So this started as me showing my straight best friend some GL TikTok couples


and then SHE decided to turn it into a full ranking system with scores like we’re judging the Olympics 😭

Important disclaimer before anyone comes for us:This is all fun and games 💖She has only seen small clips of each coupleAnd yes
 she ranked some of MY favorites low and I had to sit there and take it like a victim.

The reactions, the opinions, the chaos — this was way more unhinged than I expected and honestly so much fun.

Also watching her slowly process the GL energy in real time?? Incredible.

I feel like they’re one of the most underrated couples and they’re so adorable 😆 Also, I think your friend’s ranking/assumptions based on the clips were so accurate 😂 (esp. w/KaoJane & LingOrm) Orm definitely had a crush on Ling first (I think since she was like 17 and they joined the company at the same time) then got the chance to meet/work with her years later đŸ˜©

I absolutely agree they are not my number 1s or even my personal top 5 but I do think they are so so underrated and have so much chemistry. I totally agree from the clips she was actually hella accurate, especially with LingOrm because when I first saw them I had those vibes too, obviously they have evolved but again she was sort of spot on.

I would say it’s very difficult to assess how real some of the ships are likely to be from just a handful of clips unless you also know the context and see and hear from them in more contexts. It feels like a bit of a toss up in the air with a coin as to which clips were seen and the interpretation as to how the vote was calculated. Having said that I would agree with some (like MewJune and ViewMim) but at the same time would disagree with others, like GinJay who I would put much higher likelihood as they act much more like they are already girlfriends and have repeatedly said they are sleeping together. They don’t have the same shyness that many other ships still have that it feels like would disappear if they were actually intimate in real life. I would also put FreenBecky, LingOrm, NamtamFilm and MilkLove much lower on the list, leaving FayMay, GinJay, LMSY, TKNur, in that order, at the top of this compilation list that are likely already together in real life, followed by the LenaMiu and EmiBonnie couples if not together yet, at least in the early stages of trying. I would then put the OG’s (as much as I love them) of FreenBecky and EngLot as probably going to stay working ships for now. I only see NamtamFilm as fanservice and feel like MilkLove are just good friends who’ve played a couple in many series. LingOrm I did feel was just fan service but I agree has likely changed - how much - I’m not sure. Ciize and Kapook it feels are too early to tell if they are more than fan service, even if I like their chemistry and they are both gorgeous, I feel like they want to be a couple on screen (as a main couple and are working towards that goal) but are flexible to switch partners if needed as seems to happen a lot at GMMTV. All just my speculation of the ships based on the clips, interviews and BTS and shows which I’ve watched of them, and everyone is likely to have their own interpretation of their favourites to watch. As you also noted I try to take my anti-delulu pills and all of their interactions and words with a pinch of salt, unless they repeatedly and categorically confirm that they are romantically in a relationship together, even if I have more confidence that some are more likely than others to be together in real life, based on what they have said / written, and what we have seen publicly from them of their interactions together.

I actually think you have some good points as for GinJay omg they have explicitly said they are sleeping together or that they like sleep together because the context of that would definitely change a lot for me too lol! I also agree these were just small clips so she can't really get an overall idea. I think in regards to Englot they are just a work-ship for now but because they both had genuine feelings for each other at one time and were very transparent about it they would rank high for me. Even with like Freenbecky I think it may have always been one sided but feelings still mean a lot in the game like she pinned that immediately with LingOrm which has is how I had always felt about them, I do think things have changed but by how much I am not sure. I do agree with a lot of your assessments though.

I totally agree with you re EngLot having had something genuine in the past and don’t doubt that it’s possible they could rekindle that if they both wanted to do so and their work circumstances permitted it. I’m also not denying that many of the ship partners don’t have genuine feelings for each other and don’t want to be in a romantic relationship with each other but for whatever reason (whether due to an existing relationship or due to a contractual limitation or being reluctant to cross messy friendship or work boundaries any further, or maybe they feel it’s one-sided behind the scenes) they don’t come across as currently in a relationship with their ship partner. I have to admit that I also don’t follow some of the couples as closely as others (like you mentioned it would be a full time job just to keep on top of all of their events and content) so it’s possible I’m being too harsh on some couples. I include FreenBecky in that one, as I don’t watch them as closely anymore post the infamous event (which affected the lens through which I saw them and other ships post that event), and up to then I don’t think I realised how far companies / individuals were willing to go to sell their ship, because they had seemed so genuine in their earlier years interactions and what they and others around them alluded to behind the scenes - sigh - I keep taking my anti-delulu pills but sometimes they wear off. I agree with your friend’s initial reaction as to why more of the couples don’t already admit they are together, if they are appearing that close with their skin-ship and words publicly anyway, but also understand in the entertainment industry they don’t want to be pigeon-holed into only being thought of as being one person’s partner (and that limiting their future potential acting / paid projects, even if that shouldn’t happen), whether they’ve been told not to do so or just received guidance that it would be against their best interests (whether rightly or wrongly). It feels like those who are closest to being likely to being real ‘slip-up’ a lot with saying things that go against them being just friends (beyond what could be expected of fan service) and so are usually fairly easy to guess as likely to be together in real life even if they don’t out-right say it, as a way of managing their need to be open with their significant other, in front of others, without explicitly saying they are this person’s romantic partner. I do feel you re their being a level of interest that’s kept engaged when it’s not confirmed and it’s still a will-they-won’t-they guessing game vs ‘oh’ they’re out now and in a relationship which ironically seems to negatively affect fans’ interest and excitement. There are quite a few who it feels to me act like they are de-facto couples (like FayMay, OrmFolk, AtomMer and GinJay) and ShellyPundao who’ve come out and said they are in a relationship, I’m putting in the same camp, and perhaps apart from GinJay who are still new, I would say struggle to get the same breakout interest as other couples that maybe have had more of a build up when they weren’t yet as obvious with each other (like LingOrm) and then have gradually increased how close they seem to be getting and that has kept fan interest high and growing (and they have done fantastically well, and well done to their success). Or if it has more to do with the company they are at and their respective budgets and how much / effectively they can promote their couple and find them new work and generate content that keeps them in fans’ eyelines, as well as how good at PR/self-promotion the individuals / couples are that is the driving factor of them growing bigger and more successful career-wise and financially from their job. I kind of feel like it’s probably more of the latter (i.e. promotion and budget as the limiting factor) butâ€ŠđŸ€·â€â™€ïž

This is SUCH a thoughtful take and honestly I agree with a lot of what you’re saying. And you already know me — I never say for sure who I think is actually together because at the end of the day we don’t really know. We’re all just reading vibes, patterns, and behavior. That said
 there are definitely some pairs that are just easier to speculate on because they go way beyond what feels like standard fan service. Like at a certain point you’re like
 okay y’all are doing a LOT here 👀 The industry side of it is also such a huge factor. Contracts, image, future roles, not wanting to be boxed in — all of that makes complete sense. Even if something is real, there are a million reasons why it wouldn’t be public. And honestly, sometimes the “will they / won’t they” keeps the hype alive more than confirmation ever could. Now the FreenBecky situation
 yeah. That one is complicated. I think for me, because I wasn’t around when everything went down and I already understood what fan service could look like, it didn’t hit me as hard as it did for a lot of people. It was still a shock when I found out, don’t get me wrong — but at the same time
 it kind of made sense to me based on what I had seen. They always felt genuine, like there was real care there, but to me it often came across like it leaned more from Becky’s side, while Freen — being older — sometimes gave more of that protective / older sibling energy. Now could that have shifted over time? Absolutely. Relationships and feelings aren’t static. But we’ll never fully know. And I honestly think you’re right — if that situation had never surfaced publicly, things might have played out very differently for them, both in how fans perceived them and maybe even in how things evolved between them. Also your point about “slip-ups” is so real. There are definitely some pairs where you’re like
 okay that felt a little too natural or a little too specific to just be scripted fan service. But again — even then — we’re still guessing. At the end of the day, I try to stay in that space of: enjoy the content, appreciate the chemistry, allow a little delulu (because it’s fun 😌) but also not fully attach to any one narrative as fact And yeah
 promotion, budget, company backing — that plays a MASSIVE role in who blows up and who doesn’t. Sometimes it’s not even about the couple itself, it’s about how well they’re being packaged and pushed. But yeah
 long story short: We’re all just here spiraling, connecting dots, and occasionally taking our anti-delulu pills when needed 😂
