New Veil Set: Dragon's Raiments

The following veils printed in Akashic Mysteries also belong to this veil set: Cincture of the Dragon and Gorget of the Wyrm.

Alluring Voice

Descriptors: Compulsion, Mind-affecting, Language-dependant

Class: Huay, Nexus, Radiant, Stormbound, Vizier, Volur

Slot: Headband, Neck

Saving Throw: Will negates

Your voice is augmented by magics that allow your words to be viewed more favourably by those that hear them, bending the minds of mortals to your will.

Shaping this veil causes your voice to reverberate within the minds of mortals, granting you a +2 insight bonus to Bluff and Diplomacy checks. You do not gain this bonus against creatures immune to compulsions or mind-affecting effects.

As a standard action, you can attempt to enforce your will on a creature within 30 feet with a magic-laced command. This functions as the suggestion spell, save that its duration is only 1 round and uses the DC of this veil in place of its normal saving throw.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil the insight bonus to Bluff and Diplomacy granted by the veil increases by 1, and the range at which you can command a creature increases by 10 feet.

Chakra Bind (Headband): Binding this veil to your Headband chakra allows you to deliver an even more powerful command against a single creature. This more powerful command has a duration of 1 hour per veilweaver level, or until the command is completed. If a creature succeeds on its saving throw against this ability, it is immune to your more powerful command for 24 hours. You can still affect it with commands that only last 1 round, as normal.

Chakra Bind (Neck): Binding this veil to your Neck chakra allows you to throw your voice to command multiple creatures. When you use the ability of this veil, you may choose to target a number of creatures up to 1 + your veilweaving modifier (minimum 2). Each creature must be given the same command, and must all share a language, or be able to understand the command in the language you choose.

Draconic Ferocity

Descriptors: Acid, Cold, Electricity, or Fire, Polymorph

Class: Daevic, Nexus, Stormbound

Slot: Shoulders, Belt, Body

Saving Throw: None

The ferocity of an untold number of dragons whose memories have been stored within the akashic record pulse throughout your body, rippling through your flesh and leaving its touch upon your form.

Your body is warped by ancient draconic energies, altering it into a more ferocious form. When you shape this veil, choose one of the following metallic or chromatic dragons. This choice influences the form you take using this veil, and the veil’s descriptor:

Black, Green, or Copper: Acid descriptor.

Blue, or Bronze: Electricity descriptor.

Brass, Gold, or Red: Fire descriptor.

Silver or White: Cold descriptor.

You can use alter self as an at-will spell-like ability with a caster level equal to your veilweaver level, save that you can only take a form resembling a hybrid of yourself and your chosen dragon. This spell lasts until you choose to end the effects as a standard action. The cosmetic appearance of this change is up to you, and can be changed each time you use this ability, but you can still be clearly identified as yourself unless you use the Disguise skill to further hide your appearance (you do not gain a bonus to your Disguise check from this spell). When you use this ability, you gain darkvision 60 feet and low-light vision, as well as your choice of two primary claw natural attacks (1d4 damage if you are Small, 1d6 if you are Medium) or a primary bite natural attack (1d6 Small, 1d8 Medium).

If this veil is sundered or suppressed, the effects of all of its spell-like abilities immediately end.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, your natural attacks gained via the spell-like abilities of this veil deal an additional 1 point of damage of the veil’s elemental descriptor (Acid, Cold, Electricity, or Fire). This damage is multiplied on a critical hit. For each even point of essence invested, you gain a +1 insight bonus to attack rolls made with the natural attacks gained via the spell-like abilities of this veil.

Chakra Bind (Shoulders): Binding this veil to your Shoulders chakra further empowers your transformative abilities. This veil now changes your shape as monstrous physique I, with the same restrictions as the base effect of this veil. You gain both the claws and bite natural attacks. When determining the abilities granted by this spell, you treat the creature you are taking the form of as a wyrmling of your chosen dragon type. You do not gain any additional natural attacks, even if the dragon would normally have them. You can choose to take the size of a creature of any size available to the spell.

Chakra Bind (Belt): Binding this veil to your Belt chakra grants you all the benefits of Shoulders chakra, save that it now functions as monstrous physique III. Additionally, you can use form of the dragon I as an at-will spell-like ability with a caster level equal to your veilweaver level. This spell lasts until you choose to end the effect as a standard dragon. When using this ability, you can only take the form of your dragon chosen with this veil.

Chakra Bind (Body): Binding this veil to your Body chakra grants you all the benefits of the Belt chakra, save that your ability to take the shape of a dragon now functions as form of the dragon II and your ability to take on a hybrid form now functions as monstrous physique IV.

Eyes of Terror

Descriptors: Fear, Mind-affecting

Class: Eclipse, Guru, Helmsman, Huay, Kheshig, Stormbound, Vizier, Volur

Slot: Headband

Saving Throw: Will (see text)

Your eyes shift and warp into those of a reptile’s with vertical slit pupils and faintly glowing sclera, inspiring unease in all who meet your gaze.

Shaping this veil dramatically improves your vision, granting you the perceptive abilities of a dragon. You gain darkvision 60 feet and low-light vision. If you already have darkvision, you gain a 30 foot increase to your existing darkvision instead. Using this low-light vision you can see four times as far as humans in conditions of dim light, rather than only twice as far. Additionally, your draconic gaze unnerves creatures, granting you a +1 insight bonus to Intimidate checks against them. You do not gain this bonus against creatures immune to fear or mind-affecting effects.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil the bonus to Intimidate increases by +1, and the range of darkvision granted by this veil increases by 10 feet.

Chakra Bind (Headband): Binding this veil to your Headband slot dramatically improves your perceptive abilities and infuses your gaze with a frightening intensity. You gain blindsense out to a range equal to half the range of the darkvision granted by this veil, or an increase to the range of your existing blindsense equal to that same amount.

You can tap into the powers of this veil as a free action when you make an attack roll or as part of a charge, causing your eyes to flare with a baleful radiance that strikes fear into the hearts of your foes. Enemies within 60 feet of you must make a Will saving throw or suffer the effects of this veil. An opponent that succeeds on this saving throw is immune to this effect for 24 hours.

Creatures with 4 Hit Dice or fewer are panicked for 5d6 rounds on a failed saving throw.

Creatures with a number of Hit Dice greater than 4 but equal to or less than your veilweaving level + your veilweaving modifier are instead frightened for 1d6 rounds, and then shaken for 4d6 rounds on a failed saving throw. At the end of each turn the creature spent frightened, they may make another saving throw against this effect, ending the frightened condition on a successful save (they then become shakened for its rolle duration).

Creatures with a number of Hit Dice greater than your veilweaving level + your veilweaving modifier are instead shaken for 2d6 rounds.

Goldhoard Vestments

Descriptors: Curse

Class: Daevic, Guru, Huay, Nexus, Radiant, Stormbound, Vizier, Volur

Slot: Head, Wrists, Shoulders, Body

Saving Throw: ???

Your wealth blooms around you, billowing from your person to form gleaming vestments that shimmer with otherworldly beauty and opulence.

Shaping this veil grants you vestments of gleaming opulence that radiate power that increases alongside the wealth hoarded within them. When shaped upon your Head, they take the form of a crown, earrings, necklace, eyeglasses, piercing, or other jewelry worn on the head, neck, or face. When shaped upon your Wrists, they take the form of bangles, armlets, rings, vambraces, and other jewelry worn on the hands and wrists. When shaped upon your Shoulders, it forms a cloak of flowing wealth that pours down from the shoulders to shroud you in glimmering wealth. When shaped upon your Body, it manifests as all of the above at once.

The Goldhoard imbues you with the power to convert items you can hold directly into wealth. By spending one minute, you can convert an object you are holding directly into an amount of gold worth half of the item’s base price. This gold manifests in the form of gold coins of a variety of sizes and weights minted in an ancient style. Items worth less than one gold piece cannot be converted, and the item you wish to convert must weigh less than 100 pounds. An item must be completely supported by you to be converted, it cannot be attached to another object, or supported by another object (such as a door, a window, a lock, etc).

When you shape this veil, you may invest a number of gold pieces worth of valuable materials (such as gold, gems, art, rare metals, etc) to imbue this veil with greater powers. When you convert an item into gold, you can automatically invest it into the veil as part of converting it. You can retrieve your valuables from the veil or add more valuables to the Goldhoard as a full-round action. When the veil is unshaped you automatically retrieve your wealth from the veil, the valuables appearing on your person in locations of your choosing.

When at least 10 gold is invested in the veil, you radiate bright light out to a radius of 30 feet, and then dim light out to a further 30 feet. You can activate or deactivate this light as a free action on your turn.

When at least 500 gp is invested in this veil, the radiant opulence of the veil begins to protect you from harmful effects, granting you a +1 resistance bonus on all saving throws. This bonus increases by an additional +1 when the following gold totals are invested: 2,000 gp, 4,500 gp, 8,000 gp, 12,500 gp.

When at least 1000 gp is invested in this veil, you can instead choose to gain a +1 enhancement bonus to your natural armor, or a +1 deflection bonus to your armor class. These bonuses increase by an additional +1 when the following gold totals are invested: 4,000 gp, 9,00 gp, 16,000 gp, 25,00 gp.

You can change the selected bonus any time you spend an action to reallocate your essence.

Alternatively, you can choose to have the Goldhoard grant you multiple bonuses, but the total invested gold is also divided between those bonuses. This division does not need to be equal, but you must invest a minimum of 500 gp to gain a resistance bonus to saving throws, or 1,000 gp to gain a bonus to natural armor or deflection armor class. For example: If you invest 4,000 gp into the Goldhoard, you could grant yourself +1 enhancement bonus to natural armor, +1 deflection bonus to AC, and +2 resistance bonus to all saving throws.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the radius of bright and dim light radiated by the veil increases by 10 feet.

Chakra Bind (Head): Binding this veil to your Head chakra expands your senses, allowing you to detect valuable objects within the aura of radiance produced by the veil and quickly determine their value. You can sense the location and approximate value of all objects worth more than 1gp within the area of bright light produced by this veil, as the blindsense ability. The light produced by the veil must be able to shine upon an object for you to sense it and determine its value. Invisible items in the area, or those concealed by illusion, are still considered to have the light shining on them if they are not otherwise obscured by a physical obstacle.

When at least 2,000 gp is invested in this veil, you can choose to grant yourself a +2 enhancement bonus to a single ability score in place of the normal bonuses granted for investing essence in the veil. This bonus increases by an additional +2 when the following gold totals are invested: 8,000 gp, 18,000 gp.

You can choose to divide your total invested gold between multiple bonuses, as normal. You could choose to enhance multiple mental ability scores as well as granting yourself a bonus to your natural armor, for example, but your total gold invested is divided as you choose between all the selected bonuses.

Chakra Bind (Wrists): Binding this veil to your Wrists chakra allows you to expel a burst of burning golden radiance from your hands to strike your foes. This burst of radiance is delivered as a touch attack and deals 1d3 + your veilweaving modifier points of damage. This damage results from a pulse of akashic power and bypasses damage reduction and resistances.

This touch attack can be used in place of any weapon attack you could make. When replacing a melee weapon attack, it is delivered as a melee touch attack. When replacing a ranged weapon attack, it is delivered as a ranged touch attack with maximum range equal to the radius of bright light produced by the veil. You do not need to be wielding a weapon to utilize these attacks. For example: if you had the Rapid Shot feat, you could make a number of ranged attacks using this veil equal to the number you could make using that feat during a full attack, taking the normal penalties for the feat and for iterative attacks, even if you aren’t wielding a ranged weapon. The same applies to the Two-Weapon Fighting feat.

For each point of essence invested in this veil, the base damage of this ability increases along the following track: 1d3 -> 1d4 -> 1d6 -> 1d8 -> 1d10 -> 1d12 -> 2d8 -> 2d10 -> 3d8 -> 3d10 -> 4d8 -> 4d10 -> 5d8 -> 5d10

When at least 1,000 gp is invested in this veil, you can choose to grant yourself a +1 enhancement bonus to attack and damage rolls made using this ability in place of the normal bonuses granted for investing essence in the veil. This bonus increases by an additional +1 when the following gold totals are invested: 4,000 gp, 9,000 gp, 16,000 gp, 25,000 gp. You can choose to divide your total invested gold between multiple bonuses, as normal.

Chakra Bind (Shoulders): Binding this veil to your Chest chakra dramatically enhances the intensity of the golden radiance emitted by the veil, dazzling foes in your presence. Enemies within the area of bright light radiated by this veil gain the dazzled condition. Creatures dazzled by this veil cannot flank you. Additionally, when a creature dazzled by this veil makes an attack roll against you or makes a Perception or Sense Motive check against you, they suffer an additional -1 penalty to that check for every odd point of essence invested in this veil.

When at least 2,000 gp is invested in the Goldhoard, you can choose to grant yourself a +2 enhancement bonus to a single ability score in place of the normal bonuses granted for investing essence in the veil. This bonus increases by an additional +2 when the following gold totals are invested: 8,000 gp, 18,000 gp. You can choose to divide your total invested gold between multiple bonuses, as normal.

Chakra Bind (Body): Binding this veil to your Chest chakra fully infuses you with the powers of the Goldhoard, granting you all of the benefits of the veil’s Head, Wrists, and Shoulders binds. In addition, when determining your total value of gp invested in this veil, you multiply the total by 1.25x, rounded down to the nearest gp. This does not affect the actual wealth invested in the veil, only the effective total when determining the abilities granted by the invested gold.

Scales of the Drake

Descriptors: Acid, Cold, Electricity, or Fire, Enhanced (chain shirt)

Class: Daevic, Eclipse, Huay, Kheshig, Nexus, Stormbound, Vizier

Slot: Chest

Saving Throw: None

Your flesh is coated in a layer of shimmering scales that ward you from harm and protect you from an element.

Shaping this veil coats your skin in a glimmering mesh of translucent dragon scales. When you shape this veil, choose one of the following elements: Acid, cold, electricity, or fire. The veil gains the chosen descriptor, and the scales provided by the veil match those of a dragon that could breathe that type of element (gold or red for fire, as an example). These scales function similarly to a chain shirt, save that they cannot be removed, have an Arcane Spell Failure chance of 0%, and are not considered to be made of metal unless they are enhanced with a metal material.

In addition to functioning as armor, the scales also grant you resistance 3 to the veil’s chosen element, or an increase to your existing resistance to that element by the same amount.

If you become affected by a polymorph effect that would merge your armor with your body, the scales instead change their shape to affect your new shape.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the energy resistance granted by the scales increases by 3. For every two points invested, its Maximum Dexterity Bonus increases by +1, and the Armor Check Penalty reduces by -1 (to a minimum of 0).

Chakra Bind (Chest): Binding this veil to your Chest chakra further empowers your scales, imbuing them with elemental energies that radiate outwards in a destructive penumbra. You gain a 5-foot radius of elemental energy matching the elemental type chosen for this veil. At the beginning of each of your turns, all enemies within this area take 1d6 points of damage of the chosen elemental type. For each point of essence invested in this veil, this damage increases by 1d6. For two points invested, the range of this aura increases by 5 feet.

New Archetypes

Dragonshifter (Huay Archetype)

Draconic Veilweaving: The dragonshifter uses their Charisma as their veilweaving modifier and uses their Charisma in place of their Wisdom for their huay class features.

This modifies the huay’s veilweaving class feature.

Bonus Languages: The dragonshifter’s bonus language options include Draconic, the language of the dragons. This choice is in addition to the bonus languages available to the dragonshifter because of their race.

In addition, the huay speaks Druidic, a secret language known only to druids, shifters, and other protectors of nature, which they learn upon becoming a 1st-level huay. Druidic is a free language for a huay; that is, they know it in addition to their regular allotment of languages, and it doesn’t take up a language slot. Huayob are forbidden to teach this language to characters who are not druids, huayob, or shifters.

This modifies the huay’s bonus languages class feature.

Veil of the Dragon: At 1st level, each day when they shape their veils they select one veil from the following list: Alluring Voice, Cincture of the Dragon, Goldhoard Vestments, Gorget of the Wyrm, or Scales of the Drake. The huay shapes this veil, and it does not count against their total veils shaped or veil slots.

This replaces the huay’s veil of nature class feature.

Draconic Shift (Su): The dragonshifter may only select monstrous physique or form of the dragon (including its variants) with their skin form slots.

Whenever the dragonshifter uses monstrous physique, they take a hybrid form of their base form and that of a dragon instead of selecting a monstrous humanoid to take the form of. The transformation still counts as a monstrous humanoid and has the same number of arms and legs as the dragonshifter’s true form. When the dragonshifter takes that form, they select a single true dragon and use it to determine the abilities granted by their monstrous physique (see below). When using monstrous physique in this way they can choose for this form to be any size available to the transformation they use, rather than needing to use the size of their selected dragon. Any natural attacks granted by the base dragon are modified to their chosen size. For example, if the dragonshifter gains the natural attacks of a wyrmling red dragon, but chooses to take a Medium-sized form, the damage of those natural attacks would increase from Small size (1d4 for their claws) to Medium size (1d6 for their claws).

For monstrous physique I, they select a wyrmling true dragon (such as a wyrmling red dragon, or a wyrmling sky dragon) and use it to determine the abilities granted by the monstrous physique form.

For monstrous physique II, they select a very young true dragon and use it to determine the abilities granted by the monstrous physique form.

For monstrous physique III, they select a young true dragon and use it to determine the abilities granted by the monstrous physique form.

For monstrous physique IV, they select a juvenile true dragon and use it to determine the abilities granted by the monstrous physique form.

This modifies the huay’s skin shift class feature.

Draconic Presence (Su): At 12th level, the draconic energies of the dragonshifter’s form changing has affected their mind and soul, giving them the fearsome presence of a dragon. They gain the frightful presence universal monster ability, using their huay level in place of their Hit Dice and their veilweaving modifier in place of their Charisma modifier when determining its DC and the Hit Dice of creatures they can affect. While in either a monstrous physique or form of the dragon skin shift, they treat their huay level as 4 higher when determining the Hit Dice of creatures they can affect with this ability.

At 14th level, the dragonshifter can impose their presence on a single creature. The dragonshifter may take 3 points of essence burn to cast charm person as a spell-like ability, using their huay level as their caster level. This spell-like ability has a DC of 10 + 1/2 the dragonshifter’s class level + their Charisma modifier instead of its normal saving throw DC. The dragonshifter cannot recover the essence burn spent on this ability while a creature is affected by it. The dragonshifter can choose to end this effect early as a standard action. If a creature passes their saving throw against this ability they are immune to further attempts for 24 hours.

At 16th level, they can affect any creature type with this ability, not just humanoids.

At 18th level, they may choose to use dominate person as a spell-like ability instead. This ability only affects humanoids and its duration is only 1 hour per level, but otherwise follows the normal rules for this ability.

Draconic Apotheosis (Ex): At 20th level, the dragonshifter’s constant transformations have fully infused their body. They gain the half-dragon template. Their new form is inherently mutable, allowing them to change the dragon type their template is associated with as a standard action by taking one point of essence burn. When using their alter self skin shift, they can take their original form and never need to make a Disguise check to disguise themselves as their original form when doing so.

Dragon Weaver (Druid Archetype)

Draconic Veilweaver: The dragon weaver learns to tap into the ancient draconic power that lingers throughout the wilds and shape it into powerful veils. The dragon weaver treats the following veils as their veil list: Alluring Voice, Cincture of the Dragon, Eyes of Terror, Gorget of the Wyrm, Goldhoard Vestments, and Scales of the Drake. The dragon weaver uses their druid level as their veilweaver level for these veils, and uses their Wisdom as their veilweaving modifier. The DC for the saving throws of the dragon weaver’s veils is 10 + the number of points of essence invested in the veil + the dragon weaver’s Wisdom modifier.

At 1st level, the dragon weaver can only shape a limited number of veils. They can shape 1 veil each day at 1st level, and gain the ability to shape an additional veil each day at 10th, and 16th level.

This replaces the druid’s nature bond class feature.

Essence Pool: At 1st level, the dragon weaver’s ability to tap into draconic energies grants them their own pool of personal essence, which can be invested into veils and other essence receptacles. They gain 1 point of essence at 1st level, and an additional 1 point every 2 levels thereafter.

Improved Essence Capacity: At 3rd level, and again at 9th and 15th level, the essence capacity of the dragon shaper’s essence receptacles increases by 1.

Ferocity of the Dragon:  At 4th level, the dragon weaver gains the ability to shape the Draconic Ferocity veil each day. This veil does not count against their normal limits on veils shaped, or their veil slots, and they use their class level as their veilweaving level and their Wisdom as their veilweaving modifier for this veil.

This replaces the druid’s wild shape class feature.

Chakra Binds: At 6th level, and every two levels thereafter, the dragon weaver gains the ability to bind veils directly to their chakra, unlocking new and potent abilities. The dragon weaver gains the ability to bind chakra slots in the following order: Head, Wrists, Shoulders, Headband, Neck, Belt, Chest, and Body.
