The fog looks like it is making the scene a lot more noisy, maybe just tone it down a bit and see it works better like that?

I think a mix. The fog adds some feel of distance, but without it the scene looks real good and more colorful. So perhaps a bit less opacity of the fog and keep the spotlights.

If you make it an animation add the fog to begin with to hide the model and as soon as the model's face is seen make the fog go away because of the model's movement to give a better feeling of size.
