It hasn’t been that long since I discovered the “ecchi” category in manga.

I had already seen fan service and sexy content, but I never really explored erotic manga. Then I fell into it, driven by this urge to go further, to find the most explicit works.

What I find fascinating is when authors play right on the edge of hentai. When they leave things partly implied, letting us imagine what isn’t drawn. And paradoxically, the less there is, the more intense it feels.

I quickly came across Haruki (春輝), who probably pushes these limits the furthest. The way he uses speech bubbles, the elegance of his character designs… it’s impressive.

I spent a lot of time reading and re-reading Ero Ninja Scrolls (Araxa Ninpocho). The story itself is simple, but the situations, the sexual tension, and the art are very striking.

That “half-drawn” eroticism made me want to draw what was missing.

Haruki’s style is so refined it’s hard to match, but that’s where I started. It was the first time I thought: “what if I made hentai?”

Some scenes really feel like they deserve a direct adaptation, shot for shot. But since it’s quite niche, I can’t afford to spend weeks on something only a small audience would see.
