Yes I think it is the same you are right, like they don't want to come on too strong even if the younger ones do because they want some time for them to grow up a bit.

Timeline wise Jayna was 18 when she auditioned (she didn’t actually get the part but the original Pat was replaced by Jayna just before they started filming). It’s still not 100% clear why the original person dropped out, or was replaced (if it was lack of chemistry or something else, but Ginny and Jayna definitely left an impression on each other and tried to look each other up, after the audition, on social media but didn’t know how to spell each other’s first name and couldn’t find each other). In the end Jayna was given almost no prep time when she was offered the job. I think there was something like 6 months between the auditions and when Jayna was offered the job, but only a day between the job offer and starting the workshop and I think they only had 2 days of workshop so focused mostly on breaking the ice, and then they started filming the pilot, as it was so rushed for Jayna to join the rest of the cast. Jayna was still 18 when they filmed or started filming the pilot, and then turned 19 during the pilot or in the first part of filming the actual series. Jayna is now 20 (her birthday was in Feb 2026). Ginny is now 25 (her birthday was in Dec 2025), so there is a 5 yr difference (so she was 23 when Jayna was 18). Jayna was also briefly a Thai Pop trainee under Bec Music before she dropped out to pursue acting instead. I would normally agree with you re co-stars that have a large-ish age difference and one is still under 20 where the older one waits for the younger one to gain age and experience and I’ve seen that with some other GL couples but I don’t think that is the case here. They weren’t close when they first started filming as they had insane hours on set filming (and Jayna was taking private acting tutoring as well) and they had only just met, but they had to learn to get closer quickly during filming and started to open up to each other and then became much closer in real life after filming. Jayna and Ginny find any excuse for Ginny to stay the night at Jayna’s place (usually it’s because there is some work event they have to go to and get up early for and Jayna says it’s closer to her place), and Live a lot together from Jayna’s bedroom. Jayna lives essentially alone (with a flat-mate friend) or has mentioned staying in the same building as her manager (which she moved to as she is at University in Bankok and her parents lived in another part of Thailand), whilst Ginny lives at home with her parents. Jayna doesn’t stay round Ginny’s place because Ginny only has a single bed and thinks it’s too small (Jayna disagrees but Ginny refuses to let her stay over until she has finished remodelling her bedroom including buying a large bed - she keeps promising to Jayna that she can stay over once it’s done, and I believe this is now the case, as of the last month or so). They are very open about sleeping together, Jayna is very forward as you can see and Ginny is so smitten that she basically folds instantly for almost any demand Jayna makes, so that’s why I don’t think they are waiting. They’re both too far gone for each other to wait and it doesn’t feel like Ginny sees Jayna as having less experience than herself. Ginny borrows Jayna’s jewellery, and outfits for events, and the two of them feel quite co-dependent. Jayna and Ginny are both focused on saving and are trying to save up for a place of their own (as well as fund Jayna’s shopping sprees that Ginny sometimes grumbles about). All of the above is what they themselves have explained in their own Lives with the odd thing also mentioned in public events or after events. I think the reason so often the younger one is the aggressor / gives Top energy in the GL couples that have a significant age difference is that they are pairing a younger Extrovert with an older Introvert, and that is certainly the case with GinJay. Ginny has said that she has really come out of her shell because of Jayna and you can see it in how much more willing she is to be bold and flirt back with Jayna and even in their concert where Ginny got to dance in front of such a large audience.
