Retro Tom

Part of the problem with this movie was the budget. Despite being widely popular & successful, Paramount felt Star Trek IV was too expensive so the budget for 5 was less. Then days before they started shooting the budget got slashed again so much of Shatner planned, especially for the end, had to be scrapped & something had to be cobbled together on the cheap. I can't say what was originally planned was better then what we got, but the budget cuts did at least interfere with the plan. I'd put this as the lowest of the 5, but by no means is it a horrible movie. It just looks far worse then it is because the best of the movies are so high, that just ok, looks bad. As for Drew, I've had many knee surgeries & done stairs with cutches. They way I was trained to do it was move both crutches to one arm with the other arm on a rail (If there's no rails, crutches under both arms). Go one step at a time with your good leg first followed by the bad one (or just the crutches if you can't put weight on it). Going down the bad knee (or crutches) goes first. The nurses taught me to remember it by thinking "good goes to heaven while the bad goes to hell" which is actually kind of fitting given the subject of this movie. It might take a few times practicing at first but should be less strain. If your way is working for you feel free to continue it, I'm just trying to offer advice from my experience to minimize your strain & make things easier for you.
