Chapter Two

So I was actually going to have two Incidence chapters this month before moving to locking the story to members only (still free! just you have to be at any member tier), and then I had a whole crisis about myself and the story, and legitimately couldn't finish even one of the chapters. So, second chapter of this story, instead!

I realized I never even put a summary of what Mirage is even about on its landing page, which is added there now, but I'll also put it here:

Yora wants his life simple—do his job well, keep himself and his magic unnoticed in the desert city that's tolerated him for the past ten years, and pretend that the war he abandoned in another world no longer matters. Even if his job involves assassinating bureaucratic members of one of the empire's most powerful citadels, and hints of that distant world seem to be getting more noticeable, none of it concerns him. Until it does. Now nothing is simple, and to keep himself alive he may need the help of an enemy he fled from a lifetime ago.

This story is extremely hard to summarize without spoiling a ton of it right away, which is why I was just previously mentioning the mood and genre more, which is something like political/war/spy thriller(ish), with some action and relationships, and that it's tangentially related to L&S. I do hope people will give it a chance, at some point.
