caleb

Twan

NO WAY

Mateus B.

YOOOO!! i definetly wasnt expecting this reaction but WE HEREE!

Max Power

Can't see this going well 😂

Lachy

yeah this was a suprise

Carter Hollenbaugh

ain’t even started and i know y’all gonna not fw it 😭

Arie

I thought this would take a while. Glad to watch reactions because Playboi isn’t my cup of tea, but I enjoy discovering him through others.

Brian Walters

Just here for the Kendrick features 🤣🤣🫡

Mateus B.

one thing worth noting is that CardoGotWings who produced some of the singles Carti dropped for this album rollout (EvilJordan and Hoodbyair) also produced euphoria for Kendrick, so them two collabing is not so random as it seems.

Dvisionn

Damn so no saint jhn reaction? That album got better with every listen.

dibby

Courage the cowardly dog 💀

Soul Pirate Ruichi

I'm so happppyyyy!! Didn't think ya'll would listen. Thank you so much!!!!

Donovan

We here appreciate y’all for the reaction!

Jonathan Riley

Back door is the sibling song to Luther Luther is on the momma side of the family Backdoor is on the daddy side of the family

Flako

wild album

Demeterius Benton

Yall should check out playboi's first album (it's self titled) he was straight up rapping there and wasn't on his rock stuff at that time. Literally a classic and semi-birthed the wave of artists like juice wrld which led him to change his style to the rock stuff

Tico505

Music truly is subjective

Alex

Ye production on BACKDOOR

Samuel

I'm glad you guys were able to find songs you liked on this project. The songs that you didn't like might hit harder in a different environment than the vibevilla studio. Honestly, some of them you just can't listen to while sitting down lol

Mount Halo

Rather lie + Fine shit are ai unfortunately. Mad weak.

Alan

No lie this shit is ass lmaoooo. I need JID to drop and cleanse my ears

Lizzie

my thing is that I know punk/metal has a lot of meaning to people and I don’t necessarily get it but I know it’s quality for the people that do get it. I feel the same way here. honestly I think Pop Out is super cool even though it’s not something I’m about to put on my repeat playlist. I think it’s cool af for what it is. not really nice sounding though. but I like the 3 kendrick songs so i’ll take it 🤷🏽‍♀️

Lizzie

I’m not a punk connoisseur so I’m not the best person to speak on it. but I really feel like it’s pure energy and emotion. honestly punk isn’t really for me either, but I respect it, so I have to do the same here. but the kendrick songs are 🔥 to me as well as 3-4 others

Soul Pirate Ruichi

I get why this album might be a hard listen for some...it’s definitely not an easy listen if you’re not used to this kind of sound. For me, I don’t normally go out of my way to listen to Playboi Carti. Back in 2017, when Magnolia and Wokeuplikethis dropped, his music felt a lot more palatable, and I heard it a lot in college. But outside of that, I never really kept up with his releases like that. The only reason I even gave I Am Music a listen was because I knew Kendrick Lamar was going to be on it. That made me curious enough to check out the full project, just to see what it was about. And even though I completely understand why people might not enjoy it, I actually ended up liking and adding 27 out of the 30 songs on my first listen. For me, the way I approached it was by letting go of any expectations of what music “should” sound like. I almost had to take myself out of a normal listening mindset and just experience it for what it is. I think the reason I could enjoy it is because I already listen to a wide range of genres, including alternative and heavy metal (and I mean deep, heavy metal). Because of that, I’m used to unconventional sounds, and I don’t mind chaotic, clashing sonics when they’re done in a way that works. Carti’s music is layered with so many different sounds that technically shouldn’t mix together, but somehow, they do. Instead of separating them in my head, I just take them in as they are, and it clicks for me. That’s why I ended up enjoying the album so much. But I completely get why it might be hard for others to wrap their heads around. It’s a lot to take in at first, and I think that’s why so many people have that “How do you even listen to this?” reaction. My brother doesn't "get" it either. Loved ya'll reaction as usual though. Funny asf.

Chris

No way fr? Is it proven?

Arie

I enjoyed every feature more than him. There’s only 3 songs I’d put in my rotation: Rather Lie, Toxic, & Backdoor.

TheDonMoose

Off the jump; Prince hit it on the head. “Watch the party die” and the whole “higher moral ground” approach that Kendrick has been taking is all a scam. The further we get from the beef the more that it’s apparent that his issue with Drake is solely jealousy. Bro spent the last month collecting accolades at one of the biggest parties (Grammys) to dancing on the stage of the biggest party (Super Bowl) where it’s financed and controlled by some of the worst human beings on earth. He didn’t watch the party die, he just became the man of all the parties lol

Mumia Bagley

Bro stop it yall are lying to yourselves!! Bruh are we listening to that same shit man? Come on yall is not being fr?🤣🤣🤣🤣 bruh ok let me say this as a rap album / hip hop album this is bar far some of the most trash shit ever made now if yall fans look at it another than rap than yall got it but bruh we can’t let them label stuff like this as hip hop or even rap !! This is disrespectful to the game lol

TheDonMoose

Kurrco and a few pages confirmed this. A post on his subreddit compared the Timeless vocals (also AI) and saw the same patterns in the vocals of those two tracks. Ye worked with Carti on the album and he’s fully embraced AI. The only counter argument is that Carti (thru Ak) said that there’s no AI on there. However, the signs all point to AI.

Kayen

There was mention of BACKD00R transitioning into Luther. I think a better a transition would actually be BACKD00R into The Hillbillies, specifically the part where Kendrick is rapping inside Dodger stadium. Those sound like the exact same drum pattern hits when he's on the pitcher's mound. Great reaction, about what I expected from y'all lol

Pinhead Larry

lmao it's been a year let it go bro you can listen to both

TheDonMoose

I listen to both… I’m pointing out an observation related to something that was said in the video

TheDonMoose

I’m glad y’all reviewed it so I don’t give this trash a single stream lol. Y’all didn’t even skip enough. Shit is noisy. It sounds like music made for Gen Z that have their attention spans fried. Nothing sounds focused. The use of AI twice was disheartening. Imma need a Future-only version of Trim though. That shit sounds like 2016 Future.

Cyng

I can’t understand it either lmao still here to support tho 🔥

eligitgit

You don’t understand it yet it’s coo

Solitaryfunk

Kendrick ad libs: “it’s doing something…” Weeknd using Drakes flow: “yo please be patient with me” Funny to watch tip toeing past the mob

Leon K

Kendrick has been telling people he’s a hypocrite, he’s not your saviour, why are people surprised?

Soul Pirate Ruichi

@Mumia Yeah I get not wanting to call it rap. 🤣 Idk what to call it but I enjoyed it. It needs its own category.

Danielle karassik

I was waiting for you guys because I was for sure not going to hear the whole thing I just skipped to Kendrick parts But I am happy you guys did this review that can feel the whole thing. For sure not for me but I do get it now

Suleman Popal

Trash ass album. Thanks for reacting tho

AJ

There's room in hip hop for all kinds of sounds if you ask me

Squish Wright

Dropped a gayboi carti reaction and not stillmatic, I see now😔

E

I really feel like this is not music that you listen to sober. That’s the big thing that you’re missing. (just a guess.)

Greenmc2000

Wait did they skip Overly?

AJ

Yess

H.

That wasn't Carti on 'Rather Lie' apparently, someone else used AI to sound like him, the same guy that did 'Timeless' 😂

Sam G

The Weeknd reclaimed his flow back from Drake that stole it from him. I think he did this on purpose. All 3 Kendrick features are fire! Thanks guys 🔥🔥

Naveen

Imo the album is trash. Only liked rather lie and I didn’t like the Kendrick features but that’s just me. Appreciate you guys posting the album reaction

Earnest Williams II

No one owns a flow rappers and singers use each other’s flows all the time.

Josh

Horrible album dog.

Justin

lmao thats some shit nav wld never do

Monte

Can’t front this album does hit a lot harder when you’re high or drunk 😭😂

Fumeh

I think it's a generational album. Album of the decade.

Richard Osei

Had 2 songs I like fine shit and rather lie, as for the reason people enjoy him…. Drugs and moshpirs

Henry

Perfect example of Kendrick meat riders that are chronically online to hate Drake more than they love kdot

Henry

I got like 20/30 u gotta re listen a few times and when u faded or drunk it makes the music like a certain ominous vibe that gets addicting and the production is some of the best I’ve ever heard like Olympian is so fire when ur faded

Pablo Esquvar

They are getting lazy by using A.I. to make the songs. For example, We Need Da Vibes, Thug does not sound like Thug, Carti either nor Ty Dolla and these engineers are trying to mix it well enough to hide the a.i. voice distortion but that’s what they get paid by these artists and labels. WLR is far better than this.

Justin Clayton

Listening to ya’ll struggling to figure this stuff out makes me feel 100% better. I thought I was just old Or maybe we’re all old, who knows.

Justin Clayton

I think I need a fan to explain to me what a trash version of this sounds like in comparison so I can understand the elements that make it “good” in their eyes.

Ezduzit

Bruh u killed me @ 21:10 I can’t unhear it now lmao 🤣

Vzpucha

Love this album so much. I like Carti since 2017 and loved Whole Lotta Red right off the bat so this album was an easy listen for me. Cartis music is not something you have to really listen listen like trying to capture lyrics and be focused on it. Just enjoy the beats, the flow, put it in the car or at the gym and it's great. Every Carti album has a different vibe and the I AM MUSIC started with Instagram/Youtube songs he posted throughout 2023-2024. If you want to get into it just search for these songs : Different Day - 2024 - BACKD00RS ft. Travis - KETAMINE - H00DBYAIR - PLAY THIS

Jay Robbins

I think as new listeners of carti i believe the best starting point to be Die Lit it’s more accessible and imo one of the best trap albums oat! So i hope yall check that hoe out

Ezduzit

1:22:30 same bruh I think I’m not young enough anymore to get into it like that, I mess with the beats but that’s about it

enzo

I'm dying at that background sounds around 42:56 LOL

Nez

I’ve listened to the first 14 songs like 3 times cuz I can’t get myself to finish it and I was honestly thinking it was decent as a non-fan like more listenable than expected, this reaction showed me how wrong I was lmao

comboguard

can u say more about what u were referring to at 2:52 with the meaning of the phrase “i am” in esotericism?

Pure Sound

CRANK isn't even mad different why didn't ya'll like it???

Elias (E-lie-us)

Yall had me crying all reaction 😭 i never thought yall react to Carti cuz i knew this wasn’t for yall💀 more carti fs lmaoo

every1luv J

LMAO as someone who’s been sober there whole life but is a carti fan this album is 30/30 you just have too like emerge your self in the vibe carti wants you to feel, and I think me seeing him live made me a bigger fan and I can put my self into that vibe, just like your Chanel when u listen to Carti you just gotta vibe listen to his voice as part of the beat

every1luv J

Skipping like weezy is CRAZY as someone from Atlanta understandable tho it’s meant for people from the A especially the last 2/3

Hershey Choco

Okay so first off I wanna say I never was one to pay for subscriptions or stuff like Patreon but yall were the first channel that made me pay for it cause I wanted yalls thoughts and opinions on certain songs cause yall catch more bars/ideas than other creators. That being said I really want yall to react to Kanye's new album "Bully" I know he's been tweaking out recently but I usually tend to seperate the art from the artist. And even if yall dont want to do the whole album I would really love if yall reacted to Beauty and the Beast from it to see your opinions on it. Love Yall, Hope Yall Keep Going Up!

The Goat

BOTTOM LINE TONIGHTTT

bL

what happened to overly

Fabian Cesena

There’s legitimately like 10 to 14 songs that can be instantly removed for me.

Taylor

I’ve been saying for YEARS I’ll never understand the appeal behind him. Timeless, popular and new choppa are good examples of him actually trying to be decent. Other than that he’s an almost 30 year old man that pretends to be a mysterious vampire and makes ridiculous noises over overproduced beats

Taylor

He’s the epitome of mumble rap. I hate that phrase coz I mostly listen to people that would be referred to as mumble rappers by old heads (Travis Scott, future, lil baby etc), but that’s the best way to describe him
