Hey hey hey! Remember a few days ago when I asked y'all for what you thought was the "worst song ever?" Good times. You did not disappoint, because some of these picks were astounding in how... memorable they were, let's put it like that.

I compiled a bunch of your suggestions to see if we can narrow down what makes a song the worst ever. If there are any other songs I'm missing, let me know. And thank you again to everyone who submitted picks!

Best Day of My Life is probably my least favorite stomp-clap song as well just because my school played it at every assembly for the next three-four years

I am just a victim of that overplay issue but also the specific song I think of (way out in the sun by Michael franti) is also horrible because it's so generic and childish and "how do you do fellow kids" elements (everything from emoji references to happy and you know it lyrics), plus I heard it so many times working at Publix I want to commit arson on it

just jumped out and screamed when my comment showed up

It was interesting to see the different types of reasons that people hate songs. I feel like working retail changes your relationship with music. My condolences to all the retail people.

I do agree on Fight Song. Although the worst songs for me are what I like to call the “Positivity without Empathy” songs. It’s the musical equivalent of “You’re so Pretty When you Smile more.” The type of song that pisses on your leg and tells you it’s raining. As a retired favorite of mine called it, “the chickenshit version of Cynicism.”

yippee i got in the video!! great video as always

Noooooooo not Reelin in the Years! My parents (mostly my dad tbh) raised me on Steely Dan so that song will always remind me of weekends at my dad's house in high school. Can't believe I didn't think of Fight Song! I actually enjoyed it as a teenager (I was very sheltered lmao) but these days, it's far too cheesy for me. And because cringe is dead, I'll be the first to admit I used to use the username happy_endings15 before I realized what it meant. 😬 In my defense, I only thought of it in the storytelling sense, being a writer and all. So there you go lmao. These were some really interesting suggestions! A few I'm not familiar with (left retail just before AJR blew up thank god), but that I definitely agree with. Then again, I find that my music taste is heavily influenced by what other people think, so maybe someone with stronger opinions will have a more interesting take. 😅

Word Crimes by Weird Al is the objectively correct version of Blurred Lines (and does help you realize the original song has decent production under all the misogyny)

No way!! dats me!!! Glad to hear Mic feels the same way about fight song it drives me up a wall and It gets stuck in my head at least a week :((

It's very hard for me to feel hate toward a song, mostly because if I don't like it, I can just listen to something else. Shadow World though gives this feeling of shock that it exists. Like I feel threatened by a piece of music that isn't even trying to be threatening. (also made it in a video yayyy!)

Given you five bucks just to say that I am genuinely confused in regards to Sweet Like Chocolate. I remember when this song came out, I liked it and I genuinely don't know what you're talking about in regards to the snare. That is a pretty normal snare in a 2step/UK Garage context. I can certainly tell you that it didn't stand out one single bit back then.

This was such a fun idea for a video and getting us Patrons involved! Thanks for that!

If you ever veer back into K-Pop territory, Sticker by NCT 127 would probably fit in the cringe or unlistenable category. The flute sample and the empty sounding track just cause a sense of disjointed-ness. I think it’s more interesting that the people that like this song typically say they had to listen to the song a few times to like it, which makes me wonder if it’s more that the fan likes the group to force themselves to like the song, or repeated listens made it less jarring.

If we're using obscure songs for the unpleasant, difficult-to-listen-to category, then allow me to throw in Enchanted by Active Presence. What a jittery, inharmonious, sonically strained piece of electronic music. I hate that artist's entire discography, in all honesty, because (and this is nothing against the real audience that he has, but) I am absolutely confused as to what could be appealing about the majority of it. Like his first album, Tropical Mess, I can at least comprehend the majority of its songs' tempos, but from the moment I listened to Fresh onwards, with no outside information, I was convinced that any fans of this sort of music enjoy complete piss-shoots, ironically or not. Give his albums a shot, if you dare; they're rarely longer than 20 minutes each, and maybe you'll find something I can't.

Jumping over now from Nebula because I didn't realize this poll was here and would have loved to added my two cents. First off, UGK's pr*gnant p*ssy (feels wrong to even say the name). These guys are genuinely well respected in the southern hip hop pantheon, so the fact they have something as absurdly offensive as that in their back catalogue is even more wild. Kind of a similar case to ATCQ with Georgie Porgie (another possible contender for the list). Morally reprehensible songs like that aren't that fun to discuss though, since everyone can agree at this point that those songs are awful. When I think my least favorite tracks, I go to What Does the Fox Say by Ylvis and Angel with a Shotgun by The Cab. The former was overplayed, really annoying with the animal noises the guy makes, and my boss used to play it at FYE constantly. In 2023. The latter just reminds me of a miserable period in my life whenever I hear it, though the singer's voice does grate on me quite a bit and I don't think I'd enjoy the song even removing the personal context.

Dead Tansen

Will not stand for this Steely Dan slander. Dander, if you will
