Road to the Finale (Patreon)

Hello everyone.

While I'm hard at work, developing this Monday's early update and beginning the final stage of the game's main story, I thought it'd be nice to talk you through the upcoming content.

As I've talked about before, with the 0.6.0 release the game will be entering its final arc, focused entirely on Kendo. Every lingering plot point will be closed, and will serve as build up to the game's ultimate conclusion.

But how will we get there? Well, folks, that's what this post is all about.

'Qualities of a King' Scenes

As you may recall, before focusing on finishing Arato's Route, Kendo had been issued a challenge by Arato's sister, Naomi, in order to prove that his way of life is right and that he's indeed worthy of calling himself a 'King' (and perhaps also stop Erina from getting fired).

Each of the qualities listed during this story sequence will be the focus of a scene. These scenes will unlock as you complete Natsuki's, Hanako's, Rin's and Kaoru's stories... plus Mary's 3 dates in Kendo's main story.

Of course, this means that these scenes will feature a combination of Kendo's ladies, getting up to a wide arrange of 'activities'.

The combinations and their release order will be as follows:

"A King inspires Joy" - Natsuki & Hanako (& Yoshi) (ALREADY RELEASED)

"A King stands above Family" - Hanako, Kaoru & Mary (& Satoshi)

"A King stands above Love"- Natsuki, Rin & Mary (& Satoshi)

"A King inspires Jealousy" - ?????????

"A King is Undefeated" - ?????????

The first one of these has already been released. The next one, "A King Stands Above Family", shall have its first part released in the upcoming 0.6.0-full update, two weeks from now. As described above, it'll feature Hanako, Kaoru & Mary, with Satoshi tagging along for the ride. Since this all happens before he finds out the truth, I thought it'd be fun to play up the "oblivious Satoshi" angle once more, as everyone has 'intense fun' juuuuuust out of sight for him to figure it out~

The final two are secret, as I need to keep some surprises to myself, right?

Naomi's Arc

In the midst of this challenge stands a sole woman: Naomi Someya, Arato's older sister, phantom of Kendo's past, and proud wife and mother. Quite a lot of qualities, this woman has, one of them being that she's completely impervious to Kendo's advances...

...For now. But no one is unbeatable. Scenes related to Naomi will unlock as you players progress through the 'Qualities of a King' scenes, one or two at a time. Her arc won't be as long as that of other ladies, as Naomi instead serves as a challenge, a 'final boss'-ish kind of character, so to speak.

The final 'quality of a King' scene will also serve to cap-off her plotline and lead into the game's finale.

A King's Rewards

...And while this is all going on, I'll also be releasing some fun, short scenes between Kendo and each one of the ladies. They'll serve no purpose but to add some extra spice, meaning they'll be optional, no manly points.

But you do want to see the game's main ladies wearing some new swimsuits, right? Of course you do!

The first scenes of this batch will be all about Natsuki. So Natsuki fans, please stop threatening me! Please!

I don't necessarily have to do this, meaning I'll tackle them whenever I feel like it. But they'll be a nice change of pace from the rest of the main story scenes, and sometimes such change of pace is needed.

FINALE

If you've been keeping up with updates so far, you'll know that there's a certain scene during the Kendo Ending sequence that has a choice... A particular choice that requires a manly level of 80 to access.

This number is currently unattainable, and even with cheats this option will lead nowhere.

But once all of the above has been completed, then the path to the True Ending of 'The King of Summer' will be revealed.

Because nothing can stop a true man, specially when there's something very important that he needs to accomplish. Nothing, not Shizuka, not Arato, not his own nephew will stand in his way.

I decided against adding renders to this post this time because Patreon sometimes gets weird about it, and I wanted as many people to read this as possible.

There's still a few months of content left for KoS, but I intend to see this all through before the current year comes to an end.
