A TON of you recommended My Marvellous Dream Is You, but I’ve actually already seen it! So I pulled together some of the other shows we could dive into:

this was a hard poll i struggled between petrichor and broken of love but also player is good and somewhere somehow is funny

“I Am Devil”, “Like A Palette” and “Player” the main couples have all split😩 and one half of the split “I Am Devil” couple was gonna be Neko’s partner before the insanity happened. “Petrichor” is so brilliant but a one time watch for me and my stomach. My head says “Somewhere, Somehow” but my heart says “Love Senior” because I think it’s underrated. Can’t lose with either one, in my opinion and you also can’t escape at least being a little emotionally destroyed.

I haven’t watched Player but I’ve watched all of the others. I personally think Somewhere Somehow, Broken of Love and Love Senior are the best of that group. I liked Like a Palette as well, but it is very light (so good to watch just not necessarily to react to as not necessarily the strongest). Love Senior’s a better mix of drama, and chemistry between the main actors, and feels like a fairly good story (from what I can remember). It’s set in University, when they first start and everything is new and exciting but also a bit scary and unknown. I am Devil I enjoyed reasonably well at the time but did feel low budget from my vague recollections (it felt closer to many of the low budget short story amateur GLs that were on YouTube at the time, that I enjoyed but were limited). Petrichor I enjoyed as an EngLot-er and because they tackled a different genre than the normal rom-drama trope but if I’m being brutally honest its police crime storylines were weak if I compare it to the crime dramas I’ve seen in the UK which are 10x higher quality. It does have some nice twists and does have a decently high budget and for a GL is / was groundbreaking for the story being the main impetus and not the romance between the main characters and I expect you would still enjoy it, even if you are not a fan of police procedurals. Broken of Love is a more balanced effort, good story, script, acting, etc. and I would give an 8/10, as it is not my favourite of all time but is still very well-done overall and if you want to see FayeAtom together is worth watching. Love Senior was one of the earlier GLs I watched so I still have fond memories for that reason (like GAP and all of the earlier raft of GLs). Somewhere Somehow I expect you will enjoy if you liked FayMay from My Marvellous Dream is You, it’s a high budget Romcom although it has a surprising amount of drama, and it covers three time periods; when they are in school, when they are at University and then when they are working adults, including filming in Thailand and Japan. It’s a good romcom, not as good as I would have liked, as I had really high expectations of it going into it, and having also watched Hometown Romance and Enemies with Benefits, I prefer HR and EWB but Somewhere Somehow is the closest GL we have to those two. It also has more episodes than both of them, and they are long episodes, as it’s an Idol Factory production so they were able to stretch out the storyline and have more character and storyline development. There are some very good and funny scenes as well, just not every scene translates (to my humour anyway). It also has a very good supporting cast.

I love Somewhere Somehow. Its so much fun and you will finally get a Chance to dive into FayMay. Absolutely great choice. They are way to underrated
