I always forget these wrestling watchalongs, so when the e-mail alert comes up it becomes a happy surprise. I'm pretty good with 80's-early 2000's history, through the 2010's though most of it hasn't been as memorable & most of it I've only seen once since it originally aired so it is nice to go back & revisit this time period. Since I don't remember much of this decade it's as about as close to watching it for the 1st time as I can get. Yes, this was not long before Guardians 1. This was May 4th 2014, Guardians came out August 1st 2014. I had read the big reason Batista came back for this run was he wanted the WWE to work with Marvel & cross promote the movie. I read they laughed at him & said not a chance, that movie will fail & we don't want to be associated with it. In the end all 3 Guardians movies were successful without the WWE, so in the end Batista had the last laugh. Batista is still due a Hall Of Fame induction. He was announced for the class 0f 2020, but because of covid lockdowns the ceremony was cancelled that year. In 2021 they inducted the classes of 2020 & 2021 in a pre-recorded empty arena event. Batista chose to pas because he didn't want to get inducted in front of an empty arena. Since then I've heard they've tried getting him in, but his acting career has picked up & he's had scheduling issues the last few years. I was never really a big Batista fan, he's nowhere near as bad as Goldberg, but he certainly isn't one of the greats to me. I've actually taken more of a liking to him as an actor outside of wrestling though.
