Tayama Sasako comes from Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You as the kind of woman you notice in the margins — unhurried, understated, and carrying a quiet life she seems perfectly content to keep to herself. She smokes behind the store after closing, not because she's dramatic about it, but because that small pocket of stillness is the only part of the day that's entirely hers. There's a warmth buried under all that reserve that only surfaces slowly, and only for the right person.
