Ghostface

Now you know why everybody hate season 8... It's the worst decision the show ever made, in the comics you see carl grow older and finishing his life with Sofia. Rick did loose everything

ShotaBoyLover

Chandler Riggs just bought a house near the filming area when this happened too and he was turning 18 which means Adult pay so he was killed off with little warning. In the comics Carl is on the last page btw so hes supposed to be much more significant but Greed ruined that arc.

Marcus Walker

I think it’s a little over dramatic of everyone to react that way. While it does suck and is a major departure from the comics it freed the writers in a way to do amazing things with the story and character development

Cole Romero

I willl never forgive Scott Gimple and AMC for killing Carl off cause they didn’t wanna pay Chandler Riggs for being an adult. That is literally why he is killed off. He turned 18 around that time and the show runners were too cheap to let him survive. This is like if they killed off Sansa or Arya in GOT cause HBO didn’t want to pay an adult’s wages so they ignored George R. R. Martin’s books and did what they wanted

Auntie M

Omg! I never knew this. I always thought he just left to go to college or something. I wish we had been able to see what adult Carl turned out like

MSephiroth

But the season itself isn't bad, to judge a whole season, a whole show, for one decision, over one character, who I never really thought was that great to begin with personally, that's just not fair. You can judge the decision, but this whole thing of 'it's the worst season' is just such a childish tempter tantrum response from people.

MSephiroth

Partially true, but also partially false, and yet, people keep continuing this narrative. I personally never really liked Carl, and respectfully to Chandler, I don't think he's really good at acting, I think he has plenty of talents in other areas.

Ghostface

to do amazing things with the story ? have you read the comics or even seen season 10 and 11 ? It's pure garbage and i'm a massive fan since day 1, i read the comics only 1 or 2 years ago. After season 9 the rest is pure garbage. There is a reason why it has been hated so much

Ghostface

True season 8 is pretty cool, but sorry killing carl was the worst decision the show ever made and y'all know it. It ruined everything for the rest. But yeah season 8 really ain't that bad. No carl's character was just awesome and perfect, they should have give him more scene from season 7 and not killed him, specially when he plays a big part in the season 9 version of the comics and for the rest of the comics, so worst decision ever. Yeah no worst season defenitly 11, i think people who says that season 8 was the worst is people that didn't even finished the show for real

Zach Zbinden

top 3 worst decision in the show. truly awful what they did to the actor Chandler Riggs.

Zach Zbinden

wouldn't be as bad if they didn't mislead the actor

MSephiroth

Seasons 10 and 11 really aren't that bad at all, still don't get why people hate so much on those either, and honestly it just feels like yet another situation of bias over actually judging the season for the season itself. And seriously, every time people bring up the comics, it just makes me laugh, because are we really going to pretend liek there's not some of the most brain-dead dumbass decisions ever made in the comics? Convoluted wishy washy out-of-character moments out the wazoo. Weird ass love triangles for just pure shits and giggles. So this glazing of the comics compared to the show is just hilariously hypocritical.

Thomas Lee

Alex and this damn sorghum cracks me the hell up😭

Ghostface

Sorry but if you like season 10 and 11 I think you are one of thoses people who loved the end of The Boys, Stranger Things, and all these shows. Of course there is dumb décisions in the comics, but at the end it’s dumb small decisions. Tell me why in the comics it’s always more badass and it feels always more real. Because once they got the tv show, they want to do everything the way they want, make it soft, make it bad. Doesn’t mean that the comics are perfect, but certenely better than the season 10 and 11. Again, i don’t usually even read, i read the comics 1 or 2 years ago. I’m not a comics nerd AT ALL. But I know when I have to admit that one décision is way better than another

Aaron Holappa

I agree with the fact that killing Carl off was an absolutely terrible move but I do personally still really enjoy the rest of the show

Colin S Pagano

Told you this season would upset you. We never said it was bad. Not once. 😂 you just assumed it haha

Jerry

I think it's a good season it's a bummer but yh

Bracken Crisman

The decision to kill Carl makes zero sense from a writing perspective. Such a dumb thing to write. Makes Rick’s arc so much worse.

Bracken Crisman

I totally agree with you. If you compare the writing, acting, direction to seasons 1,2 and 5, it’s a completely different feeling show. By the time of season 8 this show lost its captivating feeling to me.

Cole Romero

So a bit of spoilers for the comics since it went in an entirely different direction: in the comics, Carl survived until the very end. He married Sophia and led his community into the future. In the comics, Rick actually dies just after he brings most of the fighting to an end and the world is semi back to the way it was. His killer actually serves time in jail to symbolize that Rick’s sacrifices weren’t in vein as his killer was the first person to receive old justice from the fallen world.

Rachel Trainor

Didn’t Chandler want to go to college after high school and do something other than act? Since acting was chosen for him by his parents when he was like 7. I thought that was a big part of it too.

Caverty

Well man the actor quit/got let go, so tough titties

Caverty

That’s more correct than the raise argument. Yes both are true but Chandler either wanted a pretty substantial raise to stay or he was leaving to go to college.

tyronne jones

I get why this is the moment everyone truly left twd and hated this season but honestly it’s a good reminder that this is TWD, they’re more prone to killing characters than GOT 🤣, and it’s RICKS show.

Ae Jae

One death doesn't make an entire season bad. Yall just cry too much h

Ae Jae

What a contradiction. So you told him but nobody said it?

Dr Puma

I honestly didn't mind them killing off Carl. It was a massive shock factor for me and kept me doubling down on the show.

Case14

And that is why most people say this is the worst season. Such a dumb decision to kill off Carl. Still a good season in my opinion but this was the worst decision of the entire series.

TeenTyrant

And yet, they did nothing with that. They had a distilled version of the ending arcs of the comics, and killed off the one character whose survival was the entire point of the show just for shock value, and so they wouldn’t have to pay Chandler Riggs like an adult.

Reaction Jackson

'Is Carl gonna die? " and I nodded at the screen with

Swish

For the Indian guy in the forest? 🤣 exactly my thoughts

Jacob Melrose

When you only look at it in the context of the show they actually did Carl pretty well. I know people were, and still are mad at the decision, but at the end of the day it isn't bad writing.

Luke Fitton

That’s exactly the problem though, Carl was a very underdeveloped character hence why he should’ve lived to improve in the final three seasons. Killing him off here makes him such a damn waste. I think Season 4 is the only one that handled Carl well.

ShotaBoyLover

And yet 9-5 happens... if this was the biggest "death" until the final season Id be much more ok with it but rumors of 9-5 and 10-13 started around the same time this aired. GoT has a much richer overarching plot and world so killing so many main characters is less damaging. TWD is much more character driven, you cant remove so many anchors that quickly in succession imo

Dejv27

This is the episode where I originally stopped watching. It's just too much bullshit for me. Carl is the main character. He was supposed to live all the way to the end. That's how it went in the comics, and that's how it should've went here. It's like if they killed off Mark in the next season of Invincible. This is probably the greatest sin and the lowest point in the whole show and it'll never be forgiven.

Dejv27

Please read up on the reason he was fired. Maybe then you'll understand why everybody's so mad.

DropBear

Not sure if I’d call him an “actor” per se, I think his calling lies elsewhere and his thespian run was a very lucky childhood stint, and (unless he somehow does a 180) it should stay that way. Obviously no one can predict how good a child actor will be when they’re older but I don’t think greed was the only reason let’s be honest

Abuzz Klanica

bro you are blind and dont pay attentation at all lol

Charlie Fontana

“Theres Rick. Theres Carol!! Theres…. Sebastian”😂😂💀

tyronne jones

Spoilers bro 😭 but I get what your saying to be fair that’s not TWDs fault it’s was more off screen decisions

⃠-

I remember watching this episode when it came out. i didnt watch another episode until over 6 years later when i went back to just finish the show

Ae Jae

Fkn spoilers dude.

Haw Haw

i ain't gonna hate the whole season just cause one of the characters died

Haw Haw

lets see you do better then drop bear lol. hes a good actor.

tyronne jones

No the dude who replied had spoilers I said something basic and obvious

TundraCH

Worst part of season 8... Horrible decision. Can't defend that, haha...

Jerry

Chandler Riggs stole the show in this episode

Staineless

And now you know why people hate this season. In a way I understand, it's hard when a character you love is removed especially for a reason that doesn't make sense. Carl lives through the entirety of the comics. Some people think they killed him off because they didn't want to pay him adult wages, some think they just wanted more tension in the season. Nobody really knows the truth so take either with a grain of salt. I still enjoy the season, even if I disagree with losing a character.

Staineless

A lot of people told him it was bad, lol. Maybe not you, specifically, but I don't recall your exact opinion being that relevant, about as much as mine really :P

Pieck

Carl sucks, not really cool at all. Just cry’s constantly. Shows better without him

Pieck

Everyone saying killing Carl was stupid cause he made it to the end in the comics…. But so did Sophia and I didn’t hear JACK when she was killed off

bella

All I gotta say is please stick this show out until the end🙏 There’s only a few more seasons and honestly in my opinion the show doesn’t fall off as hard as everyone is saying. Don’t get me wrong, there are boring moments but overall I think the show was great.

Brandon

I hated Carls death so much more than Glenn’s. I admittedly took a break from the show after season 8. A couple years later I re-watched it all the way through and enjoyed it.

Giselle

& this is the episode they lost me 😂idc idc 16 year old me was mad asf!!! So now i’m nervous but excited to watch the rest bc i’ve never seen what happened after this

Gabi

Chandler expected a normal salary as an adult. He even bought a house nearby so he could continue working for TWD. So he clearly did not plan to leave. His father confirmed this too.
