Sadly Irohs voice actor Mako Iwamatsu passed during the shows production and the Iroh part always gets me. Iroh was genuinely a good person who was unfortunately birthed into a horrible nation.

If you pay attention to Iroh’s episode he’s helping young men at different points in life. A toddler, teens/preteens, and an impressionable young man or grown man. All in someway needed some guidance

That’s the point. At the end of the day he was a good person, he knew his ways were wrong and turned it around after experience great loss. Is he not a good person in the second half of his life? The fire nation wasn’t inherently horrible. Merely the government itself as even the military themselves were all just tryna collect a paycheck and their children led to believe their nation is sharing knowledge and technology to the rest of the world
