Some early previews of chapter 8 page sketches! As I've mentioned before, ch. 8 takes place in October and starts a few days before Halloween. Each chapter so far is roughly a month apart, with chapter 1 starting in late March. (Ch. 2 is the exception - the boys see each other for the second time about a week after their arcade meeting, in early April.) If you've been paying attention, you can see the calendar on the wall in Alex's room every other chapter or so!At the beginning of the chapter, Alex teases Kaz for getting scared while he plays a horror game. Kaz asks his roommates to help him scare Alex for Halloween, and Rahul suggests taking him to an abandoned missile base outside of town.The missile bases they're talking about are the Nike missile bases, which were built across the US during the Cold War to counterattack if the USSR attacked. Most major metropolitan centers had at least one Nike missile base nearby. Today, all of them have been decommissioned and most of them used for other purposes, but there are a few abandoned ones that some people have explored.
