How to win a free sketch and what to expect from Dragonstar (Patreon)
Content
Hello!
Dragonstar starts next Monday so I'd like to explain a little contest that will take place every time the main comic updates:
The Octopus Game!
It's very simple, it's basically Where's Waldo but with a little space Octopus hidden somewhere in the comic. The first person to either describe its location perfectly (Which panel, where) in a comment or just take a screenshot wins a free sketch!
(Sorry I couldn't make something fancier to advertise this., I've been short on time lately)
I've made it very easy to find the Octopus in the first update but I plan to make it more difficult as time goes on. Only Patreon supporters can participate, since the octopus is only visible at full quality.
(The comic goes live 01/07/2024 at 18:00 CEST)

I would also like to take a moment to talk about what you may expect from the main comic.
STORY WISE:
Since the main comic has an actual story, it will have a different vibe from the cartoons. The comic tells the story about how Kyle and Banana first met. This obviously means that during the first updates, you won't be seeing them together. The focus will be on Kyle and Pretzel (his little owl pet) And once they meet Banana, you will find that the comic and cartoons become a lot more similar. But I do ask for a bit of patience. Please enjoy the story and take the time to get to know these characters. I need people to WANT Kyle and Banana to find eachother. It has to be earned.
UPDATE SCHEDULE (Now)
I used to update my comics once a week when it was only one page at a time. But Dragonstar updates are a lot bigger, multiple pages at once. So I can't update as frequently, not while I still work an intensive, full time job and have a lot of other responsibilities.
For now, I will update the comic once a month. Preferably on the first of each month.
UPDATE SCHEDULE (In the future)
It's always been my dream to become a full time comic artist so I could update every week. Drawing comics is the only thing that makes me happy. But I don't think I need to explain to you why being a comic artist is a difficult carreer choice, I'm sure you're already aware. And I don't want to waste your time with me whining how hard it is.
Instead, I'd like to put up a goal for this Patreon so I can actually make this dream a reality. It's not an easy goal to reach because of the extremely exploitative income taxes in my country (+65%). But if my Patreon is able to hit around a thousand paid members, I could just barely scrape a minimum wage while still being able to afford healthcare and save for a pension. And that's honestly enough for me. I don't care about becoming rich. I just want to draw comics all day every day. (and get healthcare if I get sick) I have so many stories that I want to tell, stories beyond Dragonstar...
So this is my promise to you: If this Patreon hits 1000 paid members, I can increase updates to weekly or at least every other week. (And I'd be the happiest real comic artist in the world) ^^
Current member count: 51/1000 (Already a very, very good start!)
BONUS CONTENT
I hope to have time to do some cartoons again soon, so look forward to that!
After the first of July, people subscribed to the Skyvern Tier will also gradually get access to the concept art and sketches that I have so far.
(IMPORTANT!) TIER ACCESS
Currently people in the Mostly (h)Armless tier also have access to the Dragonstar comic and cartoons, this will change in September. So if you want to continue following the story, please switch to the OUZEL, SKYVERN or ELDER DRAGON tier by then! The Mostly (h)Armless comic will be moved to a seperate archive tier at a lower rate.
PRINTS
I'm still working on the Mostly (h)Armless print. I'm about halfway finished with it but opportunities to work on it have been few and far between. I hope to get it done in August. I also intend to print the first Volume of Dragonstar when it's completed.
Finally, I'd like to print more Dragonstar related arts, but I will reveal more about that when the stars align.
I think that is all for now. Thank you for the patience, the interest and the support! I'll see you next monday!
