Broken Guns part ix

So here's the last chapter of Broken Guns! It's a fairly long chapter and I would have split it, but I have Reasons for not doing that. Either way, people who don't read this story don't have to worry about it showing up anymore :) Eventually in the future a sequel will happen, but it won't be for a while.

I really must go back and reread this story from the beginning to remind myself of a lot of the characters and plot details. I've been telling myself this every time you post a new chapter (which I still read, even though I can never remember what's going on haha), but now that the story's finished I definitely should get around to doing it. Anyway! I still really like the relationship between Emmerich and Ezra and the way they interact with each other, and I'm glad the story ended on a positive, hopeful note for them both. :) It'll be interesting to see what happens in the sequel, whenever you start posting it. Will it still be focused around them, or will there be new main characters?

It was updated super sporadically, about 2-3 chapters a year and then one year had no updates at all, so I'd probably forget what was going on to if it wasn't my own story. I did have to reread a lot when I was writing it, since there'd be such large breaks! It's not that long of a read (compared to my other things at least!), about 100K. The sequel is still about them, and they're the main characters, although it's a tight 3rd POV on Ezra instead of Emmerich. It takes place 6 years later and there will be some of the same secondary characters and some new ones. Their entire story is still a backstory for a main novel that is so unreadable at this stage I have no idea when I'd ever post it, but where Emmerich and Ezra are minor but super influential people to the main characters and the world in general.

Ah cool, I look forward to seeing what they're up to six years later, and what they were doing in the time in between. I imagine it involved lots of sneaky shenanigans. :) I still have no idea how you manage to write everything that you make public tbh, let alone everything else you're working on. It's an achievement for me if I can even put together a coherent plot for a story, never mind writing actual prose. Procrastinating is just so much easier.

They were building an empire, haha. An illegal one but definitely big and influential! They get to pull a lot of strings, although not all that happens in just 6 years, takes more time than that. And I still feel like I'm not writing/putting out enough! Especially since I have so much stuff TO work on. I just write a ton daily and eventually something gets finished :)

The beginning of a new blackmarket empire. Teehee It was fascinsting watching Ezra and Emmerich relying on one another's strengths to broker a deal with the various people who I assume will be involved in their illicit trade in the next story. This chapter felt very rough and at points I had to reread because I was confused as to what had just happened. Despite the minor grammatical issues I really enjoyed the essential marriage of Ezra and Emmerich by creating a new last name for themselves. How crazy is it that they hadn't even known each other a month before deciding they had found 'The One'?

It might have been a little rough and confusing because I was trying to keep it shorter; it got a lot longer than I meant it to. Unless you mean individual lines, which sometimes happens with this more 'archaic' style of writing and is probably something I'd notice/fix in edits later. It's also been a while since I've written anything for this story so... that might be a factor. If you do see any major grammar issues or things that actually make you confused you can point that out; I'd actually appreciate it. :) They at least found 'the one' in terms of who they trust to go into business with! It's not all perfect for them in their relationship, even though they care about each other deeply the sequel does have some rocky bits with them where they don't actually fit together as nicely as they'd like to and have different wants. After all, they essentially didn't 'choose' each other to start with, they got forced together and decided it worked pretty well as both a working relationship and an intimate one, and then later on discover the parts that don't work. :)
