This was so much darker than the first. Like filled with murder plots, manipulation, drugging daughters, and a shit ton of amazing references!

Literally one of the best sequels ever made! I remember going to see this in theaters when it first came out, and of course as a kid a lot of everything in this movie went over my head, but to this day I love doing re watches! For the Puss in Boots movies, the first one is actually pretty generic for an animated kids movie I feel like. Like yeah sure it's Puss in Boots and stuff but like the reason you are seeing everyone go crazy over Puss in Boots is actually the second movie Puss in Boots Last Wish. It truly is incredible imo and worth a watch but just wanted to let you know about the first one and stuff.

Love shrek 2 but the first shrek is the top dog for me. It felt more centered because you’re following around, for most part, 3 characters and felt more personal. The 2nd felt like bigger, expand the Shrek world. Plus the first Shrek is what start it all, the franchise and modern DreamWorks Animations as a whole.
