing all the while.

She, on the other hand, was plotting.

Her peerage wasn't strong enough to beat the immortal Phenex on their own. They had a limited amount of time to prepare.

They would need help. And for that, she would need to do something drastic.

Riser had chosen the perfect time to strike at her and her peerage. Although technically she had 13 pieces at the moment. Many of which were either not able to compete or were in her newest [Pawn].

Issei would undoubtedly become a powerful devil if trained properly, but as of right now he was a hindrance as he counted as 8 pieces.

It was the fact she had so few members which protected her from having to challenge riser just yet.

They would need a miracle to help them in such a short amount of time, she wasn't stupid enough to think otherwise.

But … who better than that of the person with the power of God.

She opened the drawer of her desk.

She searching for the card she had received a week ago.

She was alone in the room. After having Issei healed, she had requested for her peerage to leave her alone for a bit, to 'come up with a training routine'.

While it wasn't entirely wrong, it wasn't the whole truth.

Holding the card in her hand she examined it.

Summoning cards were made to sense desires, a majority of the time they were given to humans, as they were the most likely to summon them. But other creatures were not incapable of using them.

It was that they weren't likely to summon a member not of their species, though the reasons varied.

She thought of her desires, to be free of her marriage, to get stronger, to be able to protect her family… to see her friend.

An eerie glow emanated from the card.

Within an instant, a roaring black fire emerged within the room, shaping itself into the three tomoe symbol of the Indra otsutsuki.

A figure stepped forward.

The same masked figure that had saved her peerage weeks ago had emerged.

She could tell that it was not her he had been expecting. The problem with summoning cards was that you didn't know who was summoning you. That's why you would usually schedule times for regulars and use other forms of communication to contact clients. You needed to be careful with who you give them to.

Who had he been expecting? She didn't know, but it didn't matter at the moment.

His eye morphed into its evolved form. He had attempted to use the transportation technique she had seen him use. She needed to act quick.

She grabbed onto his arm, and he stiffened at her touch.

"Don't go, please." She begged, the pain of losing him again was too much for her as a few stray tears leaked from her eyes. Though she wiped them away, it wouldn't do good to cry right now, she needed to be strong.

He was silent, as he always had been.

She reached up, and grabbed onto his mask. Surprisingly he didn't offer any resistance to the action.

Pulling it off, she saw she recognized, Naruto Namikaze.

But in an instant his appearance changed.

His black hair and pale skin becoming a golden blonde with a nice tan before her very eyes.

Inwardly she laughed, only Naruto would change his appearance only too keep the same name when going undercover.

Had he known that they were going to be attacked?

She would have to ask him about that later, but for now she needed to tell him something.

"You say you're different, you say that my best friend had died long ago." She repeated what he had told her. "But, if Naruto Uzumaki had died, so long ago. You wouldn't have come to save me. You wouldn't have protected me from that man that kidnapped us." She reasoned.

He opened his mouth to speak, but she had cut him off.

"If my friend is still in there, just listen to me. Please?" She pleaded.

He thought about it, the silence engulfing the room, until finally… it was broken.

"alright." He conceded, she smiled.

"So, your parents set you up in an arranged marriage with riser. And the only way to annul the agreement is to prove your strength in a rating game against your fiancé.

And you summon me, someone you haven't seen in years. Aside from the chance encounter, which didn't end too favorably I might add. To hire me to train you and your peerage." Naruto repeated.

"That about surmises the situation." Rias stated.

He thought about the situation, this was his old friend, one of the few connections he had to his old life.

Which reminded him, he needed to have a long conversation with Kurama. But that was for another day.

"…"

"…"

"…"

"Alright… I'll help you." He conceded. She smiled, a smile he hadn't seen in a long time, it would hurt to not see it again, but it needed to go away.

"But on one condition." He told her, she nodded, motioning for him to go on.

Taking a deep breath, "As payment for this mission, I want you to never talk to me again, to live your life and be happy as Rias Gremory."

That was the condition, he would help her and then he would disappear, everything will be as it should be.

She bit her lip, thinking long and hard. She didn't want to do it, for her peerage, her family, could she do it?

Finally, she nodded. She didn't trust her voice right now.

"You're almost there, just a few more feet!" She shouted at her struggling [Pawn].

"Visualize Issei!" Akeno shouted encouragingly.

Issei was out of breath and sweating profusely. "C-Coming!" He panted out. They were heading up a mountain, he had been given an overly large bag to carry along the way.

"On your right." Kiba stated, not struggling at all with his equally sized bag.

"Seriously! Did they give you a bag of feathers or something!" He whined.

It was then that Koneko came in, sporting a bag that was almost comical in size, it being at least ten times larger than his own.

"Move it." She told him in her usual monotonous tone.

He fell on his back. "I hate this!" He complained.

Rias looked at him in sympathy, but he needed to do this.

A few minutes later they were face to face with a large and luxurious mansion that was sitting atop a beautiful lakeside.

Issei stated in awe, he hadn't seen anything like this before. It put into perspective how rich Rias was.

"Alright guys, let's go inside and get ready for some training." She told her peerage.

"But we just got here !" Issei complained. "That's evil and nowhere even close to fair."

She turned back to him and gave him a dazzling smile , "Why thank you."

Walking off, she also informed them of something else. "I have some people waiting inside that are going to help us out."

Leaving her peerage questioning who it was.

"Dammit You Blind-Bitch !" Suigetsu yelled.

"What was that shark boy?" Hanabi retorted, just as Suigetsu was hit by an incoming blue shell.

Hanabi's car soared past him, but her screen was then covered by ink, courtesy of a blooper that her senior [Knight] had used.

Her inability to see where she was going slowed her down a bit, just enough so that Haku had managed to pass her character.

"Um Buchou, who are these people?" Issei asked.

There were three people who looked to be playing Mario Kart in the living room of the Mansion. He noticed two of the people were extremely beautiful women, while the third was a scary looking teen with white hair and shark teeth.

There was also a fourth person, who looked to be sleeping, how they could with the noise the other had been making was beyond him. They had their back facing toward them so they couldn't identify who it was.

"I have no idea." She admitted.

The sleeping figure seemed to awaken, rolling over and sitting up, rubbing his eyes as he yawned.

Was that…. Naruto Namikaze?

"Rias, is that…" Issei trained off

"Oh Hey." He greeted, "the name is Naruto Namikaze."

Silence… which was shortly broken.

"Aren't you the Bastard who burned my arm!" Issei shouted.

Naruto legitimately thought about the accusation, "I think you're thinking of someone else, I would never burn someone's arm with my ramen." He told him.

"How did you know it was ramen!" Issei called out his lie.

Naruto yawned again, ignoring him completely.

"I guess we should start with introductions." Rias stated, trying to regain control of the situation. Naruto shrugged.

She pointed to the first member of her peerage.

"This is my [Queen, Akeno Himejima." Said girl was looking at Naruto attentively, as if trying to figure him out like a puzzle.

The next piece, "The cute girl eating the sweets is my [Rook, Koneko Toujou." Said cute girl was… you guessed it, eating sweets. Where she had gotten the sugary concoction, he didn't know.

She pointed to the blonde male of the group.

"This is my valiant [Knight, Kiba Yuuto." Said blonde puffed out his chest out in pride.

The final member, the brown haired boy.

"This is my [Pawn,worth a total of 8 Pieces, Issei Hyoudou." The brunette looked rather proud of that fact.

Naruto of course knew of all of them, having done research into them. In addition to the information he had already known about them.

"Wow, 8 eight whole pieces, with that kind of potential he must have a Longinus-type sacred gear." He stated, something he already knew.

He did cast a sideways glance at his own piece, specifically his black haired [Knight].

"An astute guess." Rias noded, while Issei puffed his chest out in pride.

Clapping his hands together, Naruto stood up and spoke. " I suppose I should follow that wonderful introduction with my own, eh Tomato-Chan?" He teased.

Akeno finally understood what had bothered her about his guy… he was Naruto Uzumaki. Just change his color scheme and they looked exactly the same. When she was about to speak of her displeasure, she was interrupted.

Naruto patted the brown haired girl on her shoulders. "This cute little firecracker right here is Hanabi Hyuga, my [Knight]."

"Hyuga?" Rias asked, he nodded his head.

Said girl had blushed up a storm, an action which, unfortunately caused her to lose first place.

"Fuck yeah!" Suigetsu yelled out his small victory of overtaking the girl.

"The little PG ball of sunshine right there is my [Rook, Suigetsu Hōzuki." He introduced.

Walking over to the final member, the Ravenette. "This lovely lady right here is Haku Yuki, I had to use my [Mutant Knight] for her." He introduced the final girl.

"Fuck off!" Suigetsu shouted.

Naruto held his head low,

"Does this happen often?" Kiba questioned.

Naruto sighed, "All the time… all the time."

Life his head up, changing his mood completely he announced. "Now, Rias hired me to help her and her peerage train for your upcoming rating game." He informed. "Now! Should we get started with the tor-training?" He tried to hide his slip up, but the fox-like grin told them otherwise.

A grin the rest of his peerage members also sported.

They all were in a clearing near the estate.

Suigetsu had his head low, not liking his earlier defeat in the game . While Haku had a victorious smile and Hanabi was glad to have at least bested the [Rook].

"Alright, in order for us to train you the best, we need to know all your current capabilities. And the best way to do that is through combat." Naruto announced.

Suigetsu perked up, grinning at finally being able to fight someone.

"Not you Suigetsu." Naruto called out, instantly crushing his rising hopes of a good fight.

"I thought you said this would be a vacation." Suigetsu complained.

"I said it 'would be like a vacation', it's still a job." Naruto corrected.

"The match will be between Rias's Peerage and me." Naruto stated, shocking them all.

"Won't that be a little unfair? I mean there is so many of us and only one of you." Issei stated.

Naruto chuckled, Laughing as it were some kind of joke."Trust me, this match is totally unfair."

Rias however, was the only one to get the joke. This fight was unfair, but not for Naruto, she hoped Naruto would go easy on her and her peerage.

Akeno had a sadistic grin from finally being able to get a chance to electrocute the disguised blond that hurt her [King].

"Now, if Hanabi-Chan and Haku-Chan would be kind enough to give us some space, we can begin." He ordered , it wouldn't be good if they destroyed the entire estate.

After Hanabi and Haku had set up a sufficient barrier. They were ready to begin.

Rias's peerage surrounded him from all sides, that was good, they were playing it smart. Either the entire peerage wasn't underestimating him, or rias had told them not to. Although, it wouldn't change the outcome.

"Alright…begin" Naruto announced.

With that her peerage was off like a rocket. The close range fighters closed in, while the wizard-types would keep their distance to provide support.

It was a good plan, a standard one. Granted they didn't know his abilities and they were just a small group.

Koneko came at his right, while Kiba was at his left, each with a fist and sword respectively. While he could have moved backwards, to avoid both attacks.

If Issei had been trained in combat more he could've been waiting for him there, sadly he wasn't.

And sadly for Koneko and Kiba, he didn't move backwards, he went right. Right in the direction of Koneko's punch, which he easily dodged. Grabbing her wrist he grappled her toward Issei, who was off in the distance waiting for an opening behind them.

The girl landed on him with a thud, which slightly surprised him with how small the girl was.

He blocked the following strike that had sent at him by Kiba with a kunai he had within his sleeve. Kiba hadn't expected that, which gave him an opportunity for a counter strike.

Launching a fist into the Knight's gut, knocking him to the ground.

That gave the wizards an opportunity to strike with their comrades out of the crossfire.

Rias sent a blast of Power of Destruction at him, which he could've dodged, instead he decided to use his magic to form a small barrier.

The Power of Destruction was a powerful ability, sending a blast of condensed magic at an opponent that was able to atomize anything it came into contact with. The problem was, if it came into contact with a technique that happened to have more power than the blast, it could be overpowered.

His barrier just so happened to be something with more power within it. As such he was able to block her powerful condensed blast.

As the blast died down, Koneko along with Issei decided to attack him while he was preoccupied with holding the barrier.

He however was not caught by surprise as he ducked under the catgirl's punch as he simultaneously tripped Issei's foot. Issei not being an experienced enough fighter to know how to maintain balance and not overextend punches, had fallen over.

He kicked Issei right onto koneko, while

Kiba, who had gotten back up, thrusted his sword at him again.

Instead of blocking it with another kunai, he chose to dodge as he grabbed onto the handle to stop the incoming strike. Sending a kick at the blonde, which launched him away again, just without his sword this time.

Now with a new sword he sent it flying at Rias, who had been charging another blast of her magic . She had decided to cancel the spell as she blocked the flying sword with a barrier.

This left Akeno, who had the attack ready.

She summoned a small thunderstorm above them as a blast of lightning came flying at Naruto, who unseen by them all due to the bright flash of light, had his Sharingan active for an instant.

Naruto jumped over the bolt of Lightning as he sent a volley kunai at the [Queen]. Which, just like her [King, summoned a barrier to block the incoming projectiles.

Landing on the ground, Naruto was sporting a very fox-like grin.

This was going to be fun.

(A few minutes later)

Rias and her peerage laid on the ground, all of them defeated. While Naruto didn't even have a scratch.

"He totally kicked our asses." Issei groaned, the pain of speaking being too much for him.

"Figure that out on your own pervert ?" Koneko asked sarcastically, finding now a good time to form an insult.

"That was great, really informative, me and my peerage are going to discuss some things." Naruto announced.

A few minutes later, they were all sitting on what looked to be a nearby campsite, they had set up a small barrier to keep their conversation private.

"Ha, they suck!" Suigetsu summed it up.

"Way to sugarcoat things Hōzuki." Hanabi stated.

"It's not that they don't have potential, it's just that they haven't focused it well enough, additionally they have all their mental problems they have to deal with." Haku surmised.

"They have almost as much potential as your own peerage." Hanabi stated, "A Nekoshou, a Longinus user, a [King] with a destructive magic, and a powerful half-blood [Queen]."

Naruto nodded, "That was what I was thinking, for harnessing their potential I think we should try to help them separately. Suigetsu will be with their [Knight] and work on his swordsmanship."This Caused suigetsu to grin."Hanabi will work on hand to hand with the [Rook]. Haku will be with the [King ] and [Queen] and work on their magic's control. While I will work with the [Pawn] he seems to need the most work."

There were no complaints, but something else..

"I have a question." Haku stated, and with Naruto's nod the asked it. "This [King, Rias Gremory, she is your childhood friend is she not?"

He nodded.

"I see, the. My next question is… Do you love her?" Haku asked, surprising the whole group.

Naruto thought about the question, once, then twice and finally a third time. He thought about it until he let loose a chuckle.

"Hah, Love? How can I love someone I haven't known in 8 years." He answered

"Don't get me wrong, I do care about her. I care for her almost as much as I care for all of you." He stated .

"As I thought," Haku noded, satisfied with the answer."I just wanted to be sure."

Naruto nodded, although he didn't see the point in the question.

He clapped his hands together, and asked. "Now that that's out of the way, why don't we get started? I think they have had a long enough break."

Several days later

(With Issei and Naruto)

Issei sent a gauntlet-covered fist at his trainer, unsurprisingly, he dodged with ease. Using his foot to trip Issei, causing him to lose his balance and fall over.

"Gah! I'm done with this shit!" He whined, getting up off the dirt.

"Done already?" Naruto asked.

"Of course I'm done! All you've had me do the whole time is wear these damn weights and fight you for hours." He shouted angrily, gesturing to the bands with seals on them that weighed him down significantly.

Issei started to walk off the field.

"Alright, if you want to just give up and leave you can." Naruto told him, stopping the brunette in his tracks.

Turning back angrily, "and who cares if i do!?" He shouted.

"Me? Not really," Naruto admitted, "but Rias cares." He answered , the guilt caused Issei to feel like had gotten another hit to the chest.

"I'm not going to lie to you, not gonna spout some nonsense that you don't need to hear. Currently … You're weak." Naruto told him, laying it out flatly, causing Issei's anger to spike to greater heights.

"You're getting angry," Naruto astutely pointed out, "Emotions are a useful tool if kept in check, if not they can be a hindrance." He instructed.

" The truth is that Rias used 8 of her [pieces] on you and as of right now each and every one of them is wasted." Naruto stated, that caused him to charge at Naruto in his anger.

Launching his armoured fist at the disguised blond it was easily dodged.

"You're pathetic." Another fist was sent at him, and again it missed.

"Right now you're just a fly to who you're all up against." Like clockwork, another fist was sent, and again it was dodged, but this time Naruto used his offset balance to cause the red dragon emperor to fall on the ground.

"You don't think I know that!" An irate Issei shouted.

"I'm weak! I know! I Damn well didn't choose to be! I failed!" 'Failed to save Asia!' The last part was a thought, something his mouth could bear to speak, because if he had, he wouldn't be able to stop what came next.

"But you are choosing to be." Naruto told him. "Do you think that I grew in strength overnight, that all the power I had I didn't work for. If you don't want to be weak then you need to push forward and never give up.

You have something about you, something inside of you. That nobody else has, something that can give you the strength you need to be better."

"Are you saying… that my perverse nature can help me grow stronger, to rise through the ranks of devil hood and FULFILL MY DREAM OF BECOMING A HAREM KING!" The more Issei spoke, the more his mood had risen, until he became invigorated in the flames of the super pervert.

Naruto smirked, enjoying the [Pawn's] enthusiasm.

"Nope, I was talking about the Red Dragon Emperor." Naruto admitted, this crushed all Issei's rising confidence.

"I said I wasn't going to lie to you, Most people, they stay weak, they stay powerless . And we'll continue to be weak unless we push forward, we work hard and we train. Do you understand?" Bar asked, and Issei nodded.

"You don't want to remain weak, and you don't want to forsake the faith Rias has given you." It wasn't a question, but Issei answered anyway.

"I won't." Issei promised, telling Naruto as much as he told himself.

"Good," Naruto nodded, he then grew an evil smirk. "Why don't we up the level of those resistance seals I gave you?" He asked, causing a shiver to go up Issei's spine.

(With Haku, Rias and Akeno)

Pop!

"Again!" Haku told them.

They were currently trying to compress their magic into a small balloon. A excersize Naruto had taught her, which was actually an exercise to learn Naruto's Rasengan, although they wouldn't be learning that.

A common exercise among devils was using their magic to form larger and larger orbs of magic to help with their control. This exercise was similar, but different in principle, wanting the orb to get smaller while you also wanted to increase the magic output. This helped with compressing attacks while also increasing the potency and power.

A twist to the exercise was that she was throwing senbon made of ice at them to lower their concentration. They wouldn't have the time to concentrate in a fight and they wouldn't be able to do it now, she reasoned.

She threw another volley of needles and unsurprisingly as they dodged they managed to pop their balloons again.

She could tell the two wizard-type devils were getting frustrated with this exercise, it was a particularly difficult thing to do, but Naruto had tasked her with teaching them this. He must've had faith they could learn this skill.

"Perhaps we should take a break?" Haku suggested, much to their relief. They had several burns on their hands from the high amounts of magic they had been outputting.

She handed them each a bottle of water.

"Thank you." Rias responded, Akeno didn't say a word.

"I know this exercise can be hard,"Haku responded, "it's one of the exercises Naruto-Sama has taught me personally."

She held out her hand, a balloon in her palm, as she channeled her magic the temperature in the clearing dropped significantly.

"All it takes is hard work and practice." She told them, letting her ice magic loose as the temperature began to steadily rise to its normal heat over the next few minutes.

Rias raised an eyebrow, slightly amazed at the Knight's control.

"Haku-san, how strong would you say you are?" Rias asked, trying to gain more information on Naruto's peerage.

Haku thought about it for a minute, but she decided to answer honestly, while not giving too many things away.

"While I'm not quite on the level of Naruto or our [Queen, I would say I'm one of the stronger members within his peerage."

Rias had suspected as much, with Naruto using a [Mutated Knight] to reincarnate her. The girl had also reminded her a bit of her brother's [Queen] Grayfia, the fact they both used ice magic helped compare the similarities.

A question came to her mind.

"His [Queen]?" Rias asked, having not received any information on her yet.

"His [Queen] is someone who is very powerful, almost as powerful as Naruto-Sama himself. Although I was his first member within his peerage, she actually has known him longer." She thought about telling her more, but she stopped herself.

"I apologize, but Naruto-Sama has asked us not to reveal too much information about his peerage." She stated.

"Of course he did." Akeno muttered harshly to herself , Haku heard but decided to ignore the jab at her [King] for the moment.

Although I can tell you her designation." She said as an afterthought.

Rias frowned, but she did understand to a certain extent, although questions did come to mind.

"Designation?" She repeated.

Haku noded, "Some of us within the peerage wish to keep our identities a secret while we are out on missions. Like Naruto-Sama and Hanabi for example. So Naruto has us wear these porcelain masks."

She showed them her Rabbit mask, " I was designated with the Codename: Rabbit, while Naruto is Fox… as for our [Queen, she was designated as Dragon." Haku explained.

"Then why don't you have your masks on right now?" Rias asked.

"Aside from the fact you requested he not wear his mask, and Naruto-sama allowed it. Naruto-sama has set up a barrier around the estate to keep out any unwanted guests." Haku explained.

Rias nodded, it was very interesting, but something she said came to her mind.

"Haku, I noticed earlier during the introductions, but this Hanabi Hyuga, is she by chance related to the Hyuga clan of Devils?" Rias asked.

Haku noded, confirming her suspicions. "She is, I'm sure you already knew that because of her eyes. That is all I can say on the matter, but if you want to know more about her you would have to ask Naruto-sama or Hanabi herself."

The Hyuga were a prominent clan of devils, although they weren't a part of the 72 pillars that didn't make them any less powerful.

It was in a similar manner to Naruto's own Uzumaki Clan, although with the information she had received from her brother it wasn't hard to see why his clan was prominent.

But the Hyuga clan were known for their Doujutsu, which allowed them to see in a perfect 360 degree vision across vast distances with precise accuracy, along with the ability to see energies like the Sharingan could.

The fact that Naruto could get a clan member within his peerage was astounding.

"Like that bastard would tell you anything." Akeno said, making her dislike of Naruto known.

Haku frowned, but she didn't mind the insult, Naruto had been told worse by better people than this fallen angel hybrid.

Although she did try to refute the statement.

"You know, despite all this time, I can still tell you're precious to Naruto-sama Rias-San." She told her.

That was good to here, but she still questioned it a bit. "Really, how do you know?"

"Beside from the fact that he has told me himself, I have known Naruto for a long time to understand him well enough." Haku informed.

Rias raised an eyebrow, "Oh really,and how long have you known Naruto-kun?" She asked.

"As I mentioned earlier, I was Naruto-sama's first [Piece, though having met him a few months after his [Queen]. But to answer your question I have been a member for roughly 6 years." Haku told them.

"6 years." Rias repeated the older woman's words in shock.

She had guessed it was a long time, but 6 years was longer than she had known Naruto herself. Six years ago was around the time that she had gotten her [Queen, Akeno, so the fact Naruto had already had two [Pieces] was a little surprising too.

"Yes, it has been some time." Haku spoke fondly, clearly enjoying the time she had spent with her blond friend.

But that moment of nostalgia had ended, "alright, I suppose it is time we continue on with training." Haku ordered, ending the short break she had given them.

Rias and Akeno both nodded, both wanting to get stronger. Akeno for her [King]. While Rias wanted to for her Family, her peerage and a small part of her wanted to get stronger for Naruto, to show him how much she had grown in their time apart.

(With Hanabi and Koneko)

Hanabi parried the fist that came toward her chest, redirecting it wasn't that hard for her. She had sparred with Suigetsu many times and he was faster and stronger than the shorter girl.

Although they were of a similar age it was clear that she held the advantage in combat.

It also didn't help that Naruto had given Koneko weights to help the girl increase her speed.

Their fight came to a momentary halt.

"That was good." Hanabi complemented.

Koneko nodded, she enjoyed the fight, even though she could tell that Hanabi was stronger than her.

"But you have trouble fighting opponents that are faster than you, that's why Naruto put those sealed weights on you." Hanabi gestures to the wrist and leg bands that had a multitude of kanji.

"You also don't have any ranged attacks for fighting people at a distance, and…umm" Hanabi drew a blank, truthfully she wasn't as good of a trainer.

"Sorry, " she apologized to Koneko, "I'm not as good of a teacher as Naruto is." She admitted.

"Is Naruto-San a good teacher?" Koneko enquirer, it was actually the longest sentence Hanabi had heard her speak.

She thought about it, and a memory came to mind.

(Flashback about 1 year and 8 months ago)

"Damn!" Hanabi shouted in frustration, a contrast to the refined mask she usually wore around people. But luckily she was alone.

"What seems to be the problem?" Naruto asked aloud, startling the younger girl.

"KyA!" Hanabi totally didn't just scream , nope, it didn't happen.

"I mean… Naruto-sama, I didn't see you there." She corrected herself.

He sighed, "I thought I told you to just call me Naruto."

"I know but… Haku calls you Naruto-sama." She dodged the question.

He rolled his eyes, "I've told her too, but she just refuses to do so.", the many, many times he had tried, weighed on him.

Hanabi giggled a little, which was also usually unlike her.

But this Naruto was so different from the Naruto she had seen when they first met. It was strange, her [King] seemed to be able to flip his personality at the drop of a hat.

"So firecracker, what seems to be the problem?" He asked again.

She seemed to be in the middle of the training room with a dummy, there wasn't anything else in the room. But that didn't give him mich information.

Hanabi sighed remembering the problem. "I'm working on a move called the 8 Trigrams: 128 palms, a move the Hyuga clan has. Similar to that of the 64 palmsalthough it consists of a greater quantity of strikes at a higher speed. This causes more of our magic to enter the opponents systems, which causes even more damage to their internal organs." She explained the nature of the attack and the Jukenstyle in general.

"The problem is that I need to target specific points in the body, which are different in each person on a target with no magic whatsoever." She gestured at the training dummy.

"Ah," Naruto hummed in thought, this seemed to be a serious problem with an easy solution. "Why don't you use me as a target then?"

"What?" Hanabi questioned in shock, her [King] wanted her to attack him. Sure she had used others as practice before, mostly enemies and a few of her fellow clan members, which admittedly she regretted doing. But she hadn't expected him to volunteer himself.

"The problem is that you don't have someone to practice with, and I don't mind helping my cute little peerage member with their training." He teased a little, causing the younger girl to form a large blush on her face.

"Baka," she called him in a tsundere-like fashion.

He outstretched his arms out, "So, like I said 'why don't you use me as a target'?" He repeated.

"You're really an idiot, you know." She told him, that didn't dissuade him.

She thought about it for a long time, but after seeing Naruto's expression she finally conceded.

"Alright." She nodded.

She got ready, getting a decent amount of space to prepare the move and activated her clan's Doujutsu, the Byakugan. Until finally she charged, closing the distance within an instant.

'8 Trigra-' In her attempt to perform the move Naruto had dodged the attack, although she did notice it was at a speed that she could keep up with.

Upon noticing Hanabi's questioning gaze, he spoke up. "What, You didn't think I would just let you hit me? I've been hit by you before and they hurt like hell" He reasoned.

"Your opponent isn't gonna stand still, which means you're gonna have to account for that." Naruto instructed, "That is…if you can?" He smirked.

She returned his smirk with one of her own.

This was going to be fun.

That was a bit of a happy memory, showing how Naruto was different from those in her clan. Any of the instructors in the clan would've used a branch member to teach her as targets, none of them would've volunteered themselves, but Naruto had.

That showed her he was different.

"Yes, he taught most of his peerage something." She answered the girl's question in her bit of nostalgia.

Koneko nodded, if this Naruto guy was as good as Hanabi had said, then Issei was in good hands, they all knew he needed the help.

Although something had bothered her about the guy.

"Rias and Naruto, they seemed close." Koneko pointed out.

This brought Hanabi out of her good mood.

"As far as I know, they used to be childhood friends." Hanabi informed, but she seemed a little… jealous of that fact.

"Now, are you up for another round?" Hanabi asked, trying to change the subject.

Koneko nodded, and they soon began again.

Clang

The sound of metal hitting metal rang throughout the clearing.

Suigetsu ducked under the swing, he countered with a vicious punch to Kiba's stomach. Which Kiba tried to dodge, but it was too late.

Suigetsu's superior strength sent the blonde flying. Kiba stood up on wobbling legs, forming a new sword in his hands, since he dropped his previous one when he had been struck by the [Rook, as he charged at suigetsu.

Suigetsu easily dodged, he shot a small blast of water from his finger in a gun-like fashion.

How he could move so fast with that large of a sword Kiba didn't know.

Kiba blocked the high speed bullets with his sword, but surprisingly his sword shattered from the impact, which gave suigetsu an opening to land another strike against him.

Sending the blonde flying… again.

He got back up, this time much slower. Forming another sword he charged with the last of his strength.

And unsurprisingly Suigetsu dodged. "How do you keep doing that!" He yelled angrily.

The fact that the entire fight Suigetsu held his shark-like grin irritated him.

"What dodging?" Suigetsu questioned, "it's your attacks, they're good, but they are basic textbook attacks." He informed.

"If you can recognize them it's pretty easy to realize what you're gonna do. Try adding a bit of unpredictability. Hell, fighting the bastard so many times you learn a thing or two with that." He laughed a little at that last part, having fought his [King] a multitude of times. He knew Naruto was still out of his league but at least he got a damn good fight, at least when he wasn't getting his ass kicked.

"'The bastard'?" Kiba questioned, using the pause in their skirmish to catch some much needed breath.

"Hmm?" He asked, and he realized what he ment,"Oh Naruto." Suigetsu answered, having been around his fellow peerage members so much you got used to their personalities and inside jokes. As such he wasn't used to explaining himself.

"You call your [King]…'bastard', why?" Kiba questioned.

"Because he is, always making me do work, kicking my ass and making sarcastic comments all the damn time." Suigetsu complained.

"They why'd you join him?" Kiba asked, the thought of disloyalty didn't sit right with him. But if Suigetsu didn't like his [King] maybe he would consider joining his own.

Suigetsu shrugged, " it just made sense, Y'know."

"It just made sense" Kiba repeated.

"I don't know man," he sighed."all my life I've been training to be fighter, a swordsman, and when Naruto showed up, looking for someone with my exact skills… it just made sense."

"That's it?" Kiba deadpanned.

"What do you want from me, a heart warming love story or some shit? if so go ask the girls, for me…'it just made sense'" he told him.

"It also helped that Naruto was the one that freed me." Suigetsu added as an afterthought, then raised his abnormally large blade into the air and announced with a grin. "Now enough with the questions, time for another round."

Kiba braced himself. This wouldn't be fun.

(Hours later )

It was night time.

Both peerages were gathered around the dining table. While Naruto was sitting in the window sill and Rias standing up.

They needed to discuss some things, but first Rias decided to explain a few things to her newest devil to get him caught up.

"Long ago, devils, fallen angels and heavenly angels were at war. It was a massive destructive three-sided battle, which ultimately ended in neither victory nor defeat. Every single battle ended with several of our members wiped out or missing.

Our lifespans, since devils have very low-birth rates, are nearly eternal to ensure our population, yet as extience as a species is at risk due to the impact of that war. Most of the family lines consisted of pure blood upper class devils, that made up what is known as the 72 pillars. Three of which you have already met, mine which is the House of Gremory, Sona's the House of Sitri and Riser's the House of Phenex.

It was then that devils first began recruiting humans to increase the number in our houses, after that rating game came about. This allowed devils that were the masters of their households to provide recently converted humans with combat experience as well to show off the own abilities.

Nowadays this still has quite an impact. One's record in the rating game can provide a huge influence on their nobility and status." Rias finished, taking a deep breath.

"Man, I thought you would've taught him all this already, it gets boring hearing this again." Suigetsu complained, him long having rested his head on the table.

"I must agree with Hōzuki-San, with the first part at least , hasn't Hyoudou-San been a devil for some time, shouldn't he know this already." Hanabi asked.

This caused Issei to have a mini depression for not knowing these things.

Rias was about to answer, but surprisingly Naruto beat her to it.

"Issei has only known of the supernatural for about a month, so it's natural for him to not know the basics." Naruto answer , to which Rias noded, the fact that he knew at what time Issei had been converted didn't surprise her.

"Besides I don't know why your complaining, you don't have to explain it 15 times." He shot back.

Suigetsu laughed, "Heh, I could never be one of those high and mighty high-class trash, always having to babysit all those brats all the time." He laughed.

Naruto was about to retort but he was cut off.

"But dude, think of all the women you could have, and all of their lovely bodacious boobs!" Issei proclaimed, trying to convert another believer in the ways of the harem king.

Suigetsu grinned, " heh… true."

Koneko and Hanabi didn't look pleased at the way the conversation was going.

"Perv/Perverts." They spoke in unison.

"Okay, moving on." Naruto said, trying to get back on topic. " Can we speak about what we came to speak about in the first place?" He asked Rias.

She nodded, but spoke. "You guys look pretty tired, what do you say we have some tea first?" Gesturing to her [Queen].

Akeno stood up, "Sounds good I'll go make it!"

A few minutes later, and with them all now with proper refreshments, although Akeno happened to give Naruto's slightly more forceful, they were ready to begin.

"Now that we have proper refreshments, I think we should begin… your opponent is Riser of the Phenex clan." Naruto spoke, gesturing for Rias to go one.

"You are correct," she nodded. "Riser Phenex is a man who has won 8 of the 10 rating games he has participated in. He also has a full peerage which consists of 16 members. Additionally he is a part of the Phenex Clan a clan with high regenerative abilities which, the strongest of the clan, it makes them about as immortal as you can get, which nearly makes them invincible." She was about to go on more but heard a particular noise.

Naruto chuckled a bit, drawing attention towards himself.

"Oh sorry, it's just I have to say your information is wrong." He admitted.

Rias raised an eyebrow, "Oh, and why is that?" She asked, wanting to know if Naruto knew of anything that could help them.

"Believe me, I've fought an immortal-" this caused Haku to let loose an involuntary shiver. " and they aren't that hard to deal with when you know hiw." He told her.

"I suppose you would know?" Rias conceded, not liking to admit she might've been wrong on something, although Naruto would know more on this particular subject.

"What does she mean by that?" Issei asked in a whisper, Kiba shrugged.

"What she means is, I'm actually part Phenex." Naruto answered, shocking most of Rias's peerage, how he heard their question they didn't know.

"What! So that means your related to that bastard!" Issei shouted.

"You don't look anything like him." Kiba admitted.

"My father was of the Phenex clan, so while I am related to Riser, it's very distant. And I'm not a member of their clan, nor do I consider them family. As for my looks" He lifted up his hair to show them the back of his neck. " I actually have blonde hair and tan skin, this seal just changes it a bit, I usually wear this when I'm out and about like this for a couple of reasons." He explained.

"Now where was I?" He asked Rias.

"You were talking about immortals."

Rias answered, she was paying full attention, this was information she needed to hear.

"Ah, yes now I remember. While he may be considered an immortal, it's really just a high regeneration. This comes with a large amount of drawbacks." He answered.

"Such as?" Rias asked, wanting him to continue.

"Such as the fact that he still needs his bodily functions, eliminating the oxygen in his lungs for a long period of time is a viable solution, a suffocation is also something you could attempt and eliminating other things the body needs to survive. Additionally, although his regeneration gives him a resistance to poisons, a potent enough poison is able to damage him." He explained, Haku cringed at a particular memory.

"Additionally, his regeneration is activated by fire, so a large amount of water or water magic could deal with it. Sitri magic would work well against them. I suppose you could also eliminate the oxygen within the air, which wouldn't allow the fire to form and suffocate him at the same time." He commented.

Rias grimaced, while this information was good, she wasn't a Sitri nor did any of her peerage know water or wind magic to such a degree. And she didn't know where to find such a potent poison, nor did she think she would be able to use it in combat.

"An easier way is to disintegrate his entire body leaving no traces of him left to regenerate from."

That next part was easier, but it was still beyond her at the moment.

"An easier way is the fact that he is still a devil, so any holy objects or magics still affect him the same way as any other devil." He told them.

Issei grimaced, remembering the particular feeling of getting stabbed by a light spear the second time.

"But I find the easiest way to deal with high regeneration is to continually damage his body so much that his regeneration can't keep up, eventually his stamina will run out and he will no longer be able to regenerate." He finished. He would usually use Amaterasu, which burned for 7 days and 7 nights to do the job.

Rias thought about the information, this was news to her. She had long since thought beating Riser was an impossible task, but now she had insider information that told her otherwise.

"Do you mind if I think about this for a little while?" She asked.

Naruto shook his head, "it's getting late, why don't we all get to bed?" He suggested.

"I think that will be alright." She agreed, and their peerage members began to leave.

"Oh and… do you think I can speak with Akeno and Koneko for a bit?" Naruto added as an afterthought.

She thought about it.

"I don't see why not." Rias stated, causing the two to halt in their movements.

As she left the three in the room, she couldn't help but wonder what they were going to talk about.

They just stood there, waiting for Naruto to speak. But he just sat there silently , on the window sill, looking out the window.

None of them said a word.

Until finally Akeno snapped, "What is it that you want?" She asked, a little more forcefully than usual.

Koneko was slightly surprised at her Queen's sudden aggravation towards the blonde.

But Naruto didn't react, until finally… he spoke.

"Tell me," he started, "what do you think your chances are for winning the rating game?" He asked them.

That left them a little surprised, but Akeno answered almost immediately.

"We're going to win." She stated, having full confidence in her [King] and her plans.

Naruto raised an eyebrow, "Oh really, and how do you figure that? They have far more members, a [Queen] just as powerful as your own, and a more even powerful and experienced [King]."

He leaned forward, now facing them.

"So how do you think you'll win?" He asked again.

Surprisingly it was Koneko who answered, "we can't, not as we are now."

This answer shocked Akeno, but Naruto nodded.

"She's right, all you have is your [King, who sadly isn't a match for theirs at the moment. A [Knight] who would rather do things alone, a [Bishop] who can't control his power. And a [Pawn] who doesn't know the first thing about combat, no matter how many times I beat it into him.

And then there's you two…"He paused, standing up from his sitting position and walking towards them.

"Two [Pieces] who'd rather fight half-assed than face who they are." He finished, laying out their situation.

That statement surprised them.

He smirked, "What? Did you really think I wouldn't know that you're a Nekoshou, or a half-fallen angel and the daughter of Ba-"

Akeno interrupted him.

"Don't you say that Name!" She shouted angrily.

"Did I touch a nerve?" He mocked, "You must hate him a lot, seeing as how you'd rather spite your father than help your best friend."

She grabbed his shirt collar, and pushed him against the wall, all the while he still had that Damned Smirk. "Are you questioning my love for Rias." She hissed.

Naruto uncaring of his current situation, answered her. "Not at all, but I just have to wonder, when all the cards are laid out, what do you care about more? Your love for Rias or your pathetic little ideals of not being true to yourself."

"You Have No Right To Say I Don't Love Rias." She spat.

Off to the side, Koneko wanted to stop this, but she couldn't deny the things that he had said. Did she love rias more than she feared herself and in the end… she didn't know what she was the answer.

"Your absolutely right," Naruto admitted. "but the thing is… I'm here. I'm giving it my all, when everything is all over, can you say the same?" He questioned.

She threw him onto the ground, him letting her, but all the while he was mocking her with that blasted smirk.

Standing up as he wiped himself off, seemingly undamaged by the fall. "Just some food for thought."

Heading towards the door, he spoke "I suggest you take my words under heavy consideration."

He put his palm on the door, "oh and," he pushed on the door, "it's rude to listen on other people's conversations, Rias-Chan." He chastised.

There standing at the door was Rias, surprised that he knew she was there ease-dropping

After the interesting conversation they all had a multitude of thoughts.

Koneko's were on the guilt and fear she felt at his words.

While Rias and Akeno were going through a similar line of thought.

They were going to prove him wrong.

An: I'm actually a little surprised at the length of this chapter, it being a little under 8.5k words. Which was a pain to proofread.

Ideally I would've had a chapter with Naruto and Rias not meeting, but decided against it. I hope this flowed properly. And I hope I got all the characters' personalities and speech patterns right. (Comments if you think I did something wrong.)

Rias summoned Naruto and Naruto couldn't refuse to not help her while also trying to push her away.

We got some information on his peerage members and [Queen].

As for Akeno's anger toward Naruto. The way I have it written is that she drew parallels between herself and Rias. Seeing Rias's pain she overlapped her own hatred of her father with Naruto, thinking that they both abandoned the people they love. Which for Naruto isn't entirely true . It doesn't help that he caused her best friend pain while she doesn't know the fulls story. I'm using some of her character's flaws to try an add a complicated dynamic.

Hanabi- she might seem a bit OC-ish, and mainly that is intentional. We haven't seen much of her in Boruto or Naruto, which leaves much to the imagination. In this Fic I made her 16, 2 years younger than Naruto. I wanted her to have a large admiration and a almost but not quite hero-worship. She won't be as mature as she is in boruto, and she doesn magically become a good teacher. Her power level will be around Neji, although I might give her a power up of some kind. Also I planning on giving her backstory next chapter.

Haku- I wanted her to give off a calm, understanding, helpful attitude, almost like how a [Queen] should act (similar to her canon personality). This is to contrast Naruto's actual [Queen]. She also had a mean-streak when it comes to protecting her master, like when in canon Haku broke Gato's arm. Age Wise she is 20, 2 years older than Naruto, similar to that of the canon. She is also one of the strongest in his peerage, reasons should come later as her source of power is a surprise. Although I did hint to it in this chapter. Backstory coming next Arc.

Suigetsu-I wanted him to have a laid back attitude, while also bei the spitfire he is. Probably the hardest to write because I totally forgot his speech patterns in canon, and couldn't find many clips of him. Power wise he is in the middle of his peerage, slightly below Hanabi because he is more situational with him needing water nearby for a power up. Backstory coming

With the last conversation. This Naruto is far more Manipulative, i mean he's a devil so it makes sense. He knows the best way for Akeno and Koneko to accept themselves and by proxy get stronger for Rias, is to have them confront their fears. I mean Rias used the gentle approach for years and it hasn't worked. He is using guilt and their love for Rias a sort of motivation in a way.

It was the same way with Issei, he confronted his doubts head on and allowed Issei's anger and guilt of not being able to save asia to emerge and not be bottled up as much.

A flaw in their character is that they have near immediate ways to get stronger and don't use it, they don't even feel guilty (or it's not shown). Koneko I can understand, her power could cause her to lose control, plus she will actually need training. But Akeno just doesn't want to accept that she is like her father in anyway.

I get that this is a story and the writers need character growth and for them to get stronger with the power of love and all that. But I want them to actually seem a bit more human.

You should have enough information on who his [Queen] is if you think outside the box.

Bishop- I think I have a character I want for his second Bishop, who also will be a pairing for Kakashi who is Dog, or Naruto's [Pawn]. But it's either Shizune or Anko.

Next chapter: Is them finishing up the training and the Riser fight.
