Mirage (Patreon)
Content
Yora wants his life simple—do his job well, keep himself and his magic unnoticed in the desert city that's tolerated him for the past ten years, and pretend that the war he abandoned in another world no longer matters. Even if his job involves assassinating bureaucratic members of one of the empire's most powerful citadels, and hints of that distant world seem to be getting more noticeable, none of it concerns him. Until it does. Now nothing is simple, and to keep himself alive he may need the help of an enemy he fled from a lifetime ago.

Welcome to the first chapter and a second landing page for Mirage; the first book of a trilogy, or maybe part one of a really large 3-part book. Unfortunately I can't pin this one to the top of my page as Incidence is currently taking the one-pin-allowed spot, but since this one will be updated more sporadically that's probably okay. Every chapter will get a separate post, but all centrally linked here. Chapters of this will go up when I fail to finish an Incidence chapter, so there will basically always be something once a month.
As mentioned before, this is a tangentially L&S related story with some overlapping characters (mostly much later) and one specific incident that ties them together - but otherwise this is going to read extremely differently right from the start, and is intended to be understandable without having read L&S (just you might get a little more from it if you have). It's also more mystery/thriller/action/espionage oriented of a story, although there are certainly very important central relationships as well, because that's what I like to write! I will say it does frontload a lot of information, but intentionally.
I'll also have other supplementary fun stuff, like a translations document (because welcome to a brand new place with some additional new fake languages everybody) and maps, things of that sort as they become relevant!
And disclaimer in case you're new here: I do not and will never use generative AI in any format or function to do anything at all, but especially anything with writing. I like an em-dash and I was here first, so I'm gonna keep using them. I find what we colloquially call "AI" abhorrent and almost immoral to use, and simply won't.
