But this really is all I can do for now. Hopefully one day support will increase to the point I can draw full time and release more often.

NOOOOOOO LITTLE GUY WATCH OUT I love the texture you use everywhere it's super neat! Almost feels like an impressionist painting :0 And your creature design is top notch! Big fan of that one rowlcoon(?) that is just straight up shaking it tiny fist xD

I'm not sure but I think the little octopus is made in the sauce in the plate in page 1, bottom right corner in the panel with the shining garbage dinner (the plate with the fork, a sparkle and a couple French fries on it)

The creatures are called Ouzels! I’m glad you like them. They are a combination of two of my favourite animals. The texture is probably just artefacts from Glaze, the AI protection. But I’m glad they elevate the visuals for you rather than diminish them.

This breaks my heart.. I can't stand seeing animals get abused and treated like pests 💔 Especially the less fortunate ones like Pretzel. Can't even get any respect from his fellow owlzels 😔 Fantastic chapter though! I really appreciate how the color pallet is dulled out a bit in this one. Really helps immerse you in how dreary Pretzel's life is right now. But more than anything else, I think my favorite choice was the use of visual contrast! It'd be one thing if Pretzel was just abused/neglected by animals & humans. But the way his eyes just.. LIGHT UP at the sight of *rotten food scraps* is a whole other level of sad. Poor boy is STARVING, and no one cares! 😭 Aside from that, the facial expressions are perfect, as usual. I was really hoping it was Kyle at the end (cause of the hair shape), but my heart sank when I saw the evil doll smile.. Childhood cruelty is always a disturbing thing to watch, haha!

Now that I've gathered my thoughts... I'm SO glad those tears in the teaser were good tears! I had a feeling that was a banana peel in his mouth. I'm loving the gradual worldbuilding, as we get to see pre-Banana Dragonstar and how things came to be. I'm already entranced by this world! I would still go through absolute hell for this precious critter though. I was so worried for him that I got a stomach cramp while reading! And I love that literal nod to Banana. She was there from the start! >:o I'm even gladder that we finally get to see more of Pretzel! At first, I really liked his design but knew nothing about him due to his very few appearances. Over the course of these few pages, this lil owl-weasel fella has really REALLY grown on me strong! And I can't emphasize this enough... The Ouzels' design is so.. Lovable. Squeezable. Unique. I'm not biased towards owls whatsoever, nuh uh. Even though he's missing an eye, you manage to give him so much personality and expressiveness! The way you laid things out here, both in terms of visuals and storytelling, just scratches an itch I didn't know I had. Your use of juxtaposition, motivated lighting, dynamic palettes, and framing never ceases to get me hyped. How the panels fade or click together is such a pleasure to scroll through. I'm a big enjoyer of the visual pacing! You've got a huge knack for silent storytelling. This is a great showcase. Once things start actually picking up, I know I'll lose my mind! With what we're watching Pretzel go through, you're doing a phenomenal job of making us WANT Kyle to find him. Seeing Pretzel at his lowest most desperate is heart-wrenching and makes me wanna weep, but it also makes me so excited to see him experience warmth and affection. Can't wait to see how this bond forms! I reckon the poor guy's got a well-earned prosperous life ahead of him with the boy. Hang in there lil mustache-man... This really wants me to go give my cats all the love & attention humanly possible. Brb.

Thank you so much! I was worried that people may not enjoy the chapter because it was both largely mute and didn’t involve the main characters at all. (The only chapter to do so) and this was something of a risk, although a necessary one. But I’m happy to hear that you think the first chapter was good. I put a lot of effort in making it visually engaging to make up for its dreariness. Thank you for your comment!

Thank YOU for the awesome comic! 💚 That extra effort you put into your visuals definitely hasn't gone unnoticed! And hey man, don't be afraid to bask in the more quiet/muted moments like this. After all, comics are a visual medium, and punctuated moments of silence can often be when they're at their best! Plus, I just love when animal characters get their own little slices of story like this. It's always a refreshing change of perspective, and getting to interact with a setting from unique angles like that can help it feel more fleshed out! Can't wait to see how this whole project evolves 😁

Thank you! Indeed, Pretzel picking a banana peel out of everything wasn’t coincidence. I’m happy that you like this character (I had a suspicion that you would, because owl ‘n all that) because he’s the most active character (after Kyle) in the first volume. So you’ll be seeing loads of him. I can’t wait to show more, I’ve started production on episode 1.2 & 1.3 today.

I love the worldbuilding going on. Every creature shown, so far, has not been “normal.” Even the birds have 6 legs, but it’s not brought into focus because they’re normal by this world’s standards. I love those little details. It makes me want to see what other creatures, that we’ve come to see and recognize as common-place, be different in this world compared to ours. Also, I’m very curious about how this modern-day-like civilization’s society works/functions with how all the animals are not “normal” earth animals.

Trust me, I know that feeling. You try showing someone a creature that you think is super cool and/or pretty and then kids like that come along and kill it for no reason.
