Chapter 2 - The Beginning After the End - Part 2
“Uhhh… am I seeing this right?” Hal Jordan said, looking inside the small crater, which was evidently inside of a much larger crater, many of them not knowing quite what had happened here.
“No, you and I appear not to be hallucinating,” J’onn spoke. “Are you sure this is the man you saw?”
“Yeah, I’m sure. He just looks… alot less glowy.” Barry pointed out that the boy looked a lot different than what he had seen before, battling the white-haired goddess back in California. “You two have been to space alot more than I have. Any idea where this guy is from?”
“Beats me, I’ve traveled to the farthest reaches of the universe, haven’t seen a guy like this anywhere,” Hal answered. They all turned to the Martian expectantly, wondering if he had anything to add to the matter.
“I’ll be willing to admit that my knowledge of every extraterrestrial life form is rather limited,” J’onn J’onzz replied.
“Alright… so, what are we going to do with this guy? He’s out like a light,” Hal asked.
“I don’t know, feed him, take him out for walks?” Flash snarked.
“Dude, he’s not a pet!” Hal shot back. Barry just shrugged.
Before Martian Manhunter looked up to the sky, witnessing a new problem. “It appears we have company,” he pointed.
The other Justice League members looked over to see what he was referring to.
Several large, black aircraft were flying through the sky, heading straight for their location. And they were flying fast.
“Supervillains?” Barry asked.
“Worse,” Hal told him.
“What can be worse than——”
“It appears to be your American Government,” said J’onn.
“Ummm… should we do something about this?” Flash asked.
“Well, we’re about to,” answered GL.
Landing in the large crater that was the devastation of the large fight, as tens of soldiers moved out from the planes, each dressed in black Kevlar armor, and carrying a large amount of weaponry, which included rifles, grenades, and bazookas, to name a few. Each poised at the ready as they moved towards Naruto’s location.
“Oh no, you don’t!” Hal Jordan shouted, using his Green Lantern ring to create a large wall to prevent the soldiers from nearing their target. All of the soldiers proceeded to point their guns at Hal, though his barrier blocked it should they proceeded to fire.
“Stand down!” A new voice called out, as out of a helicopter, stepped a rather large— though very short and stocky- African American woman with short black hair and dark eyes. She was wearing a formal, government-style business suit with neutral colors and flats to walk on the harsh ground.
This was Amanda Waller, one of the highest-ranking United States Agents in the Government, the director of A.R.G.U.S., which on paper didn’t exist. And overall, to many people in the country, the one woman on the entire planet you didn’t want to fuck with the most.
What was she doing here?
“Waller? What does the Government want here?” Hal asked.
“I should be asking you the same question; this is US territory, the Green Lantern Corps has no jurisdiction here,” Waller told him, with firmness to her voice, evident in her Governmental power.
If Hal Jordan were any other person, he would have faltered, but he was a Green Lantern Core member, a member of the core that exalted willpower and valor; as such, he didn’t back down.
“That’s where you’re wrong, the Green Lantern Corps is responsible for over 3600 sectors of the universe. They’re part of the protectors of Earth, they, and the Justice League,” Hal told her.
“Yeah, he’s right, and we’re not just going to let you take this guy if we can help it!” Flash interjected, deciding for the three of them what they were going to do.
“Oh, really?” Waller questioned, letting no anger on her face show at the fact that she had been too slow to handle this matter quietly. “Because from what I can tell, we’ve got two aliens making a ruckus over the entire planet, and we’ve tracked one of them down to this location, American soil. And we’re not about to let such a specimen go unpunished,” the Government woman argued.
Barry just scoffed, “Oh, please, you just want him because he’s strong and can be used as an asset.” The flash knew the type of person Waller was, one of those government types, the kind that would no sooner pat his back for saving the world than strap him to a metal chair and find out what made him tick.
Amanda ignored the comment.
Nevertheless, J’onn made his presence known as well, density shifting through Hal’s green construct like he was passing through air. “But even still, perhaps there is some kind of diplomatic pursuit we could make,” he proposed, trying to make some peace in the situation.
“If you think I’m just going to allow another alien criminal to go, then you—” she tried to say, but then she was cut off.
“Then maybe we could be of some assistance in this mess?” A new voice spoke, one that was unexpected.
As everyone looked up, spotting three figures floating in the sky.
The first one was a woman, beautiful, tall, athletically built, with olive skin, Greek-Mediterranean, with long, thick black hair running down her back and blue eyes. She wore what appeared to be a red and gold low-collared, strapless leotard with a double ‘W’ symbol running along her collar. A blue armor-like skirt with white stars; she also wore a bit of jewelry, namely a golden tiara and arm bracers. Knee-high gold and red boots, as she had her mystic lasso tied at her hip, the ‘Lasso of Truth.’
This was Diana of the island of Themyscaria, Diana Prince, or, as she was more commonly known, Wonder Woman.
The next was a flightless, male, dressed in dark colors, dark, intimidating, with a grey custom Kevlar (among other materials) suit, a black bat-symbol on his chest, a utility belt that held various objects. Dark trousers and boots, as he also wore a long black cape, and a black cowl with horns on each side that resembled a creature of the night, with white slits around his eyes to prevent anyone from knowing the color. Without his suit, he was a muscular, highly charismatic black-haired male with blue eyes.
This was Batman, the protector of Gotham, and to everyone’s surprise, his civilian identity was Bruce Wayne.
However, the third male was arguably the most intimidating, being the one to speak—he was also the one holding Batman by the arm as they flew.
He was a tall, broad-shouldered, handsome male with a light skin tone, short black hair that was slightly curly, a strong jawline, and a confident expression. For an outfit, he wore one that was relatively simple, that being a skin-tight blue bodysuit, red boots, and a red underpants-like pair of shorts over his costume. On his chest was a red and yellow ‘S’ symbol, the symbol of his family, standing for hope. A long, flowing red cape that billowed in the wind.
This was Superman, or his secret identity, Clark Kent, or on his home planet, Kal-El, of the house of El, the Last Son of Krypton.
The three are the three greatest founding members of the Justice League, people who were widely disputed as the three greatest heroes on the planet.
The Trinity.
For them to be here, here and now, that meant that this was serious, more serious than anything else in the world.
Immediately, Waller grew tense in the situation. “It would seem that diplomacy might be our best option for this matter,” she told them.
“Yes, it would…” glared Batman.
XXX
Some time later.
“So I don’t get it, this is the guy who caused all of that chaos?” a male said.
He was a tall blonde male with a goatee and a domino mask. Wearing an outfit that was similar to a dark green tunic, green spandex pants, boots, arm guards, a domino mask, and a bycocket hat. On his back was a quiver and his trusted bow.
This was Oliver Queen, the Green Arrow.
“Yeah, hard to believe it, given he’s been sleeping so much. I hear he’s been out like a light for over a week,” the woman next to him said.
She was a buxom, very beautiful blonde woman with blue eyes and red lips. Wearing a black leotard with fishnet stockings, a blue leather jacket, and boots. A black necklace around her neck.
This was Black Canary.
They stood behind a quarantined section of the medical bay. The Justice League had taken the boy they had found to the watch tower, the only secure place in the world they hoped could hold him. As well as prevent others from utilizing his unconscious state for whatever means someone might want his body.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
Right now, they are watching his vitals being stable from the other room behind a reinforced door and window. A low, rhythmic noise is ringing from the heart monitor, letting them know he is still breathing.
“Are we sure this kid is stuck like this? I mean, should we be worried or something?” Oliver asked. The boy had been sleeping for quite a bit, had been in a pretty big fight, and from the look on his clothes, they concluded he had been fighting alot longer than on Earth. If that were the case, he wondered how long and how intense the battle had been before he caught their attention.
That thought scared him a little. After all, he was just a guy with a bow; what was he going to do against a battle with a god?
Dinah just looked through the clear panelling, “Well, the league had the best doctors check him out, he’s perfectly healthy, all things considered. Though they’re not sure when he’s going to wake up,” she said.
The Green Arrow nodded, “Right, and that’s why J’onn’s been going in to check on him, trying to see if he can read his mind or wake him up.”
As Dinah pressed the button for the intercom, “J’onn, any luck?” she asked, a pointed expression, as the Martian Manhunter stood over his bedside.
Trying to use his telepathy to get any semblance of their newest alien invader, but unfortunately, not even a name seemed to go through to him. “Unfortunately, not… I’m not getting anything… his mind… it’s still very clouded…” J’onn J’onzz spoke, somewhat strained as he was focused.
“That’s unfortunate,” Dinah said with a frown.
“I say it’s pretty good, mean, we don’t know where he came from, not if he’s just another whacko, ready to tear our face apart,” Oliver voiced, saying the quiet part out loud.
“Be quiet, Oliver,” Dinah told him.
“But I—”
“Shhh!” she shushed, shutting her fellow blonde up.
“W-wait!” J’onn said suddenly. “I’m starting to read something! His mind… it’s very dark, wet… l-like a storm, and there’s walls…” The Martian spoke, his voice getting even more strained with every word.
“J’onn, do you hear us, J’onn?” Dinah said, through the intercom.
“It… like a maze, a maze and… something is… pushing me out,” J’onn said.
Green Arrow immediately rushed for the microphone, “J’onn, get out of there!”
“Ahhhh!” the Martian screamed, before clutching his head in pain, nearly falling over as he did so.
“J’onn!” Canary shrieked.
“I’m… I’m okay…” Manhunter finally voiced, using the nearby wall for support. “I just… lost myself a little,” he said, trying to recover.
Beep. Beep. Beeeeee—-
The low hum of the electrocardiogram made itself known, his heartbeat stopping, as he started to flatline.
“Wah?” was all J’onn could say in utter surprise, not expecting such a thing to happen.
Naruto’s heart began to stop, and if they didn’t do something, he would die.
Immediately, the Maritan Manhunter got to work, rushing for Naruto’s body as he tried to perform what he knew to be chest palpitations. “It’s… It’s not working!” J’onn said, placing his hands over the boy’s chest as he tried to restart his heart, though that didn’t seem to be working.
“Damn it, J’onn, what did you do while you were in there!” Oliver shouted, but Dinah got to work. Immediately heading towards the locked reinforced metal door before the Emerald Archer could stop her. “Dinah, wait!”
“Here, J’onn, let me!” Dinah said, the Martian moving to the side, as she immediately started to perform chest compressions on the boy. Even as the boy was flatlining, “The defibrillator, over there!” she shouted, pointing to J’onn, who immediately handed her the object. The room had already been prepared for any medical emergency. “Clear!” she said, giving his chest a shock.
No response.
“Clear!” Dinah shouted once again, hitting Naruto’s chest. But she didn’t get anything, as J’onn upped the voltage. “Clea—— krk!”
Snatch!
It happened in an instant, one moment, Naruto was unconscious, sitting peacefully on the gurney, the next… his eyes snapped open, as he fought back. Before anyone could notice, Dinah found her neck snatched from her, as she was lifted off the floor.
“Ack—Ecchhh!” she struggled, as a hand clutched at her throat.
“Dinah!” Green Arrow shouted, immediately readying his bow and arrow.
“Who are you, people? Where am I?!” Naruto shouted in a foreign language, his body immediately reacting to the situation.
“Can’t… brea….” Dinah gasped, trying to clutch at her neck and pry Naruto’s grip from her. She couldn’t scream, couldn’t use her powers, because at the moment, she couldn’t get any oxygen. It just happened so fast, so surprisingly, she didn’t have any time to prepare.
‘STOP THIS, YOU ARE IN THE COMPANY OF FRIENDS, WE MEAN YOU NO HARM!’ Martian Manhunter said, not through his words, but through his mind, as he mentally projected himself into Naruto’s consciousness.
“Argh! Get… out of my head!” Naruto shouted, obviously fighting back against J’onn’s influence, breaking himself free from the Martian’s influence.
It was then, in this struggle, that Oliver acted, letting loose his arrow as Naruto was distracted, trying to help Dinah. Naruto caught the arrow by the shaft seamlessly, as if he were catching the wind, as he immediately looked towards the man who shot it at him, the arrowhead just inches from striking his chest. The shinobi’s eyes locked on him, and it was in that moment that Oliver realized how much he fucked up. If this man wanted to, he could snap him like a twig. Despite all his skills, all his intuition, if this boy wanted to, he could make it so that it wouldn’t matter.
Snap!
The snap of Oliver’s arrow was itself known between Naruto’s fingers, as the arrowhead fell to the floor. He could snap Dinah’s neck all the same, could kill her before any of them made a move, he could do it…
But then he looked at the woman, seeing the fear start to form, to set in, even as she struggled to breathe. Her body was nearly giving out, as she lost all fight within her.
Reactively, Naruto immediately threw Dinah to the side, Martian Manhunter catching her in that instance, making sure she was alright, and the blonde woman finally was able to breathe again.
Naruto uses this instance to run out of the room and into the watch tower.
XXX
Naruto didn’t know what was going on; his mind was hazy, and his body felt… different.
He had woken up in a strange place, stranger than any place he had ever seen before— with the interior layout reminding him of one of Orochimaru’s labs. Waking up with strange people he hadn’t ever seen before, dressed in strange outfits he had never seen before. The green one— not the weirdest thing he had seen, compared to someone like Hoshigaki Kisame—had tried to get into his mind, some sort of weird jutsu or something, which reminded him of the Yamanaka clan.
Naturally, he hated it, and he had the feeling it was messing with his body.
He didn’t know how, but he could feel his sensory abilities acting up and going haywire. Though not in the way that he would usually expect, as he felt his senses absolutely heightened, not lessened.
He didn’t know why; it was as if the ability were supercharged.
As he was able to see the whole facility, winding around with several rooms, people, and strange technology, he could see each level, each minute detail, and floor of the whole facility, though for some reason he couldn’t quite see what was outside of the building, as it was all black. He didn’t worry about that now; he needed to find a way to escape, wherever he was.
He used this strange sensory ability to whine down the hallways, being sure to weave into places where he could not be spotted.
There had to be an exit somewhere, had to be somewhere he could escape from here, though even if he could see everything, it was hard to tell, this place was too foreignly built for him to even try to figure out where to go.
All the while, a suspiciously red blur kept popping up in his vision, almost too hard to track and pay attention to on his own.
WHOOOOOSHH!!!
He dodged it almost too late, a red blur running past him, right into the spot he had previously been, as a man stopped right in his tracks.
“Whoa, you’re fast,” Naruto said, narrowing his eyes, not that the man could understand him, seeing as how he was speaking in a completely different language.
“Huh? Is that Japanese?” Barry questioned, it sure sounded like it, though slightly different than any other bits of the language that he had heard. Strange.
Nevertheless, Naruto realized instantly that he couldn’t understand the man either, as he tried to escape from him, moving down to the corridor, the Flash stopped him.
The speedster appeared right in front of Naruto, leaning against the wall lackadaisically.“I wouldn’t go there if I were you! The med bay is back that way, and so why don’t you head back there and—?”
He was interrupted as Naruto did a backflip and jumped onto the sealing, using chakra to stick to the walls as he walked over the Flash from where he was blocking, leaving Barry in the dust.
“Well, isn’t that just rude?” Barry sighed, running past Naruto again.
“Out of my way!” Naruto said, trying to push past him, but he could see that it wasn’t going to work, as he went on the offensive, trying to punch the man for blocking his path.
“Missed me!” Only for flash to zip past him before the blow could land. Naruto struck at him again.
“Oops! Try again!” only for Flash to dodge, a kick this time.
“RAH!!”
“One more?”
“Grrrh!”
“Behind you!” Flash yelled as he was behind Naruto, trying to poke him in the back.
Snatch!
Was the sound of Naruto turning and grabbing the Flash by his hand when he neared, being able to sense him from behind as clearly as if he were in front of him.
“Uhhh.. uh-oh!” was all Barry could say as Naruto smirked.
Throwing the speedster at a nearby wall as he fell to the floor. “Ohhh!” he groaned out in pain. As Naruto continued on his way, the Flash needed a minute or two to recover.
.
.
.
Naruto felt like a rat trapped in a maze, trying and failing, but moving through every corridor and dead end he could find, not understanding the layout of this place at all. What’s more, he had to evade more of those strangely dressed people, which he found particularly easy. He was a ninja, after all, and stealth—though how little he used it—— would always be one of his specialties. They were searching for him, hunting him, he could tell as they moved throughout the halls. Luckily, they didn’t know his location or didn’t know where he was headed—not that he knew where he was headed, mind you. The people he did fight, he realized, some were strong, but he found he made quick work of them, not that he knew why.
His body felt… off, he supposed.
Stronger, he could tell from each movement, that fact, and when he could feel his feet start to sink into the metal of the floor a little, if he didn’t consciously stop that from happening since he was running so fast. He didn’t have time to contemplate why exactly it was happening, his shinobi instincts kicking in that moment, knowing he was in foreign territory in a strange place.
It was when he reacted in another hallway that he encountered a new problem, namely a large green wall that appeared right in front of him.
“Going somewhere?” Hal Jordan spoke in English, holding his ring out, as it was projecting a barrier for Naruto to not be able to get around. “Look, dude, you’ve been running around long enough, don’t you think it's time for you to go nighty night?” Green Lantern smirked.
Naruto didn’t see the humor in it, not understanding the man.
As he did a few hand signs, and did a Great Fireball Jutsu and launched it at the Green man, which for some reason was a lot larger than he had expected, maybe he added a little more chakra than he first thought? His control is acting a little strange because of what the green man did to him.
Nevertheless, the fireball did its job, as a massive amount of flames was sent at Hal Jordan, encompassing the entire hallway.
“Whoa,” was all Hal Jordan said, as he wasn’t expecting Naruto to pull off such a move. Forming a barrier with his willpower, a green construct appeared, blocking the fireball, smoke appearing throughout the air, disrupting his visibility. And, as it dissipated, Naruto was nowhere to be seen, leaving a rather large hole in the floor, letting him know Naruto had escaped.
“Well, isn’t that just great?” Hal remarked. Resolving himself to find this guy once again.
XXX
Naruto continued to run, to dodge and evade on this new level, having dodged the strange green-dressed man who could create constructs that were similar to some of the Kekkei Genkai he had seen. Ice and wood release, being an example, allowed the user to create similarly created constructs, though earth release was also similar. But, he could tell a strange energy was coming from the ring he had.
It felt oddly like Spiritual energy—with an odd mix of Senjutsu energy mixed in— though not quite the same. And he could tell that it radiated from the object, which also perplexed him. The only thing he could see being similar was the 5 treasured tools of the Sage of Six Paths, or perhaps Samehada, the living sword that feasted on people’s chakras.
Not that he had any time to contemplate such things, mind you, he was on the run right now.
From a man who could move at speeds most people couldn’t track… not exactly ideal.
Naruto found himself at a large door at the end of a hallway, and upon the room opening for him, which he found strange, given doors in his world didn’t do that, but he supposed maybe it was motion-activated or something. He then found himself in a large open room with a big window. And that’s when he saw it…
“Whoa…” was all he could say, not expecting such a view.
It was then he realized why he couldn’t exactly sense the outside of the building he was in, and why it, for some reason, appeared to be a total black abyss.
That’s because it was a black abyss.
As he neared the window, he saw space.
It was space. Outer space.
As millions of fleeting and flickering stars were now within his view.
And he just seemed so… small, if that was the right word. So out of depth, for some reason, like his mind was telling him something, trying to say that he was missing something, but couldn’t quite see what.
It was strange, as if it were on the tip of his tongue, why couldn’t he remember? What was he trying to tell himself? He couldn’t quite figure it out.
That irked him more than he was willing to admit.
And unfortunately for him, it would seem he wouldn’t have time to contemplate it any longer. “Well, look what we have here!” A voice said, it was Hall Jordan, who had followed the shinobi to the area he was in.
As the Green Lantern member formed a wall in front of Naruto, preventing any measure of escape, the boy could have.
“Huh?” Naruto’s eyes widening, as he was surrounded, it would appear that he had been too focused on what was outside to pay attention to his surroundings, a rookie mistake, to be sure, and one that might end up costing him.
“Hey Hal!” The Flash said, running into the room after having scoured the watch tower. “Oh, good, you found him!”
“Not just found him, I caught him!” The Lantern pointed out. “Now, why don’t I open a hole for you and you round the kid up so we can get him back to where he’s supposed to be!” he instructed, pushing the wall towards Naruto to push him even further towards the window, not wanting the boy to escape.
Naruto did just that, backing up, as he decided on a game plan from here. These two men were after him, one of whom was considerably fast and the other considerably versatile and persistent. On what he could only assume to be a satellite of some kind, with little to no escape that he could figure out. And, as it would seem the only route of escape for him would be—
Crack!
Came the sound of Naruto backing into the window, a small crack being formed along its structure.
“Uh… uh-oh!” were Naruto’s words.
“Uh-oh!” indeed, were Flash’s own words. “Hal, are you sure your wall is okay for keeping him in there? It looks like he’s going to break the glass!” said Barry.
“Uh, yeah, it’s good. And I was more focused on him moving above or below to another floor, to pay attention to the window. Isn’t that thing made of like reinforced polymers or something? It shouldn’t break that easily?” Hal explained.
“I think so— I mean, he should be fine, even with the crack that thing shouldn’t break anymore, so he should be good,” Barry told him.
“Yeah, you’re right, unless the kid wants to try to escape through deep space, but how dumb can the alien be to try that?” Hal snarked.
Alien?
Naruto questioned, though he couldn’t exactly understand what the word meant. The two were speaking in another language after all.
But he did accidentally back up even more, causing the reinforced glass to crack even more, something strange, considering he usually has more control of his body. Which was something that he had been feeling ever since he had woken up. His sensory ability was off, too strong, same with his jutsu.
Almost like… he had changed.
Ever since that Martian had done something to him. Though he still felt some nagging within his head.
Because that wasn’t it. He hadn’t been changed because of that Martian, that wasn’t it. He had been changed before it. Before he had lost consciousness, right when he was fighting Kaguya…
That’s when he saw it, slowly turning around, as his heart began to drop…
.
.
.
His appearance was changed, different than when he usually saw it. As usual, he was expecting to see a tall, blonde-haired figure with tanned skin and blue eyes. But he didn’t see that, he didn’t see anything like that.
For starters, his hair was stark white, almost like that of bone, or snow, and so was his skin, which appeared to be alot paler than he was used to, as if he hadn’t spent any time in the sun whatsoever. He was wearing what appeared to be a hospital gown, likely given to him by the people who had found him and brought him here. But he would later come to find out that all of his scars were healed, and blemishes gone, even his whisker marks, which he kept for the entirety of his lifetime, were gone. On his head protruded a pair of small appendages, about the length of half his finger, almost like that of Hagaromo’s horns—not Kaguya’s. However, the most striking detail about him was the change of his eyes, as cerulean blue orbs that he was used to seeing didn’t look anything like that.
For starters, his pupils were gone, and so were his irises for that matter, as it appeared his eyes were entirely sclearea. Or—no, that wasn’t it, he did have irises, they were just different. Almost a milky white, though they did have a small tinge of blue, similar to his old eyes, which set them apart. As his veins around his eyes were enlarged, protruding from his temples. He had seen these eyes before, had known what they looked like.
It began to make sense why he felt as if his sensory abilities were amplified; it was because they were, just not in the ways he had expected. As instead of ‘sensing’ his surroundings, he had been seeing them, seeing them with his eyes. He hadn’t been using a seventh sense, but rather, one of his original six. He had just been too preoccupied to notice such a change. All because his eyes were different.
All because these were the eyes of the Byakugan.
The White eye. The eyes of the Hyuuga Clan, eyes that allowed the user to see in almost a perfect 360-degree radius, seeing through walls with such distinct visibility that they could even count how many feathers a bird had flying above them over 50 meters.
That wasn’t just it. It was the eyes of her as well.
Kaguya.
The Rabbit Goddess, the eyes of his greatest enemy.
Suddenly, the words started to ring through his head.
‘I curse you, Naruto Uzumaki. I curse you for as long as you shall live.’
Had this been what she had been talking about, her curse? This fate she subjected him to?
No, that wasn’t it either.
There was something else that was also on his mind.
Something he was ignoring.
‘You don’t even know what tortures you have subjected yourself to.’
And then it hit him…
Crack!
Feeling lightheaded, leaning on the window for support, unaware of his own strength as he pressed on it. The glass started to crack suddenly, spiderwebs seemingly forming across the window.
And then it shattered.
“Hal!” Barry shouted, but it was already too late. The reinforced glass was starting to break too fast for either of them to react. Naruto pressed on it with all of his strength in his turmoil.
A vacuum formed, leaving a complete and utter hole in space. As Naruto was sucked in.
The Green Lantern was losing focus, and soon, a crack was formed, causing the whole room to start to be sucked in. The Flash and Hal were grabbing for something that could hold them as they could get their bearings.
“Hal! Do something!” Flash shouted, as the Green Lantern did just that, creating a wall to plug the ‘hole’ that Naruto had created, which let the vacuum cease, as the room started to activate its emergency procedures, a metal wall coming down in place of the window and letting Flash stand on his feet again.
Leaving both members to realize that Naruto was gone, and Hal Jordan was sorely wrong.
“So, uhhh… that happened. Should we call someone?” Hal said.
Smack! as Barry smacked the back of his head for his friend’s blunder. As they then went to try to find out what happened to Naruto.
Both were hoping the boy was alright.
XXX
Naruto was falling…
Falling through space, much like before, only this time it was real.
Actually falling. And his mind was far too clouded for him to get his abilities in order, as the gravity of the nearest planet pulled him closer. Though with his now more-than-optimal vision, he was able to stare at the planet he was headed towards. The planet called Earth.
It just wasn’t his earth.
It wasn’t his planet, he realized.
The shape was all wrong, the continents, the oceans, all of which were different than the layout he remembered.
In hindsight, it should have made sense to him, after all, how many different dimensions had Kaguya transported them to? How many different places had he been to? Of course, he was on a different planet now. That part was obvious, no matter how much he wanted to deny it.
It was clear to him that it was the case as he flew—if he could call it that.
The wind hits his skin, falling through the clouds, running through every single part of him, his newfound pale hair, his hospital clothes. The cold rushing of the world falling to him, as the ground grew ever closer. He could see trees, canopies, and overbrush as he neared what looked to be a forest.
That brought a whole new list of problems.
“Ahhhh!!” Naruto screamed out, not just in pain, but also in discomfort, clutching at his temple. A hot, searing pain that he felt through his entire being, he felt as if his mind was going to explode, his brain falling all over, that was how bad it felt.
Naruto tried to fly, tried to right his course and make it so he was no longer descending, but even so, he found he couldn’t. He found he was unable to correct himself.
So it was then that Naruto Uzumaki made his first contact with Earth.
It was in agony.
Why, you might ask, was it something that Naruto was feeling for the first time, ever since his mind had consciously recognized the changes in his vision, and instead of choosing to ignore them, he was forced to focus on them. It was a simple trick of the mind, really; he had been so used to senjutsu, and the Sage’s style of sensing, the ability to feel things, not with sight or touch, but by being one with your surroundings. That was when he unlocked a new form of ‘sense’, so to speak, his mind had conflated it to the limits of what he was used to. His mind was ignoring exactly what he wasn’t imagining, putting it out into the forefront of his mind.
But now things were different; he wasn’t just ignoring the information he was getting, he couldn’t, even if he wanted to.
The influx was just too great; the dam had been opened. Letting him know everything.
It was then that Naruto caught wind of where he was fully, with a full 360-degree vision, with a precise detail that he could see the entire forest, even beyond that.
He could see everything. Naruto could see all the different types of flora, of fauna, the different trees, how many of which were a darker color, how many were spruces, how many were oaks, how many were birches. He could see the leaves, how many were simple, compound, pinnate, palmate. How many ferns and flowers? He could see the limbs of every caterpillar, every cocoon lying on a branch. Every squirrel, every bird’s nest in the trees, the elk, the bees.
But it didn’t just stop there, though, as his eyes could see beyond the forest, towards the fields of corn and soybeans. The blades of grass, the rocks along the ground, the few trails made by modern hands. And beyond that, he saw cities.
Buildings, people, cars, all of them, he could see everything that appeared.
He couldn’t take it, so much information, couldn’t register it all, like water rushing into him he couldn’t contain, and it was starting to overload his mind.
Naruto’s fingers started to clutch at the dirt on his hands, or he thought it was dirt; it was hard to tell. From his perspective, he was just a tiny speck in the forest; he couldn’t even register where he was. The blonde—formerly blonde— male tried to focus himself. He was in a crater, that much was clear, his fingers sinking into the ground.
His memories disjointed, his body moreso. Why was this happening? How had this happened?
‘“I curse you, Naruto Uzumaki. I curse you for as long as you shall live.’
He found himself crawling, trying to move his body, even amongst all the noise, all the headache, it was like his head was about to burst, taking a full Bijuu bomb straight to the face and slamming into the Hokage Monument for good measure.
Moving, he saw a puddle, a small amount of water that had spilled in his descent, but it was enough, as he tried to make his way. He needed to see for himself what he saw before. And slowly, with a struggle, he made his way over, his knees pushing him along, as if he were kneeling, which was all he could do at that moment.
And he saw the reflection… the reflection that stared back at him was not his own.
It was an alien, white hair, white skin, white eyes.
More similar to Kaguya.
Naruto knew this could not be a trick, knew that this would be no life, after all, his eyes were the Byakugan now, he could sense tricks, sense when something was lying, and sense illusions. This was no genjutsu. With all the vast pictures he was seeing, he knew not even the Infinite Tsukiyomi could project such illusions.
That made it seem worse. He knew this to be true because only the transformation could tell it was true.
Naruto was beginning to feel nauseous, his stomach churning at what he saw. “B-Bleeehhh!!”
Was the noise of his entire stomach being emptied onto the ground—what was left of it anyway, after fighting for so long? Mostly military rations and chakra pills, whatever he could get his hands on. The vomit, mixed with saliva, rolled down his throat in waves uncontrollably. His abdomen clenching and convulsing, and in between, he heaved, his lungs yearning for oxygen.
How could this happen? He thought, trying to recall what had put him in this situation, though it was rather difficult due to the fact that he was still feeling everything that happened around him.
He was fighting Kaguya for what felt like forever, but not alone; there had been people…
People he loved.
Sasuke Uchiha, Sakura Haruno, and Kakashi Hatake.
Team 7… what had happened to them?
What happened to them?
They were dead.
Now he remembered, now he remembered what he was missing…
Now he remembered what he couldn’t.
And not just them.
They had been fighting, fighting at one point to take down Kaguya Otsutsuki. He and Sasuke, both of them had tried to take her down, being given the powers of the sage, and a powerful seal capable of sealing her back into a moon that she had come from.
Then they would collect the Ten-Tails. The power of all the Tailed Beasts, which would let them undo it all. Kaguya’s influence, the Infinite Tsukiyomi. With the power of Sasuke’s Rinnegan and the Tailed Beasts, they could undo it.
They could’ve undone it.
No.
No.
No
No. NO NO. NO! NO!
That wasn’t how this was supposed to happen. They were supposed to undo the jutsu. They were supposed to undo it because the Infinite Tsukiyomi’s goal was not to put its target in an eternal dream; it was to give them a false sense of security, a false life, as their chakra was taken from them.
And they were killed.
‘For all that you care about, all that you enjoy, will be stripped away.’
That had been Kaguya’s words; he didn’t know what they meant at the time.
He did now.
He didn’t even think about it.
“This can't… this can’t be!” he murmured, his body becoming tense, as he started to feel a strain in his breathing, like his chest was caving in on itself.
This couldn’t have happened.
It wasn’t supposed to be this way.
He was supposed to return to Konoha, and he was supposed to bring Sasuke back to become Hokage. That was how things were supposed to be.
Yet he couldn’t feel it. His fingers are curling, his elbows clenching.
They weren’t… they weren’t supposed to die.
“No. No. No. NO!”
‘To me, you have become my closest friend.’
Sasuke… he said those words to him at the Valley of the End.
‘We have to be strong. You and me together.’
Sakura’s words to him when they went on their first mission together after he got back from his training trip.
‘Those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandon their friends are worse than scum.’
Kakash had told him that, on the first day, they had become Genin.
‘Because… that’s my Ninja way…’
Hinata…
‘He’s an excellent student, and I acknowledge him… he is Naruto Uzumaki!’
Iruka…
All of these people, they had put their faith in him.
‘Naruto!’ ‘Naruto!’ ‘Naruto!’
All of these people put their trust in him.
Images flashed into his mind. When he saved the leaf village, when he confronted Pein, when he fought in the war, when he tried to retrieve Sasuke.
All the blood, sweat, tears, all of it.
His comrades' faces. His comrades' names.
Sasuke. Sakura. Kakashi.
Naruto found his hands moving to his eyes, clawing at his skin, unable to believe this was real.
Iruka, Teuchi, Ayame.
He felt his chest tighten, his own body yearning for air.
Hinata, Shikamaru, Gaara.
His toes clenched, and so did his hands, not just clawing at his skin, but at the dirt and grass. But he didn’t feel it; it didn’t feel real in his fingers.
Killer Bee, Kiba, Temari.
He wanted to cry… but for some reason, tears couldn’t come out; his eyes were dry. So he sobbed.
All the people he couldn’t name. All the people he couldn’t know.
He sobbed hard.
“No, it wasn’t… it can’t…” he tried to deny it. Tried to speak what he knew not to be true.
They were dead. All of them.
“It wasn’t…”
His whole body trembled, he felt like he was choking, he couldn’t breathe, and he couldn’t think of anything but what he knew.
The world became a blur, but even then, he couldn’t find solace in such a fact.
Because they were dead. Because they were dead. Because they were dead. Because they were dead.
That single notion was carried in his mind.
GONE.
Gone. Gone Gone.
Everyone was…
He felt his heart about to explode and cave in on itself, ruthlessly and ruggedly clutching at his chest, causing his face to hit the dirt. He didn’t feel it.
He didn’t feel anything. He couldn’t breathe.
He could’ve saved them.
If he had just… been a little stronger. Been a little faster. Been a little more persistent.
Isn’t that what he promised? Didn’t he promise he would save everyone?
Didn’t he never go back on his word?
Wasn’t that…
XXX
What Naruto didn’t notice was that his crash landing— and subsequent rampage on the Justice League watch tower—had caused a little uproar. An alert, which one of the world’s most famous heroes came to answer.
What he saw surprised him. Making the dark-haired Kryptonian male’s eyes soften, his red cape blowing in the wind. As he laid a comforting hand on Naruto’s shoulder, a touch he couldn’t feel.
Naruto couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t speak. Couldn’t cry.
So, he did the next best thing.
…He screamed.
End Chapter.
An: There we go, a rather somber end all things considered, though a necessary one. With the final scenes being inspired by the season 2 finale of JJk with Yuji, and also a bit of Kiritsugu’s backstory (if you know, you know. )
And of course, everyone’s favorite Krptonian (male).
To be honest, Superman has probably been one of my favorite superheroes for a long time, and watching the latest James Gunn Superman a few months ago was honestly breathtaking. I really liked it.
And I hope to do the beacon of hope justice, with him being a major character in this fic.
You also saw Naruto’s appearance for a majority of the fic, with his fate being shown. Those who read my Christmas fic may have already been aware.
This chapter was initially a part with the first, though I decided to split this first chapter into two.
That’s really all I have to saw, next chapter I’m working on should be for The Fox and The Hunter. So you all can look forward to that.
Please leave me Lots and Lots of NICE reviews.
