Yeah, Don't need to watch Korra. DEFINETLY don't watch the live action. If there's anything "avatar" related I would recommend, it's the Aang movie that came out recently. That's worth the watch just for the Art and animation alone.

I hate that dontai started watching good movies for movie night now I can't shit on him anymore, but I'm like damn yeah can't argue with that choice, but I wish you'd just watch my own personal favorite movies lmao. Huge W btw. for him not planning on watching any of the additional avatar shit, the show is peak and even though it leaves you wanting more, oversaturating urself with all the additional new shit just ends up devalueing the original experience of watching the show, if u don't at least wait a little to have it sink in and maybe rewatch it first. Also karra is good, obv not as good as avatar, the shamalan movie is funny bad and the netflix live action actually permanently degrades ur life quality, it literally has the same effect as repeatedly hitting ur head with a hammer and being forced to watch ai videos of someone pissing on every person you love at the same time.

I do hope he eventually watches the legend of korra if he ever wants to get back into the avatar universe. I watched both these shows as a young teen and loved both of them, if anything I prefer Korra to Aang as a main protagonist and its made for an older audience so darker themes, deeper conversations and some seriously good writing that might be easier to relate to as an adult. I understand Aang's story is such a classic lots of people will just dismiss the sequel show but I don't understand how it can be so over hated. (btw don't listen to whoever wrote that dumbass message lmao Korra aint ever invent no "mind bending" or wtv bro was on about)
