Sweet, my music taste for 2026 just dropped

GAGA!!! ♥️🖤🥀 As an aside, love your vids as always and always look forward to your DDD, Year end lists, and reviews. Love that you began to explore different forms of filmmaking this year. As a music and film scholar, I respect your content sm and is something I long to do one day with a blog or something. Youre a beacon of light in music criticism (even when you have a legitimate critique). See you in 2026!

YEEEEES this is what I’ve been waiting for!!!!!!

LETS FUCKING GO MY GOAT LIKES PPC. Please do a DDD just to tempt the algorithm over the goddamn name

MysteryMii

Wait, if you’re still disqualifying game soundtracks because the game itself is not on Switch/Switch 2, then how the hell did you play Hi-Fi Rush last year?

Noah

Okay. Mic. 1) This is bar none the best installment of this series that you've made to date. I just know you were sitting there grinning as you edited together some of those transitions my dude. Seriously, this is not just YOUR best editing work, but it should be the new benchmark for the video essay space, at least in when it comes to music. Props. 2) I think it's high time you made a video explaining your definition of "Banger, Bop and Jam!" Not that I'm necessarily confused, but I just think you could have a lot of fun explaining your "good song labeling" convention while also diving into other words people use a lot to describe good songs (eg. that song is such a *vibe*). Idk, maybe for a future Patreon poll video? Great video, amazing work, can't wait for the next one 🤩

Happy to see all the love for Ethel Cain. This list probably had the most of my own favorite records getting represented (Willoughby Tucker, Even In Arcadia, Revengeseekerz, and Never Enough just to name a few). Also I’ll forgive Disease being in here even though that came out last year just because I love that specific moment so much

Wednesday

I love that you also love the drop in Taxes. Man, that album RULES!! Au Pays du Cocaine is maybe one of my favorite all-time songs now. Can't wait to check out all the albums mentioned I haven't heard yet!! Thanks for making the playlist as always :)

max kozhevnikovy

this is the first year that i actually know quite a few albums off of this list which is very exciting, these types of videos genuinely make me go and listen to more music that i haven't heard before which i greatly appreciate in the age of dumbass algorithms i also i cheered and hollered when hades 2 was mentioned i've been WAITING for this one. TURN IT UP

Matt

Gnarly by Katseye was my #1 banger this year. #2 would be Blackpink's Jump. Ever Begin by YOOMEi was my #1 bop this year. #2 would be Drama Queen by LOVEONE. Gabriela by Katseye was my #1 jam this year. #2 would be What Am I by Kandis. OMG thoughts on Kirby Air Riders??? 👀

Intervención

As usual, most of these are complete unknowns to me X) Thanks for the playlist, I hope to add some of these songs/albums to my 2026 playlist!

Johanna

I've been longing for this video! For me one of the best pop albums this year was Jade's That's showbiz baby! It has so many bangers and I just love the direction of pop she is taking. My favorites are Angel of my dreams (ofc, it's chaotic pop perfection), Natural at disaster, Plastic box because of the Robyn vibes and Midnight cowboy. One of my best bops was Midnight Sun by Zara Larsson. You should listen, her vocals are crazy and it's just a good time. Will listen to the playlist and hopefully get some new favorites for 2026 :)
