I can't recall much of the original version... but I think Vaun's name is spelt differently now? If I'm not mistaken, it was Van before... I saw that the original spelling snuck its way into the chapter once. Saul doesn't seem as defensive this time around... or I am misremembering his characterization.

Yeah, the spelling of his name changed because I didn't like the original way, which was "Vaan", and looked like it should be read like the word 'van' (rhyming with man) instead of "vaugh" (rhyming with gone). If the old spelling snuck in there once or twice I'm not surprised because I spent 8 years writing it that way. The reason I deleted and am completely rewriting these early chapters is because the characters did not fit what I wanted them to be, so if they seem different then that's purposeful. Both of them were a little too angry and judgmental, so they've been toned down.
