New Archetypes

Daayan (Rajah Archetype)

Veilweaving: A daayan’s study of the dark arts stored within the akashic record have granted them the ability  to shape the magical power known as akasha into powerful veils, which they draw from the volur veil list. They know and can shape any veil from this list. The daayan uses their Charisma as their veilweaving modifier, and has a veilweaving level equal to their class level. The saving throw DCs of the daayan’s veils are equal to 10 + the essence invested in the veil + the daayan’s veilweaving modifier.

The daayan can only shape a limited number of veils per day. They can shape 2 veils at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape 1 additional veil each day at 2nd, 6th, 10th, 14th and 19th level.

Whenever the daayan shapes a veil with the [brand] descriptor using shaped veils granted by this archetype, they do not take up one of the daayan’s chakra slots, and cannot be bound using their chakras. This ability does not allow the daayan to shape the same brand multiple times, but does allow them to shape multiple brands that would normally be shaped in the same slot, along with any other veils they would normally shape in those slots.

At 1st level, the daayan gains access to a pool of essence which can be invested into their veils and other essence receptacles to increase their power. The daayan gains 1 point of essence at each class level.

Branded Vassal: For the purpose of their rajah class features, the daayan treats creatures branded by their veils with the [brand] descriptor within Close range (25 feet + 5 feet per 2 rajah levels) of them as their entitled allies. If they have the ability to attack creatures through an entitled ally, they can also attack the creature branded by the [brand] veil itself. The daayan gains no additional benefits or penalties when doing so. If the daayan gains the ability to increase the range of the brands, it does not increase the range at which they can treat them as their entitled allies.

Empowered Brands: At 4th level, the daayan‘s mastery over their brands allows them to bind their brands for greater effects. When the daayan shapes their veils for the day, they can bind one of their [brand] veils shaped using their daayan veil slots. If a brand has multiple chakras it can be shaped to, the daayan chooses which chakra slot they treat it as bound to when they shape the brand. At 8th, 12th, 16th, and 20th level the daayan can bind an additional one of their [brand] veils shaped using their daayan veil slots.

Improved Essence Capacity: The daayan’s mastery over the dark arts of akasha has improved their ability to invest their essence. At 4th, 16th level the maximum essence capacity of all of the daayan’s essence receptacles increases by 1.

Sphere Volur (Volur Archetype)

Casting: The sphere volur may combine spheres and talents to create magical effects. The sphere volur is considered a Mid-Caster. (Note: All casters gain 2 bonus talents and may select a casting tradition the first time they gain the casting class feature.)

This replaces the volur’s veilweaving, essence pool and improved essence capacity class features.

Magic Talents: A sphere volur gains 1 magic talent every time they gain a caster level. This does not stack with caster levels gained from other sources.

Spell Pool: The sphere volur gains a small reservoir of energy they can call on to create truly wondrous effects, called a spell pool. This pool contains a number of spell points equal to their level + their casting ability modifier (minimum: 1). This pool replenishes once per day after roughly 8 hours of rest.

Veilweaver: At 1st level, the sphere volur gains the Veilweaving sphere and the Volur’s Tradition advanced talent as bonus talents. If they already have either of these talents, they may select a Veilweaving talent of their choice to replace either duplicate. The sphere volur does not learn a veil of their choice when gaining the Veilweaving sphere in this way. If they had already learned a veil from taking the Veilweaving sphere before taking this class, they lose knowledge of that veil if that veil is not part of their Tradition.

Brand Capacity: At 3rd, 9th, and 15th level the sphere volur treats the maximum essence capacity of their brands as 1 higher. This does not stack with the Capacity Increase talent.

Stormbrand

Cursed by the Storms: The stormbrand uses their Charisma as their veilweaving modifier for their veils shaped using the stormweaving class feature, and in place of their Wisdom modifier for all other stormbound class features.

Brandweaving: The stormbrand’s connection to the curse that inflicts them  has granted them the ability to shape akasha into potent curses and blights to place upon their foes known as brands. Brands are veils with the [brand] descriptor, and the stormbrand gains the ability to shape 1 of these veils each day at 1st level, and gains the ability to shape an additional 1 of these veils at 4th, 10th, 14th, and 18th level.

When shaping brands using the brandweaving ability, a stormbrand does not use the standard rules for veils with the [brand] descriptor. When a stormbrand shapes these brands they do not take up one of the stormbrand’s chakra slots, and cannot be bound using their chakras. This ability does not allow the stormbrand to shape the same brand multiple times, but does allow them to shape multiple brands that would normally be shaped in the same slot, along with any other veils they would normally shape in those slots.

Rather than being invested with essence, these brands are always treated as being invested with their maximum capacity of essence. In addition, the stormbrand uses their Charisma as their veilweaving modifier for brands shaped using this ability, their class level as their veilweaving level, and the following to determine their saving throw DCs of their brands shaped using this ability rather than the normal saving throw DC for one of their veils: 10 + 1/2  their stormbound level (rounded up) + their Charisma modifier.

This replaces the stormbound’s veilweaving, essence pool, and improved essence capacity class feature.

Stormbrands: At 1st level, the stormbrand can apply their brands to and maintain their brands on any creature in the area of one of the Storm veils, even if their brands would normally have a shorter range.

At 4th level, the first time a creature fails a saving throw or is hit by an attack or combat maneuver originating from one of the stormbrand’s Storm veils each round, the stormbrand can attempt to inflict one of their brands on that creature as a free action even if it isn’t their turn. This otherwise functions as if the stormbrand had attempted to apply that brand to the creature normally, and follows the normal rules for [brand] veils. The stormbrand can use this ability once per round at 4th level, gaining an additional use each round at 8th level and every 4 levels thereafter.

Accursed Storm: At 2nd level, the stormbrand has learned to tap into the cursed storm growing within them, allowing them to channel it to utilize hexes much like a witch. At 2nd level, and every 2 levels thereafter, the stormbrand gains a hex of their choice. They use their stormbrand level in place of their witch level and their Charisma in place of their Intelligence with these hexes.

Starting at 10th level, the stormbrand can select major hexes using this ability. At 18th level, they can select grand hexes.

This replaces the stormbound’s chakra binds gained at 2nd, 4th, 6th, 8th, 10th, 12th, 14th, 16th, 18th, and 20th level.

Brandbinding: At 3rd level, the stormbrand‘s mastery over their brands allows them to bind their brands for greater effects. When the stormbrand shapes their veils for the day, they can bind one of their [brand] veils shaped using their brandweaving ability. If a brand has multiple chakras it can be shaped to, the stormbrand chooses which chakra slot they treat it as bound to when they shape the brand. At 6th, 12th, 16th, and 20th level the stormbrand can bind an additional one of their [brand] veils shaped using their brandweaving ability.

Twinveil Storm: At 11th level, the stormbrand gains the ability to shape a second Storm veil each day, and can shape and bind up to two veils which occupy the Storm slot. This ability otherwise functions as the Twin Veil feat.

This modifies the stormbound’s twinveil storm class feature.

New Daevic Passion: Hatred

Daevas if Hatred seek out servants who are driven by their hate and are willing to use it as fuel towards accomplishing their goals, no matter their intentions. Daevics of Hate can range from many backgrounds, but as a whole are incredibly driven to righting whatever wrongs they believe has been inflicted on them by the source of their ire. A daevic who selects this passion is usually Chaotic or Lawful Neutral or of any Evil alignment, thought Good-aligned daevics who select this passion are not unheard of.

Veil List: Bloodvine Embrace, Chronomancer’s Jinx, Cloak of the Leper, Dancer’s Curse, Grasping Chains, Line in the Sand, Mageblight, Sword of Damocles, Traitor’s Mark, Veilhex

Skills: Knowledge (arcana), Sleight of Hand, Stealth

At 3rd level, the daevic gains Painful Severance as a bonus feat. They do not need to meet the prerequisites for this feat. At 3rd level, and again at 9th and 15th level, the saving throw DCs of their veils with the [brand] descriptor are increased by +1.

At 6th level, the possessing daeva begins to transform and adopt an affinity for a particular aspect of hatred. Choose one of the following aspects: Animus or Odium.

Animus

Daevics who follow the path of animus utilize their hatred to better themselves and the world by vowing to work against the aspects of it they so despise. Starting at 6th level, they gain Mass Branding and Reaching Brands as bonus feats. They gain Mass Branding as a bonus feat an additional time at 12th and 18th levels. They do not need to meet the prerequisites for these feats.

Additionally, at 12th level their Reaching Brands feat improves, allowing them to apply brands to creatures within Medium range and maintain brands on creatures out to Long range (400 feet + 40 feet per veilweaver level). At 18th level this further improves, allowing them to apply brands out to Long range, and their brands can be maintained on creatures no matter their distance from the daevic, including if those creatures travel to a different plane.

Odium

Daevics who follow the path of odium channel their hatred into a destructive force which they use to blight and torment their foes. At 6th level, once per round when the daevic hits a creature with a weapon attack, they can apply one of their brands to that creature as a free action. This otherwise functions as if the daevic had attempted to apply that brand to the creature normally, and follows the normal rules for [brand] veils. If the daevic used a ranged weapon to apply the brand, the creature must be within the range that the daevic could apply their brands (normally close range). When applying a brand in this way the daevic may use the higher of their veilweaving ability score or the ability score they used to make the attack when determining the brand’s saving throws and effects.

The daevic may use this ability an additional time each round at 12th and 18th level.

New Veil Set: The Witch’s Ensemble

The following veils printed in other books also belong to this veil set: Bangles of the Jealous SeductessAM, Courtesan’s CloakAM, DreamcatcherAM, Priestess’ Clasp of RebirthAT, Witch’s BoomTF, Witch’s Broom [Enhanced].

The following new veils are also part of this set:

Black Hat of the Witch

Descriptors: Divination, Summoning

Class: Eclipse, Nexus, Radiant, Stormbound, Vizier, Volur

Slot: Head, Headband

Save: None

Shaping this veil grants you an oversized black conical hat with a wide brim that can be inverted to produce a black cat under your control. This functions as a cat familiar, using your veilweaving level as your wizard level when determining its abilities. Unlike a normal cat familiar, this black cat gains Darkvision 60 feet and it grants you a +2 insight bonus to Stealth instead of its normal granted bonus. You cannot give the familiar created by this veil a familiar archetype. Conjuring the black cat takes a standard action, and dismissing it requires a standard action and for the cat to be within your reach.

While the black cat is dismissed it regains hit points at a rate of 1 per 10 minutes. You only gain the benefits of the familiar while it is conjured. If the black cat familiar is slain, it disappears into the veil. After 1 hour it is restored to life at 1 hit point and can be conjured again.

The black cat can be dispelled as if it were this veil, suppressing or unshaping the veil if the one who attempted to dispel it is successful (as per the normal rules for dispelling a veil). If the black cat enters an antimagic field or similar effect, it is immediately dismissed and cannot be resummoned for 1d4 rounds. If this veil is suppressed or unshaped, the black cat is also dismissed.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the bonus to Stealth checks granted by the black cat increases by 1, and the black cat gains a +2 insight bonus to its own Stealth checks.

Chakra Bind (Head): Binding this veil to your Head chakra heightens your bond with the black cat produced by the veil, allowing it to deliver the effects of your veils. The black cat conjured by this veil gains a +1 insight bonus to its attack rolls for each point of essence invested in this veil.

Additionally, whenever you use the ability of a veil that can be delivered with a melee or ranged touch attack you can store its effects within the black cat until the end of its next turn. During the black cat’s next turn, it can make a melee touch attack to deliver the effects of the veil as a standard action. Your black cat must be within Long (400 feet + 40 feet) per veilweaver level of you to use this ability, but you do not need line of sight or effect to it. If you use the effects of a veil that allows you to make multiple touch attacks as part of a single action you may store any number of those touch attacks within the black cat. In such a case, delivering more than one touch attack requires the black cat to spend a full-round action. You cannot store the effects of multiple veils using this ability at once, attempting to store the effects of a second veil within the black cat removes the effects of the first stored veil.

Chakra Bind (Headband): Binding this veil to your Headband chakra grants you all of the benefits of the Head bind and enhances your connection with the black cat conjured by the veil, allowing you to share its senses. You and the black cat gain the benefits of the share senses spell as a constant effect using your veilweaving level as your caster level, allowing you to share a single one of the black cat’s senses (as per the spell) as long as it remains within Long range of you. You can change the sense you are sharing by spending one full round in meditation. Creatures immune to divination effects are not detected by this shared sense, though may be able to be detected normally by the black cat.

Disquieting Gaze

Descriptors: Curse, Mind-affecting

Class: Stormbound, Volur, Vizier

Slot: Head, Headband

Save: See text

Your eyes begin to glow with a baleful light, unnerving any who meet your gaze.

Shaping this veil causes your eyes to glow with a foul light that you can direct at a creature to curse them. As a standard action, you can curse a creature you can see, causing the target to take a -1 penalty on one of the following attributes of your choice for 1 round: AC and CMD, ability checks, attack rolls and CMB, saving throws, or skill checks. You can use this ability multiple times on the same creature, but each use must target a different attribute. Creatures immune to mind-affecting effects or curses are immune to this ability.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil the duration of the curse it applies increases by 1 round. For every odd point of essence invested, the penalties it inflicts worsen by -1.

Chakra Bind (Head): Binding this veil to your Head chakra empowers your gaze, making it impossible for a creature to look directly at you. Creatures you can see cannot look directly at you, as if they were averting their eyes. They only have a 50% chance of having to make a saving throw against any of your gaze effects, and you have concealment against that opponent, causing them to have a miss chance equal to 20% + 5% per two points of essence invested in the veil (to a maximum of 50%). This is a mind-affecting effect. At any time on your turn, you can choose to end or resume this effect on a creature you can see as a free action. You can only end or resume the effect on any given creature once per turn.

In addition, when using the abilities of this veil to curse a creature you can choose to force that creature to make a Will saving throw or suffer a penalty to two attributes instead of one. If they succeed at this save, they only suffer from one of the penalties of your choice. This is a gaze effect, creatures averting their gaze from you have a 50% chance to ignore the saving throw and only suffer one penalty of your choice.

Chakra Bind (Headband): Binding this veil to your Headband chakra grants you all of the benefits of the Head bind and dramatically improves the intensity and unnerving effects of your gaze. Creatures who can see you are forced to avert their gaze from you, even if you can’t see them. You can choose to remove this effect from creatures you can see as normal.

In addition, when using the abilities of this veil to curse a creature they suffer from three penalties on a failed saving throw.

Hag’s Shawl

Descriptors: none

Class: Stormbound, Volur, Vizier

Slot: Shoulders, Body

Save: See text

This tattered shawl radiates a shadowed and menacing energy that once draped across your shoulders grants you a portion of the dark arts of an ancient and powerful hag.

Shaping this veil grants you the ability to use a single witch hex, chosen at the time you shape this veil. You treat your veilweaver level as your witch level with this hex, use your veilweaving modifier in place of your Intelligence, and the saving throw DC of this veil in place of the hex’s saving throw DC. This counts as having the hex class feature for the purposes of feat prerequisites.

Essence: Investing essence into this veil provides no additional benefits beyond increasing the DC of any hexes granted by the veil. When you shape this veil, you can choose to bind 2 points of essence to it (up to the veils maximum essence capacity) to gain the benefits of an additional hex. For every 2 additional points of essence you choose to bind, you gain an additional hex. Unlike normal bound essence, if this veil is suppressed these points of bound essence are automatically reinvested and rebound into the veil after the suppression ends. If these points of bound essence are burned, you temporarily lose access to the hexes granted by that bound essence, chosen when the essence is burned. You regain the use of the hex when the essence burn is recovered.

Chakra Bind (Shoulders): Binding this veil to your Shoulders chakra grants you a single major hex of your choice, using the rules for hexes presented in this veil.

In addition you gain the coven hex. When using spell-like abilities of a coven you may use your veilweaving level in place of your caster level and your veilweaving modifier in place of your Charisma when determining their effects.

When using aid another on another witch with this hex, you can choose to increase the other witch’s veilweaving level by +1 in addition to increasing their caster level, and they can do the same for you. This bonus also applies to their hexes, as normal. For every 3 points of essence invested in this veil, the bonus to caster level and veilweaver level provided by this special aid another is increased by 1.

Chakra Bind (Body): Binding this veil to your Body chakra grants you all of the benefits of the Shoulders chakra, and also grants you a single grand hex of your choice, using the rules for hexes presented in this veil.

In addition, when using the coven hex you are treated as a hag, allowing you to create a coven with two other witches with the coven hex without the need of a hag. Additionally, you can use the abilities of a hag’s coven without having a full coven, but using the spell-like abilities granted by the coven takes you 10 minutes if you are performing them with less than three members.
