Oi,

as there has been a bit of a surge of piracy recently I've decided to take some action against it.

I have opted for a tracking solution that might not stop the piracy itself but allows me to keep track of the people sharing the packs, as it's been getting a bit too much for my taste as of late. This will require you to join my discord server and for your patreon and discord accounts to be connected to grab the packs, as you may already know it from the packs MollyVX and ApolloRT made by some fellow developers.

I'm sorry for this minor inconvenience folks, but as these projects are now making up a relevant part of my monthly income I'll have to take measure to at least stall the pirates a bit (who also seem to be some real attention whores if I may say so, I gave one slightly heated announcement about them on my discord server and now they seem to believe they can somehow get reactions out of me when they gloat about pirating my products, almost sad if it wasn't such a nuisance).

Until such a solution is implemented there will be no new releases of KappaPT and NostalgiaVX on this page. Getting it to work may take a few weeks but I hope its usable before the end of the month, although I can give no guarantees on that. Development of those packs will obviously still continue behind the scenes regardless of that.

I hope you can understand this decision, as I need to protect my work if I want to be able to keep devoting as much time to it to create the fancy visuals you all like and love.

Thats pretty much all I had to say, and a big thanks to the people here who support me and appreciate my work (which are thankfully the overwhelming majority compared to the small but noisy group of pirates).

Being performance intensive != being poorly optimised, my packs do waaaay more stuff than your average shaderpack and for what they do they're pretty highly optimised, they're just not cut-back performance packs.

im on his side too ngl, i would like some optimization for this like reflections shadow mapping etc etc. cause im running the patreon version of nostalgia and im running it on 20 - 15 fps on a radeon rx 6500 xt. really annoying knowing how good the shader is and im paying a good load of money monthly for it.

The thing is that shrimples shaders have more realistic and nicer lighting but at a fraction of the computational cost of your shaders... On my rtx 4080 laptop with i13980hx i can run all free pt shaders with 120+ fps, while yours only give me 25-35 fps.

Ok but you have to keep in mind that shrimple lacks like 90% of the features of my packs, given that it has no advanced/complex skybox and atmospherics, no global illumination as well as various drawbacks or bugs due to the approach its lighting uses. Calling it more realistic is somewhat absurd (no offense), given that it seems to lack any kind of indirect lighting, which is arguably one of the most important and also difficult things for realistic lighting, especially indoors. Its also hardly even a comparision when one pack focuses on just a handful of things when I try to make my packs fully fleshed out in all aspects. Even something like PTGI is almost barebones in relation to the raw featureset of most of my packs. I'm honestly just a bit sick of the fact that people use what are either barebones performance packs or almost single-feature packs as a point of reference when my shaderpacks are almost the exact opposite of those, and PTGI or Shrimple for example are not even all that much faster when configured to somewhat comparable settings. Like those packs are good in their own regard, but they have very different goals from mine. If you want more performance with my packs, just change the settings or use the performance preset, because unlike others the default settings are not geared towards performance, but the sweet spot between great visuals and acceptable performance because that is the goal that I am going after. (also small addendum in case it isn't already obvious: especially my path traced packs are also not geared towards mid to low end GPUs like the aforementioned 6500XT, not even the free packs of mine like Kappa Shader perform all that well on those because its not the type of hardware i target there, there's plenty of packs for that already, same goes for a 4080 mobile, its hardly faster than a last gen midrange GPU such as a 6700XT).

Take all the time you need rre36 its really a big problem which should be solved in the best way possible. All these pirate kids don't understand the effort that goes into making it and building a community out of it they simply just don't f care.
