Happy Sunday! Tonight is the big Grammys ceremony, and what better way to celebrate than with a video about a completely different event?

With the Super Bowl coming up next weekend, I wanted to cover the halftime show - something I've never actually done before in a full video! But this isn't just about any halftime show. It's about the weirdest, most sterile group to perform at the big game, their FOUR separate shows, and how they helped usher in modern halftime performers (like Usher)

As always, this is available now on here and on Nebula, and it'll be out on YT tomorrow. Enjoy!!

it would be great if you could offer the uncensored versions of applicable videos on patreon/nebula

glad you brought back the freak ass editing for this one

It's really funny how the super bowl halftime show functionally didn't even exist before 1993. And UWP is a big reason why lol

Good lord I remember them. That was brutal.

A couple of these clips are so amazing

I just joined the Patreon and the first video I see is a comprehensive look at Up With People's halftime shows. Best $5 I have ever spent.

I only learned about up with people as a kid because they parodied it on the simpsons - I'm a 2005 kid so it made absolutely no sense to me for a long time

I’m surprised you didn’t mention a big part as to why the halftime show is the way that it is now, and that was because during the halftime show at the 1992 Super Bowl, Fox (who was not an official NFL broadcaster at the time) counterprogramed with a live episode of In Living Color, and it was so successful that it caused the ratings on CBS (who was the broadcaster for the Super Bowl that year) to dip during the halftime show and not recover thereafter. The NFL booked MJ for the halftime show the following year to discourage other networks from counterprogramming the Super Bowl.
