Was this episode received well when it released? It's probably just me but apart from the Sansa and Jon part of it, everything else felt so mediocre, more precisely the Bran storyline and dialogue. It all felt below GOT's standards.

i watched this show for the first time last year and the bran storyline felt so mid to me in that first watch but after locking in with the lore more and on a rewatch you'd appreciate his storyline way more.

It's the contrary for me, i've watched all of GOT atleast once aswell, and i have a decent knowledge of the lore, but revisiting these scenes again showed me how shit this kinda was, both Euron Greyjoy and Bran storylines. Up until now everything was of quality for the most part, that's why i feel like the decline here appeared very visible.

I mean its a 9.7 because people were obsessed with the show and rarely rated anything below a 10. People immediately following the premiere would rate the episodes 10/10 no matter what the episode was actually like. This season averages a higher rating than season 2 and 3 and it is not better than those 2 seasons.

Idk how it took me this long to question it but its really fucking weird that NOBODY in the north questions Jon Snow appearing to break his Nights Watch vows. "He died so technically he didnt break his vows" nobody outside of the NW and Wildlings knows that and they certainly wouldn't believe it if they heard it.

Literally in episode 1 we see Ned execute someone for deserting and thats not really how it works, Jon doesn't just become important to other houses because he's important to the show. In universe hes literally just a bastard thats not only breaking his vows but he sided with the wildlings and recently executed the previous lord commander and a child.
