Just thought I'd emerge from lurker-dom to say I think splitting the chapters into sections is a really good idea, especially if it works better for you. Your chapters are so long anyway, compared to many online (and some published) authors, so we're still getting a substantial chunk of story with each update. :)

They all do need a good shaking hahaha :D

I'm glad! They are pretty big chunks so I definitely don't feel like the updates are too short, it's just...getting them done, as always. This chapter was kind of awkward since it was one big scene, but others it might work more smoothly for

I think posting the chapter in shorter chunks is a great idea! I'm sure in future months I'll read the chapter bit by bit. I just had a lot of stuff going on this past month that took away all my ability to sit down and focus, haha. I love this chapter, though! I have always loved the awfully tragic relationship between Keyd and his dad. I love watching their interactions in this chapter. I feel like I say this all the time, but the dynamics between all your characters are all so genuine and well done that I love them all! I also love all the political stuff happening. I think you said somewhere that this chapter was one long conversation? But I enjoyed it, either way, I think the political drama of it all is really interesting and definitely pulls me in. Two parts I especially enjoyed: calling in the keeper the recite the actual definition of treason, and meeting Keyd's cousin. Both were excellent additions, I think! Thank you for posting!

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I think posting this way will work out pretty well if I keep on track! Of course I'm already behind again...but focusing on smaller chunks maybe will help in the long run. Keyd and his dad really are super tragic. It's fun to be writing Maedajon again too, and with a clearer grasp of the whole story and his character. He'll obviously be in Keyd's story too but with a much less sympathetic vie through Keyd's eyes, ahah. Yeah technically this chapter is one really long scene with no actual breaks in it, but the next chapter has them so it will probably be a little less awkward with less weird separation points!

Finally got around to reading after the craziness of my worklife at my brain. I definitely liked having the chapter broken up into chunks so I didn't lose my place halfway through reading. Reading this part over again with newer understanding of Maedajon's motivations and his total emotional constipation definitely put him in a new light in my eyes.
