hey everyone!!! hope your week is off to a good start. i’m personally still coming off the release of the Michael Jackson DDD — that video had been in the works since late last year, and it’s great to finally have it out in the world. even with all the difficult subject matter, i still really enjoyed making it and i hope you all enjoyed it.

anyway, a couple quick updates from me:

THANK YOU

first of all — thank you for being here!! the response to this Patreon starting up has blown away my expectations. i’m immensely grateful to all of you who have joined.

as this Patreon continues to develop, please feel free to provide any feedback you have or suggestions for what you’d want to see here. i want to make sure this is a valuable space to you.

UPCOMING VIDEOS

now that MJ is done, what’s next? the next video will be out this week — just a quick update so i can share some personal news that impacts the channel. (nothing bad or serious, in fact it’s quite exciting!)

after that is a pseudo-sequel to my CD listening experiment last year. back in january, i listened to only radio for the whole month. i’ve been sitting on notes and footage from that for a while now, and i finally wanna get it made.

i’m also doing an interview piece soon, sorta like the NPR Tiny Desk video i did late last year. this one will be focused on an advocacy group that provides live sound professionals with mental and physical health resources.

and lastly for now, the next DDD. i promise this one will not take as long as the MJ DDD lol — i’ve started proper pre-production on it yesterday, and i’m currently aiming for a release sometime in mid to late June. i chose that timing because it’s right around the time the band kicks off their first tour in over a decade wink wink nudge nudge :)

that’s it for now! i plan to make these updates at least on a weekly basis. thank you all again for being here. imma go listen to that new 2hollis album now. bye!

Thank you, The. Would be cool to see some reviews on here of new or old albums sorta like qrb but off the cuff and more focused on the little interesting things you like that couldn't make a full YouTube video. Hope that helpful in anyway, take care!

Loving these little updates here! Radio was the primary way I listened to music until 2015 so I'm interested to see how much it's changed. As for suggestions - I've always appreciated personal stories so maybe some interview series where you ask people what drew them to their favorite artist(s) might be cool! Also I'd personally pay for the Crazy Ex Girlfriend video you mentioned a while ago lol, I finally watched the series last year and it's incredible. I get how much of a time commitment it is though, so maybe you could get someone else to take notes alongside you according to your specifications? Though I understand that might not work with diff perspectives and all. Regardless, I'm so thrilled for you and excited to see where your hard work leads!

Thanks for this update! So so so excited for whatever’s coming. Love your work and stoked you started a Patreon! This might be way too niche, but with your knowledge, I’d love to hear you talk more about actual production details. Like, even something as “accessible” as the way mixing in popular music has evolved over the decades (the maximalism of the 2010’s vs the wayyy stripped down sound that’s been happening since Lorde and Billie started putting stuff out). I know you kinda touch on it in the decades videos, but I’d love to hear you pick a couple songs to juxtapose and get into the nitty gritty a little bit. Just an idea!

I'm so so so so so excited to see this Patreon take off. I'm curious: Do you plan to reupload original versions of previous videos that have been damaged by YouTube's copyright strikes? Your Arctic Monkeys DDD, for example, had an entire section about Brianstorm removed, thereby deleting context for the script about Favourite Worst Nightmare to come immediately after.

so glad to be part of The Movement (to patreon) would you be open to discord integration or some other community discussion forum?

I’m late with this but I’d love to know more about what music you’re listening to day-to-day, kinda like your old Quick Album Reviews series! I love your EOY lists and would love to get those great recs in months that aren’t December Also loved any bits you’ve talked about games you’ve been playing before also (if that’s something you’d like to talk about!)
