Progress Report #06 – Prologue Act 3 (Patreon)

Another two weeks deep into Act 3, and this one was a real grind. A good one, but a grind.

I finished visualizing every single line I had written so far. That's over 8,000 lines of Ren'Py brought to life, with 464 images done at this point, and I'm still not through the whole act yet.

Here's what doesn't really show in the final count though. For every image that makes it into the game, there are usually 4 or 5 tries that got scrapped before I landed on the right one. And a lot of scenes use more than one image, so the actual number I generated to get here is way higher than 464. That final number is just what survived. On top of that, working with AI is its own thing. Some characters come out great with just a few tries, while others fight me every step of the way and take two or three times longer to get right. That's a big part of where these two weeks went.

Right now I'm deep into the main NSFW moment of one of the two big segments that close out the night. I'm also just starting to get into animations, which is a whole new frontier for me. It's slower and trickier than static images, but it's going to push these scenes to another level.

And that brings me to something I wanted to ask you all. Would you like the animations to have sound? It's something I can work on, but I'd rather hear from you first if it's worth the extra time. Let me know in the comments 👇

I'll be dropping an animation test with sound over on the Discord so you can see (and hear) what it could look like. Quick heads up: it's just a technical test, not a canon scene from the game, so don't read too much into it. It's an NSFW test and honestly it came out pretty damn good 🔥 If you're not in the Discord yet, now's a good time to jump in.

Honestly though, after so much trial and error on images, going back to writing feels fresh. It's exactly what I needed to switch gears for a bit.

It's a heavy workload, but I'm really happy with how it's coming together. Little by little it's turning into the finale I had in mind for the Prologue.
