Malcolm Hughes

Definitely understand where you're coming from on WHATUWANNASAY?!. Sounds like Kenny Mason ft. Kenny Mason lol

Mansamuse

This is a dope body of work really appreciate Kenny’s consistency. You have to check out that Isaiah Rashad it’s been awful personal AOTY so far

jermaine jackson

Im a fan of rock music and rock infused with rap so the rock songs I enjoyed as much as the rap songs. Kenny is one of the few artists who is actually putting real effort into the rocks songs and not half assing it just to say he did something different.

Xavier Simpson

That boy Kenny always nice, appreciate the reaction.

Jonathan Riley

To answer your question, I think it truly comes down to what you want frfr. To have such a WIDE range as an artist only broadens the net for new fans which, in Kenny’s case, will help him blow up. As far as the genres he picks, ultimately it’s a preference. If it don’t resonate then that’s okay. The fact you haven’t said “the sound is BAD” lets you know that someone will like the sound and gravitate. He’s very courageous in his sound design/selection which makes the music better cause he takes those risks As a fan, knowing black folks really created rock it feels… familiar even though I’m not a huge rock fan. So when I hear how it blends, I really like it or at a minimum I like how Kenny did it

Small line on door swangin: I carry *Malice* while I ride around with “Clipse”/Clips

I think Kenny needs to refine his style. Its cool to be have be versatile but you can easily miss if someone has something specific they like from you. Angelic Hoodrat did the versatility flawlessly to me.

Moe Bahhur

Yeah I understand your question about his versatility getting in his way of getting bigger, it’s very valid. But if you listen to his music and the topic of a lot of this album I think that’s what he is addressing staying true to his artistry the music and sounds he likes wether it gets him love or hate. I personally love his versatility his fusion of rock is why I always come back to him. He can rap with the best and his sound is different than anyone else. But ultimately you gotta like that sound I grew up with that type of music as much as I did rap so it’s perfect blend for me. Also why I love Flatbush Zombies but he is even way more heavy with the rock alt sounds, and a lot of the times those are my favorite tracks.

AP

great reaction! Personally i loved the whole album. I think that Kenny versatility is what makes him the artist that he is, he’s basically speaking to that in the 7-11 song and the fact he can make any music he wants rather than try and get clicks. I think the only reason he isn’t at the top of the game is because he wants to come up organically and not chase some feature that doesn’t fit because they are big name and unfortunately not enough people have heard of him or gotten in his discography, cause it doesn’t really make sense to me how he’s not massive, hopefully he is soon. i think that his rap skill help his rock and other genres he dips into sound better and vice versa. Not everyone will like every song but Kenny definitely goes crazy lyrically every song!! I know you didn’t like come true but he was speaking on that one and kenny was on the guitar for that one, he love his smashing pumpkins and lincoln park music lol.

Greenmc2000

Should do Tigray Funk by Sideshow. AOTY no doubt, such diverse beats and super versatile. Pitchfork gave it best new music for a reason with over an 8

Y'ALL NEED TO CHECK THE NEW 6LACK ALBUM

Kagiso M. Keetse

Wish Prince was there for that reaction too on that track “TEST ME” bruh 😭😭 JID is absolutely insane.

Josh Kordovi

Crazy how black folk created rock and roll and it only became popular because whites like elvis pushed it to the white audience. Its the struggle music like rap that really resonates with the black community which I love to see.

Ryanmas

If you have time you should check the pup pack EPs that Kenny dropped. They’re all really good! However the feeling 7eleven gave me was so motivational on just being yourself and having that be enough for what you need to feel fulfilled! And I feel like really ties the album together. To answer your question about him being held back by the sounds. I think the whole point of this album is to make sure that that doesn’t matter to him and to me that makes it great. Great reaction as always! I notice you do most of the Kenny mason reactions by yourself. lol just be working out that way I guess.

Silly_Billy

“If I can get those people outside my core, then I can open the door” - Cole

Teddy Hart

Did yall review the previous album "9"?

Joshua Nguyen

Prince gonna fw maid of honour fs. hope you catch the vibe darae

Lamontre

Vince Staples white flag single for his crybaby album jun5. and isaiah and 6lack albums are both great.

Jan Majnik

To reply to your question, I love the versatility since I enjoy other music also like metalcore, hardcore, punk, rock, electronic etc. So for instance I love the Be what I want song and I love albums where Kenny experiments with sound and production and pushes the envelope on what kind of sound you can fit with some rapping or hip hop. Just like how JID can experiment with all kinds of flows, I see kenny as an experimenter of sound. They are the perfect duo actually. I lost my mind when I heard both on the song Grip for the first time. U guys put me on kenny as well so thanks for that,

solaa

I think this all connects and blends pretty well man it’s just stuff you’re not accustomed to
