New Veil Set: Mycomancer’s Cluster

In addition to the veils presented below, the following veil is also part of this veil set: Spore WingsAT

Cordyceps Sporecloud

Descriptors: Disease, Evil

Class: Huay, Nexus, Promethean, Radiant, Stormbound, Vizier

Slot: Hands, Wrists

Saving Throw: Fortitude (see text)

Fruiting fungal bodies begin to sprout from the flesh of your hands and wrists, able to erupt into clouds of spores to infect and control the bodies of other beings.

Shaping this veil grants you the ability to infect willing creatures with a special type of parasitic fungus known as cordyceps which are magically linked to this veil. You can infect a single willing living creature within Close (25 feet + 5 feet per two veilweaving levels) range as a standard action, and you may only have a maximum number of willing creatures infected equal to your veilweaving modifier. This is a disease effect. You can also infect willing corporeal undead with this ability, and it ignores their immunity to diseases granted by their undead traits.

While an infected creature is within Close range of you, you can spend your standard and move actions to puppet it, allowing you to spend your own actions to cause the creature to take actions. You can use your standard action to cause the creature to make an attack against a target of your choice at its full base attack bonus, and you can use your move action to cause the creature to move up to its speed to a point of your choosing, to stand up from prone, or to fall prone. Any actions taken by the creature provoke attacks of opportunity as normal for the action.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the infected creature gains a +1 insight bonus to attack rolls and a +2 insight bonus to damage rolls with attacks you force it to make, and gains  a+5 bonus to its movement speed when you force it to move.

Chakra Bind (Hands): Binding this veil to your Hands chakra allows you to infect unwilling creatures and puppet them as well. An unwilling creature receives a Fortitude saving throw to negate the effects, the effects only last for 1 round + 1 round per point of essence invested in the veil, and the creature is staggered until the end of its next turn on a failed Fortitude save. Unwilling creatures are not counted against the maximum number of creatures you may infect. A creature already suffering from the infection who fails a saving throw against this ability again does not become staggered and the ability's duration is reset to the new application’s duration.

Chakra Bind (Wrists): Binding this veil to your Wrists chakra grants you all the benefits of the Hands bind, and you may infect creatures in an area, rather than only a single creature.

As a full-round action, you can attempt to infect every creature within Close range of you. You still have the normal limitations for the number of willing creatures you may control.

Additionally, you become better at manipulating the bodies of creatures you have infected.

As a standard action you can cause an infected creature within Close range to become staggered until the beginning of your next turn.

As an immediate action you can force a creature to dodge an attack, granting it +1 dodge bonus to AC against the attack that triggered this ability. This bonus increases by an additional +1 per two points of essence invested in this veil. This ability can be used after the results of an attack have been revealed.

Cloak of Spores [Variant]

Descriptors: Poison, Variant

Class: Daevic, Nexus, Promethean, Radiant, Stormbound, Vizier

Slot: Shoulders, Neck

Saving Throw: Fortitude (see text)

Moss and fungus cascades down your back, constantly emitting a cloud of dense spores that trails you as you move.

This veil functions as the Cloak of Thorns veil, with the following changes:

The veil fires a cone of spores instead of a cone of thorns. Creatures in the area of this cone must make a Fortitude saving throw or take 1d6 points of damage and gain the sickened condition for 1 round. A successful save halves the damage dealt, and negates the sickened condition. This damage is from a poison effect; it bypasses damage reduction and resistances, but an immunity to poison effects negates the damage.

Essence: Each point of essence invested increases the damage of the cone of spores by 1d6 and the duration of the sickened condition it applies by 1 round in addition to increasing the range of the cone.

Chakra Bind (Shoulders): The veil produces wings of fungus and spores, rather than thorns, and removes the recharge period of your cone of spores.

Chakra Bind (Neck): Instead of thorny vines, the spores and fungus of the veil form two massive appendages which you can use to bludgeon your foes. You gain two primary slam attacks that deal 1d6 bludgeoning damage and 1d6 poison damage on a successful hit (1d4 bludgeoning damage for Small creatures, 1d8 for Large) and have a critical threat range of 18-20/x2. Poison damage is not multiplied on a critical hit and ignores damage reduction and resistances, but an immunity to poison negates the damage. You may use your veilweaver level in place of your base attack bonus when using these slam attacks.

While using the climb speed granted by this bind, you can not attack using these slam attacks.

Veil Descriptor: Variant

Veils with the variant descriptor have similar effects to an existing veil, as noted in their description. These veils cannot be shaped at the same time as the veil they are a variant of.

Entwining Mycelium

Descriptors: None

Class: Huay, Nexus, Promethean, Radiant, Stormbound, Vizier, Volur

Slot: Head

Saving Throw: None

Psionic mycelium enhances the mind of you and your allies, allowing you to share your talents and skill between your group.

Shaping this veil allows you to form a network of psionic mycelium that links your mind with the mind of your allies. When you shape this veil, you may touch a number of willing creatures equal to your veilweaving modifier (minimum 2). You and each of the touched creatures choose one of their skills in which they have 1 or more skill ranks.

While a creature affected by this veil is within 20 feet of you, you and all other affected creatures within that range may use the ranks of that creature’s chosen skills in place of their own ranks in that skill. You may only use the ranks of a creature’s chosen skill while they are within range.

Effects that block telepathy also block the effects of this veil. The effects of this veil do not require line of sight or effect and can penetrate barriers, but 1 foot of stone, 1 inch of common metal, a thin sheet of lead, or 3 feet of wood or dirt blocks it.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the range of the veil’s effects increases by 20 feet.

Chakra Bind (Head): Binding this veil to your Head chakra further improves the veil’s ability to share skills between the affected creatures. When using another creature’s skill ranks using this veil, you may use that creature’s bonuses to the skill from their ability score, feats, class features, traits, and racial traits instead of your own. You still suffer from any situational penalties to the skill (such as from your Armor Check Penalty), you gain any circumstance bonuses to the skill based on your own situation, and you gain bonuses to the skill from your own veils or magic items rather than the creature whose bonuses you are using.

Fungal Panacea

Descriptors: None

Class: Huay, Nexus, Promethean, Radiant, Stormbound, Vizier, Volur

Slot: Shoulders

Saving Throw: None

A cloak of moss and fungus plunges from your shoulders which sprouts numerous mushrooms that provide a variety of beneficial and enjoyable effects.

Shaping this veil grants you a cloak of moss and fungus that sprouts a number of essence-infused mushrooms equal to your veilweaving modifier (minimum 2). Each mushroom produces an effect available to the polypurpose panacea spell, with the effects for each mushroom chosen when they are grown.

You can pick and eat a mushroom as a standard action, or pick a mushroom from the cloak as a move or swift action, which can later be consumed by you or another creature as a standard action.

Picked mushrooms stay potent for one hour, after which they lose their magical potency and shrivel away into nothingness. An hour after a mushroom is picked, a new one grows in its place. This newly grown mushroom can be of any effect available to the polypurpose panacea spell, it does not need to be the same choice as the mushroom it replaced.

A creature can only benefit from a single effect provided by this veil at a time, if they consume another mushroom while already under the veil’s effects, the first effect is replaced by the newly consumed mushroom’s.

Essence: Each point of essence invested in this veil extends the duration of the mushroom’s effects by one increment of time, based on their initial duration. Effects with a duration of 1 hour are extended by 1 hour per essence, durations of 1 minute are extended by 1 minute per essence, and so on. Creatures benefitting from the tenacity effect also gain an additional 2 temporary hit points per point of essence invested. For every 2 points of essence invested, the numerical bonuses of any effect produced by this veil are increased by +1.

Chakra Bind Shoulders): Binding this veil to your Shoulders slot improves the effects of this veil in the following ways:

Firstly, the veil now produces a number of mushrooms equal to twice your veilweaving modifier (minimum 4).

Secondly, creatures gain the ability to benefit from two effects produced by this veil, rather than only one. They cannot benefit from the same effect more than once.

Thirdly, if one of your mushrooms grants the clarity or tenacity effects of the polypurpose panacea spell, they are improved as presented below:

  • Improved Clarity: A creature benefitting from the clarity effect can use its effects once each minute of duration, rather than only once. Once the creature has used the effect a number of times equal to its maximum duration in minutes, the effect expires. If this veil was invested with 3 essence when the creature gained the effects, they could use the effect 4 times within 4 minutes.
  • Improved Tenacity: Lost temporary hit points granted by this ability recover at a rate of 1 point per round.

Neurospore Mycorrhiza

Descriptors: None

Class: Huay, Nexus, Promethean, Radiant, Stormbound, Vizier, Volur

Slot: Head, Headband

Saving Throw: See text

A network of nearly-invisible fungal roots grows from the veil and spreads outwards around you, broadening your senses and allowing you to communicate with those who normally could not.

Shaping this veil grants you a 15-foot aura of lightweight and nearly-invisible incorporeal fungal roots called mycorrhiza. You gain tremorsense within this range, and may communicate telepathically with plant creatures inside this aura. This telepathy does not require you to share a language with the creature.

Essence: For each point of essence invested in this veil, the radius of the aura produced by the veil increases by 5 feet.

Chakra Bind (Head): Binding this veil to your Head chakra furthers your communicative abilities, allowing you to communicate with any living, intelligent being rather than only plants, and heightens your special perceptive abilities.

You can telepathically communicate with any living creature with an Intelligence score of 3 or greater within the area of your aura.

In addition to tremorsense within the aura, you also gain the ability to sense the presence of sentient thought within your aura. This acts as the blindsense ability, but you only sense living creatures with an Intelligence score of 3 or greater within the area of your aura. Nondetection, mind blank, and similar effects block your ability to sense a creature’s presence through their thoughts.

Chakra Bind (Headband): Binding this veil to your Headband chakra grants you the benefits of the veil’s Head bind, dramatically improves your ability to communicate with plants, and further heightens your ability to sense thoughts.

You gain the ability to communicate telepathically with normal plants within the range of the veil’s aura, as the speak with plants spell.

Additionally, your ability to sense thoughts now functions as blindsight (with the normal restrictions for your thought detection) and allows you to detect the presence of non-sentient plants in the aura.

New Feat

Set Knowledge

You have focused your study on a subset of veils known as a set, granting you a limited knowledge of a few veils.

Prerequisites: Ability to shape at least 1 veil belonging to a veil set.

Benefit: Select a single veil you know how to shape that belongs to a veil set, such as Angelic Armaments or Mycomancer’s Cluster. You add all the veils belonging to that set to your veil list, allowing you to shape them using the normal rules in which you shape your veils. If a veil from a set is shaped to an esoteric chakra (such as the Blood or Ring slot), this feat alone does not grant you the ability to shape that veil.

“Mycorrhizal” is an adjective. The title should be “Neurospore Mycorrhiza” or “Mycorrhizal Neurospores” or something along those lines.
