Anyone bouldering here? Sorry to drag your hobby! I think it's great, it's just a joke - some of my friends who are on dating apps reported their struggles with "climbing obsessed" people (apparently a lot of guys and lesbians are into it!). And some other friends are... well... obsessed with climbing. xD I only tried it out twice but being absolutely unatheletic I didn't keep up with it. But I absolutely see the appeal! Anyone of you using dating apps? How's it going? An absolute hellhole or did you find amazing people through it? :)

I don't date at all, but I have heard that lots of lesbians are into bouldering. :)

I definitely was the climbing/bouldering nerd. I love it and got all my friends into. Then life and injuries happened and it's hard to get back into, I miss my little cult lol. I wouldn't say it was our whole lives but having a group of people to meet up with every week trying to get better and encourage each other to do better without relaying on them is kind of a great social scene.

That's pretty sexistical and prejudiced huh? I don't do that and never have. My niece likes to climb; I definitely wouldn't have categorized or "branded" her as a teenager, especially since sexual orientation shouldn't matter (explicit when it comes to sports and hobbies). I used to paint, draw, and play tabletop role-playing story tellings/writings until arthritis got in the way. Now I grow plants, give them away, train my cats, and write novels as a hobby. If we're talking about being pigeonholed, everyone would probably picture a cute, straight, girly girl. I may be small and petite, but I'm neither straight nor cute in personality! I hate being seen as cute. And my gender is fluid. But if I was born later on, I bet I would be a proud trans.

speaking as a climber, we deserve to be dragged lol!!! thankfully I got married before I ever got into climbing, but I would definitely be one of those insufferable people on the dating apps otherwise 🤗

Hahaha so the constantly talking about it is true? I hope you can talk about it with your partner to your hearts desire!

From what I hear from my friends they have the same experience you had: having a goup of people making time in their busy schedules regularly and doing something for themselves but together is a great way to socialize! That sounds lovely. I'm sorry to hear you had to stop or are taking a break. I hope you can reunite with your cult. ❤️

Haha, seems like we have the same informants then! XD To Yve: I don't want to speak on Arakhors behalf but since we basically said the same thing (me in the post description) I wanted to say; I think there is a big difference between saying "ALL people of a certain group do xyz" and saying "I noticed some people in the community do xyz". I was jokingly referencing what my lesbian/queer friends were telling me, while I myself and dozens of other queer girlfriends don't climb at all. And yet there are multiple queer boulder/climbing groups in my city because queer culture also means people are creating safe spaces in public. I hope nobody sees a person they perceive as a woman who boulders and thinks "Yup, she must be a lesbian". I certainly don't. That being said I understand the struggle of being perceived as straight and am struggeling with that a lot as well. I feel you!
